  1. Honestly the only mean thing the officer did was putting the tube back in his pocket instead of giving it to the guy.
  2. We are working on the magazines issue... But I totally agree on the rest. So often I get calls from people wanting an opinion on AKs in .308 or .30-06 and they really want to be told they are super accurate.. Simply put the rifles have limitations. The AK is a decent enough rifle but changing the chambering does not make it more accurate.. Saigas and Veprs produce about 2-4 inch groupings at 100 yards, a few may do better but normally it is 2-4 inch groupings at 100 yards..
  3. So several reports have a civilian intervening.. Even CNN had it. http://www.cnn.com/2017/11/05/us/texas-church-shooting-resident-action/index.html
  4. The accusations of "fake news" made a lot of people stop for a moment and ask themselves if the story felt slanted... Much like the story of the" emperor's new clothes", suddenly millions of people stopped believing for just a moment and they no longer imagined the fine flowing royal garments of the news organizations. And they saw reality of a fat, bloated, diseased creature dancing naked in the street... It only takes a moment of doubt for a fraud to be exposed.
  5. That JTS-12 also sold in a more AK version as the EM12B is actually pretty decent.. It is not nearly as crappy as the Fury. Only downside is that most saiga stick magazines fit really sloppy. The KS-12 has been getting good reviews.
  6. To me it is relevant that no one heard almost 200 rounds being fired in the building while he shot at the guard.. Which shows that the sound being heard outside is actually the sonic boom and impacts from the rounds and is not the muzzle noise.. The gun was fired a distance back in the building and basically turned the room into a giant muffler. Which shows that Silencers are not really a threat..
  7. I have not been left with much hope for rationality with cottle. Even when faced with clear irrefutable evidence of prior art he acts as if he was the only person to ever invent anything ever. His statement was if someone else had invented it they would have marketed them.. Failing to understand that others could see this eventuality coming almost a decade out. Most likely ATF will just do a reclassification on them and that will be the end of it.
  8. The Antis are NOT in the business of trading.. They offer total confiscation and then offer to meet in the middle of only taking half the stuff now and the other half later.. Then say how they agreed to a compromise and how the other side is unreasonable. The best bet is to amend their bills to be totally toxic to their side.. Add border walls and obamacare repeals.
  9. Yeah in the case of the USAS-12 the DD registry is not closed to additions. So there are issues. IF... IF, an amnesty is announced it would likely be for all machine guns.. SO that could be interesting.
  10. As in you must stamp it, but the stamp is free? Nope, no stamp.. Turn them in postage paid, possession after a date is illegal. Maybe they will allow registration which would be awesome as it would be the single largest addition to the NFA in ever... But I doubt it would happen. As for congress it is more likely that the bill will snowball to include the Mexican border wall, an obamacare repeal and a ban on magazines over one round, which will result in it failing to pick up enough votes to get through either side.
  11. Yeah they basically act like a patent troll and shut down items that are not covered by their patents.. They are based in TX and it is basically impossible to win against someone based in TX. I do often question how slidefire managed to stay out of trouble with ATF since my contact suggested any wide spread sales would result in a reclassification.. I don't know how grandfathering would work.. Most likely it would be like the Akins device.
  12. WTF guys?! I clicked on that video link and got a flashing red screen, virus alerts out the wazoo, bait-n-switch links trying to get me to do something and I had to use Task Manager to End Task on Firefox!! Link is a standard short youtube link as far as I see.. Could be you have a bug in your flash player or similar.
  13. While I am not big on bumpfire stocks being banned.. I don't mind the idea of Cottle having his ass thrown under the bus.. He was a fool to sell them. Threatening a lawsuit against someone for stealing your "patented invention" two and a half years before you claimed to invent it is just dumb. Cottle is not much of an inventor, he has only slightly improved on his device in the last seven years.. When we stopped work on bumpfire items over a year and a half before he 'invented' his stock, we had eight separate devices including models for pistols, rate reducers, burst generators (three to
  14. Technically ATF can easily ban them two different ways. If any long term reputable members want the details send me a PM.. I don't believe in giving the ATF help but I'm reasonably sure they will figure it out on their own.
  15. I think I have his email address, so he was online.. He ordered some floor plates back in December.. Kinda creepy having an order from such a lunatic.
  16. Oh I see it now.. Yep that is a problem. Looks like the part was set in the process machine incorrectly which cause the pocket to be formed incorrectly.. It did not wear out, the part was made wrong.
  17. I think you may have the bolt incorrectly assembled.
  18. Well almost time to tie myself to a palm tree for Irma..

