  1. Most likely this. The saiga-433 is not exactly a Vepr-12. Odds are backs of the rims are catching the tip of the LRBHO lever, it probably needs to be tweaked toward the ejector block just a little bit. The other option is the lever is rubbing on the inside back of the magazine.
  2. I'm not really here anymore.. You'll notice that I am a "member" now, the activity here has slowed down so much that the cost did not make sense... I'm over on AK files and am active in the SAS-12 thread over there. I'm not sure what we are going to do regarding the SAS-12, but we are currently shooting one to see if they hold up long enough to be worth our time.. I'm trying to get 1000 rounds through one in short order and see if it is showing any signs of failure.. I'd be closer to that goal if the magazines would hold any of my roll crimped shells, I have a few thousand rounds of 00 buc
  3. Im on vacation actually. Voice mail forwarding was not working yesterday. The updated follower has an extra spring guide in the follower. It would have two spot welds in the center of the top side visable when assembled.
  4. Does your mag hold 9? There was an updated follower back a year ago or so.
  5. My hitachi nailer always ejected the last round in the coil, so normally by the end of a roof I had all the loose nails I needed.. Ridge vents caps always needed 3" hand drives but I use a palm nailer rather than a thumb detector.. I can say without hesitation that some coil roofing nails are way better. Back in 2004-2012 it was bostitch brand nails that had it right. Even nailing old petrified SYP planks the nails went in straight. Off brand nails (grip-rite) SUCK something terrible, they fold over or the head bends over leaving a hole in the shingle instead of flushing out tight.. They d
  6. The dust cover is reasonably stiff, it has a slight amount of play if you grab and twist it.. It would be unacceptable on a rifle, but seems stiff enough for a red dot or other reflex optic..
  7. I have about 200-250 rounds through one.. Looks to be decently well made, Saiga-12 magazines are not a perfect fit but you can watch my other video on that.
  8. Steel roof installs are not the magic solution they are sold as.. I prefer shingles because there is a certain redundancy. They can be patched in the event of a tree impact.
  9. Just so you know in most states that is not allowed unless your car is disabled and stopped. I get a chuckle when I see people from out of the area with four ways on in the rain.. Apparently a daily occurance is a terrifying hazard to them.. It rains bucketfuls everyday in Florida and just because you can't see the road is no excuse to be doing under 80, plus its not like you're going to prolong your life anyway, you're just going to get shot for looking at someone wrong at the gas station or beaten to death for an Xbox.. Just get on with it.
  10. Skilled labor costs money. Little projects eat up a lot of time.
  11. Well since I am in Florida and everything is packed with people: I will have a couple beers at home after work, and something unhealthy for dinner. And take my day off next week when everyone else is back at work. There are just too many people in the area for the holidays to be enjoyable.
  12. Be sure to check the rating on your hitch.. One thing you may want using an F-150 is a sway bar set, pulling 6500 lbs gets pretty hairy (weight of water in tank plus the stuff you will likely have).. There are travel trailer forums that have all sorts of helpful info.
  13. Just a suggestion... AK files could be a good place to cross post.. they have more overall site traffic, but less saiga specific.
  14. Halloween candy, pack of razor knife blades, box of rat poison (also a bottle of antifreeze but you said three) That got some looks.. I was helping my father pack up the cabin for the winter, bought candy for the trip, razor knife blades for cutting plastic sheeting for dust covers, and rat poison to keep the crawl space critter free.. They sat there for a solid 15 seconds looking at the four items with their hand on the phone..
  15. It also boasts a 16.3" barrel and weighs a compact 9.25 lbs How is weight compact and how is having a normal length barrel "boasting"??
  16. The magazines may be a problem. All of the saiga magazines use the case neck as a contact location, with a larger round you are likely to run into feed issues. May want to get a box of ammo and test the magazines before building the rifle.
  17. A factory mag? Did the feed lip pop of and it became a shotgun shell rocket?
  18. Collecting starts getting redundant whenever you have duplicates.. Ownership is different, for your needs you may keep a stock of multiple similar or same rifles. I sadly have an entire collection of weird stuff.. I have something like 14 different calibers to keep stocked something like 23 different magazine types. What I really love is that I have five .308s right now and none of them use interchangeable magazines... I only have two pairs of guns that have interchangeable mags. I really only have the full collection because I need to be able to live fire a test mag from time to tim
  19. I think Ben is meaning he treats his firearms as poorly as he treats his tools. I treat my rifles the same as I treat my tools in my shop.. I clean them after use so that they are in good condition for the next use.. I don't clean a rifle after a handful of fired rounds, but I don't just throw them in a heap dripping wet either.. Back when I worked construction I used to clean my tool pouches every couple days to get the nasty off of them, a little wipe down with mink oil the same as my boots every couple weeks. Many people in the construction trades throw away a lot of money and effi
  20. For a pistol I would recommend something small that has a decent trigger. A LCP II or LC9S are both considered decent carry pistols.. I can't see carrying a .45 or a full sized glock, they are huge, unless you wear a coat all the time or are HUGE there is no hiding a pistol that size.. I'm fat and I can't get a Glock 19 to hide, I'm currently dropping weight due to a huge reduction in stress eating (thanks trump... Does that make it a yuge reduction?), with every few pounds the lumpiness that would hide a pistol is going away.. So I am currently looking more and more at an LCP II instead of a
  21. I would avoid building a poly lower with a 9mm, they are blowback guns and are harder on the receivers.. The .22lr is a good idea.
  22. If he canceled them right away it would cause problems. I would expect a slow roll back starting in about six to eight months.
  23. We have kinda stopped posting over here.. The cost of advertising is higher than the return.. I'm mostly over on Vepr.org and AKfiles. We are pondering the options, we looked over the tooling and think most of it is ok, one of the pieces needs a redo. we could make a repair and a small update vs a larger retool. Understand that the market is slowing down, so we are looking for big volume items as well as the specialty stuff.
  24. More likely you will be escorted to your car after collecting.
