  1. Michael Moore needs to pay Fred Phelps another visit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhekTRrvGrI A lot of people in the Phelps family happen to be lawyers. I believe that Fred Phelps himself was a lawyer himself until he was disbarred over trying to slander someone (if I recall correctly). It would be funnier just to wound them to the point where they would need blood transfusions. You would just have to pay off the blood bank to "accidentally" give them AIDS-infested blood afterward.
  2. I don't know what caused that Draco to apparently fire out of battery, but being an AK variant, Draco pistols are extremely reliable. I have not had a single issue with mine and it is pretty accurate for having such a short barrel.
  3. I have not done any work on it yet, but here is my Saiga 5.45:

This is my first Saiga rifle (5.45). The factory trigger is not very good (my AK's and M1A have made me so used to triggers that don't take a lot of pull to break).

  6. I finally got around to testing my new toys today. The Gen 4 G19 works flawlessly, the Draco is loud and has decent accuracy, and the Saiga 5.45 works well in spite of the crappy factory trigger.

  7. I have heard that some place has actually manufactured clones of Lee Enfield rifles. Needless to say, one can obtain a surplus Lee Enfield for less than one of the new clones. I will bet it costs hundreds to make those Mosin-Nagant clones while a lot of the military surplus ones sell for around US $100-$150.
  8. I finally picked up my new Draco today. Here it is with its other Romanian family member, the SAR-1 (yes, I changed the furniture on that SAR-1 some time ago): I know, it is not the best picture (I quickly snapped one for now, as the camera's battery was pretty low at the time I took the photograph). I have seen and heard of Draco pistols with other names. For example, while I was waiting during that period when they call the FBI after I filled out the paperwork, I looked around the shop, and I saw two more Draco pistols on the wall. However, both of them were designated as "Dr

  10. I know..they have really gone up in price. Hell, I could have sworn that they sold for, at most, not much more than a PSL around early to mid 2008 (I think they went for $1500 or so back then). And in hindsight, I should have picked one up back then. I feel you on that one. Gonna have to bite the bullet and pay the premium price for it though, because I really do want one At that price, it would probably be a better deal to simply get a Chinese SVD (I think they are called the NDM 86). These have the military features that the Tigers don't. I think they sell for around the
  11. I am getting a Saiga 5.45, given that surplus 7N6 ammunition is most likely the cheapest centerfire round one can find. Sure, it is corrosive, but as long as you properly clean the gun after shooting, it, you shouldn't have any problems.
  12. Shit like this is the reason why I will never buy a new car again - in the end, someone will end up ruining it for you. I bought a brand new 2008 Toyota Corolla back in October of 2007, and although it did not get messed up as quickly as your Scion did, it has been rear ended (fortunately, it just had some bumper damage, as I was hit at 5 MPH at most by some 19 year old girl that was too busy messing around with the radio to see me stopped at a red light), it got a couple of stone chips in the right fender (I do a lot of highway driving), someone did a hit and run (they rear ended it while it

  14. My CCW permit has finally arrived. The cretins running the Brady Campaign to Enable Violent Crime must be pissing themselves in rage right now. :)