      Roger that.

Figures the year after I move down here that this would happen.

Oh well. His will be done.

Was really concerned about a cat 4 storm ripping through FL. Cat 2 is no prize, but thank God it's not worse.

In my area it was not all that bad. Mostly fallen trees and the resulting power outages. Spent three days running a chainsaw opening roads and driveways for a few older folks we know.. Cleaned a few yards for people that can't do it and don't have family in the area.

There has been talk in my area of sending a couple hundred people from our area to Ft myers to stabilize houses... If they ask I'll go, but so far no one has asked.

  19. So.. Have any thoughts on a per unit licensing fee since you're not going to be making them? If they work by your statement and you likely have the 3D drawings which could be reversed out.. Naturally the market is rather slack and the investment cost is likely too high for injection molds, hand transfer steel stamping does not have the profit margins of plastic but the tooling is fairly reasonable to do in house.. Contact me if you want to talk numbers.
  20. I have sunk a good many lacquered or vinyl clad sinkers over the years.. And while the old ways are good to remember, it is hard to beat the holding power of modern ring shanks from a nail gun. One thing that has changed is the number of fasteners required in a home has gone up significantly.. One we did not that long ago had something like 250 lbs of metal clips and straps that had to be nailed in.. Sure you can slug all those nails in with a hammer, but I'd rather just use the palm nailer or a positive placement nail gun and be done with the job.. Having your shoulder joint lock up from rep
  21. They could be receiving the gun as a barreled action... That would be playing with the meaning of "made in USA".. But hardly the first time that had happened.
  22. Best method for sorting I came up with was to dust the shot with a little graphite and then I had about five stainless steel 4-5 quart bowls that I drilled four of with different sized drills using a shot size guide to get roughly in the ballpark of drill size. So you start with a stack of bowls and dump about a cup of shot in, then pick the top bowl up and start spinning and shaking it over the next size down bowl, you repeat until you get to the bottom bowl which has no holes in it. Normally I would remelt the top bowl and bottom bowl. The top had pretty large holes, basically anything s
  23. Try this, with the magazine in the gun and the gun field stripped. Push the shell down with your finger as close to the rim as possible and applying a slight rearward force, you want to push it until it is below the bottom tip of the last round bolt hold lever.. Now let it rise slowly and see if it snags the last round bolt hold. You need to check a couple types of shells and at full and nearly empty capacity. Once you have an idea of if it is catching at how much, a couple light taps to the tip of the lrbho lever will often correct it.. Be aware that there are NO replacement levers so
  24. The remodel looks like one I did with my father.. I think it was $96 k and was a little larger. But Alaska has a higher cost so $150k seems possble.. $200k+ seems very high but again Alaska is a different area.
  25. I actually just melted down the last can of shot that I made years ago. I found that it being slightly off round made it meter very poorly in my reloading press which resulted in the shells crimping poorly and slowly opening.. Also had trouble with the shot clumping, so you would get voids in the pattern and spots that behaved like slugs. The way mine worked was it has a stainless Ice scoop that was partly flattened and had four drippers real close together. It was made to go under my lee bottom drip pot, and I'd use a gas pedestal fryer with a 50 lb pot with refill the lee pot with melted
