  1. Maybe 6-8 years ago.. But recently their stuff was pretty much all made in China or India and often was lower end than harbor freight.. I have older craftsmen and it was decent.. However it was always contracted, craftsmen never owned their own factory.
  2. Could be a bunch of things. Use of cast parts rather than forgings. The direction a casting or forging flows not being cross grain to load. Not using cutters that have chamfered or radiused corners. Heat treating without using a heat shield. Heat treating in the wrong type of furnace. The AK was a HUGE pain to get right in russia.. I think it took 15 years between the type 1 and the AK-M. One of the issues you have is that many of these new guns are being designed and built by gun assemblers not true manufacturers. Just because you spent the last 20 years riveting AK parts kits back
  3. I know a few people that got their startup going off of a makerspace.. Just be sure you know the rules, some are NOT cool with anything firearm related. Tormachs are not super expensive. But if you are looking at the full setup it is pretty easy to get to $30K.. Most people are using fusion 360 for cad and cam, and it is FREE for individuals.. If you are making over 100K a year you have to pay for it, but even then it is cheap.. Lots of capability and the cam is about as friendly as anything else.. You can draw up your designs and hit the maker space running. You can put together a pre
  4. Oh.. did you unlock the table, most if not all mill drills have a axis lock on each axis.. Otherwise it is probably an easy part swap to fix.
  5. I figured I'd comment while I am in my corner for a bit (family huh).. I opened the manual before I was going to say anything more.. Just for reference the tool appears to use a vector drive for speed control. Basically a VFD with a few extras. The 230v model CAN run on single phase, because it is a vector drive and is actually converting the power as part of its normal operation. My Haas mill does the same thing. If I am understanding correctly it is not speeding up or slowing down, that would likely be the control board or the input device, either way not terribly easy to figure out. It
  6. The unit uses electronics to change its speed.. So if it is not working odds are that component is damaged.
  7. Cast parts include the bolt, bolt carrier and trunnion.. Some of the issues they had early on was sheared bolt lugs. I do agree that the vepr is the more tied and true gun.
  8. Older ones had issues.. It seems they have them mostly resolved now. They are made in China.. Mostly cast parts.
  9. I doubt the spring is causing a lot of resistance. It is more likely that grit has worked into the pocket that the LRBHO stop sits in.. Or the hammer is a little tight on the lever pivot.. Or perhaps a combination of other factors. If it stopped locking back, but seems to activate with the action is cycled by hand, it is possible that your gas system or ports is plugged a little.
  10. there is not a whole lot to the LRBHO setup.. If you want to get it back exactly the same, I'd count the rotations on the nut. Once you take it apart it is not so daunting.
  11. I used to kick out a LOT of 00 buck using a sharpshooter mold, my brother built a shear that would clip both pellets in a single cut. We opened up the pockets to allow a larger head of lead to help fill out the mold. One thing we did near the end of the molds life was to open all the pockets into a single cavity to allow a modified bottom pour lead pot to fill the mold in a single pour, then we would shear the pellets off and melt the spur again.. Currently my mold is sitting in a drawer, the pivot pin wore out after about 1000 lbs of shot. I never played with the lee mold but at o
  12. Link clearly states they expect that item to be AVAILABLE in January of '17. I need to fix that.. Back in August it looked good, a few things changed since then. Once we heard the election results we shuffled our schedule to catch up two years of maintenance over the next couple months.. I figure if I have four more years, I'm going to fix all the annoying broken stuff right now.. We have been knocking machines apart one after another for repair. Getting my flickering lights fixed, got the musty smell out of the shop A/C too. We should be back to running full speed soon. The 20 gau
  13. Be aware that they are still banned from import.. So it may not arrive.
  14. Only thing I bought Friday was from you. 31 minutes after placing order received order shipped email. I try to keep up with shipping . I did have trouble finding a place to drop them. post office was packed.
  15. Did all my spending online.. In between packing boxes (yeah I'm working both sides of Black Friday)
  16. I'm full up.. I cannot think of anything else I want.
  17. Black Friday sale out now.

  18. The tear drop ones? I've wondered what happened to those. I was an early adopter to the promag one and won't give them another cent. They clearly released it to market before development was finished. They were selling them in a condition that absolutely couldn't work, and knew it. It was a shame to see them hold market share with those shenanigans, and I've wanted to see anyone else sell a good 10/22 real hi cap, drum or otherwise. Company was operating out of Michigan, but machining operations was based in toledo OH.. The Corp was based in Nevada for whatever reasons. We are supposed
  19. Last time I had money shortages was shortly before the Saiga .308 stamped mags dropped.. Had to not pay myself for a little bit.. Been doing pretty decent ever since. But I take a very low salary with the idea of growing my business. Not everyone lives like a hermit. We bought a CNC mill cash. From a company that went out of business trying to make drum mags for the 10/22. They took out a loan and got burned when they hit a little hiccup. Never use banks when you are developing a product.. They don't understand the process, go get your own money and use that.
  20. This is likely the Golden Tiger hard primer stuff.. We are running it in AR rifles with wolff extra power hammer springs, and enhanced 5.45x39 firing pins. Basically the firing pin needs to travel a little further, and a little faster to make them go off. Between myself and my brother we have 22,000 rounds of the stuff.. SGammo is dumping it at $160 a case I have heard of people taking out the spring that holds the firing pin back in the Saiga .223.. Just be sure it gets put back or you could have the gun slam fire on commercial ammo.
  21. I have bins that are labeled by category. That way I am not looking for some item for hours. Scrap metal is scrap and goes in the scrap hopper.. If it can't be sorted it is most likely trash. I am less afraid to throw things away, almost everything can be bought again. My space is worth something.
  22. Videos exist of them.. I'd imagine the issue holding them up is random failures to restack. Or some sort of issue getting them working as a mass produced item. It is the nature of a double to single stack with a rim.. Patent is good for another 10-13 years so I won't be looking into it any time soon. The Patent drawings show features that don't seem to have enough ability to prevent malfunctions, and I don't think it is possible to make it happen.
  23. The bulk of Saiga .308 had the looser magazine catches. Only about 20% ran tight, we chose to go with the most common variation. My own rifle is a tighter one and I have to file the magazines or they fall out. I think it is stupid that the factory making a relatively precision item (firearm) had variations of up to 3/16" on their magazine catches.. I almost think they changed them in an attempt to prevent early after market magazines from working.
  24. Well I got my glock 17 gen 3.. I don't think I need to share a picture, its basically a black plastic brick that is sorta gun shaped.
  25. 3500 rds of .22lr and four more cases of hard primer .223 ammo from sgammo. Also grabbed a 20 pack of glock mags from psa, buying a glock soon to go with them. I need to get the last couple parts for my saiga conversions.. otherwise I'm good for the next decade or so.