  15. I don't really know a whole lot about what various companies offer regarding 1911 models, but I believe that Springfield Armory offers a model that is closer to earlier variants (no beaver tail, spur hammer, low-profile sights, etc.). I believe that this is their G.I. 45 model. Although it is not some anniversary model. I have been looking at some 1911's, but I will probably go for something that isn't like the earlier 1911 models. I am thinking of perhaps a Mil-Spec M1911A1 or a Loaded model from Springfield Armory. I just want something I can shoot well with; I don't want an annivers
  16. I have not had any issues of any Wolf polymer coated ammo rusting. I usually don't field strip my standard Springfield M1A to clean the internal parts (the manual says you should not take them apart too often), and the Wolf black box, polymer coated.308 I fed through it never caused any kind of corrosion. I did end up switching to German surplus 7.62X51mm ammo, though, given that Wolf wasn't any cheaper than this stuff when I purchased 1000 rounds of it. I think you can find it at ammoman and AIM Surplus. I have not had any issues with this 1990's surplus German ammunition. If my M1A can
  17. You are right. We should to expect some delays with IZHMASH products availability. Perhaps, it will be labelled as "Baikal". As for Vepr, I have good news. JSC Molot will not be bankroupted. It rises up from knees. The web site works again. Phone calls are answered. Last week they confirmed my order of "Vepr-12 Molot". http://www.molot.biz...-e/molot205.php I don't know what will happen, but it looks good. Moreover, Vepr's quality is much better than Saiga's. Those Vepr guns are simply astounding! It would be nice to see more of those show up here in the USA (
  18. I have sniffed around a bit, and since the Draco will have to suffice as a pistol until I get BATFE stuff sorted out, I did end up getting one of those VM-1 sling attachments from Parallax Tactical. Sure, it is a bit pricey for a piece of metal, but since I don't know what I am doing, that will be better than trying to mess around with the trunnion on my own. I also took their advice and got their Condoor Outdoor Cobra one point sling as well. I don't think that VM-1 attachment would interfere with any kind of underfolding stock, but if it did somehow, I could easily remove it. I will have
  19. That has been changed you will need 922R parts no big deal in that anyhow. Also draco's have a under folder rear trunnion already but the receiver is just not cut for it Edit to add: looks like the post above mine already has the info I posted LOL As you can obviously tell, I have never made a serious study of all AK parts (I have not thought of it too much, as I completely lack the skills, tools, and workspace to build them from parts kits), but I am assuming this is what is meant by the flat back of the Draco (just as the underfolding AK's have that flat back). Intere
  20. I see. That is what they are called. That "Summer Comfort" must be a name brand of some sort. I could probably try to see what they have around there sometime. I will have to sniff that out. Hopefully mine does not prove to be problematic. Yes, we have had quite a bit of snow, unfortunately. I like driving my Toyota Corolla until this stuff starts happening, and then I start kicking myself for moving away from 4X4 vehicles. I guess there is a definite trade-off when it comes to getting (based on how I drive) an average of 33 to 34 MPG. I am assuming
  21. You should contact Greg at CSS. http://store.carolin...ARMS/Categories According to his website, he has some IZ240's in stock. Now that I think of it, I just remember that the guy at the shop quoted me at given price (around $380) and he said I could not be charged more than if one did show up. Well, I don't know how true their words would hold, but even in the best case scenario, I am still probably looking at a delay that could take months, so I should probably just try to get one transferred via FFL. I have never actually done an FFL transfer of any sort, so how would that work?
  22. I am waiting on a Gen 4 G19, a Draco, a couple of Saigas, I will scope my M1A, and I will build an AR-15. It looks like I have some fun projects ahead. :)

  23. Wolf is non-corrosive for the most part, although check this interesting thread: http://7.62x54r.net/...topic=7987.msg0 That is interesting, but so far, I have not had any corrosion issues with Wolf, and I have been using it for years in my AK, SKS's, G17, and a bit in my M1A and Mosin-Nagants. Hopefully it will stay that way. I think the important thing is to at the very least, clean the bore after shooting a gun. This will at least reduce the chances of any kind of corrosion from happening.
  24. I managed to find a Draco, but I am not sure if it has any kind of such trunnion. Even if it doesn't, I can still probably have a gunsmith figure something out. An underfolder is probably not the most stable platform, but it is something different I have never tried (my SAR-1 has a standard fixed AKM butt-stock). I did notice the muzzle nut and that weld on the Draco I found today. That is good to know, as I have been a bit weary of trying to thread it myself (this is probably largely unwarranted paranoia on my behalf; I have not done much work on anything before with tools so I
  25. I should be getting a Gen 4 GLOCK 19 pretty soon (I put it on layaway and I will get it when my CCW permit shows up, which should be in the near future, given that they have 30 days to issue a permit or deny someone in the state of Minnesota, and it has been a bit over three weeks since I applied), and I am not sure which holster I should go with when it comes to getting this gun. I will probably get one of those more expensive belts for concealed carry so the holster won't shift around (I have seen some Galco ones that sell for around $60.00 at a shop/range). I have been sniffing around a b
