  1. Just sharing some photos from the Krebs Customs shoot this last weekend with Everyday Civilian and 13c Gun Reviews.

Had a line up of Krebs Rifles, some Post samples.  Some new stuff and some prototypes.  They also brought along a converted SAW and a Swedish K.

Here's a few of my favorite shots.

  2. Silly to work an 80% at the prices fully machined lowers are going for.

Have to agree here unless you have good reason to do an 80%.

I did an 80% forged lower recently, here were my thoughts shared elsewhere.

So, I got and completed my first 80% lower recently.  Someone asked about the experience so here is my opinion.

Would I do it again? ...Maybe.  The work wasn't hard but it was time consuming.
The whole process took me about 5 hours over the total of three evenings in the garage.  (I am sure the process gets faster the more you do.)  Plus I have a huge mess to clean up.  But that's my fault since I don't have a shop vac and forgot to borrow one from work.

I didn't have the tools other than the drill press.  Luckily, I was able to borrow a jig and router.  Total cost for me to have a lower has been $20 + whatever finishing is going to be.

For me it comes down to cost and time, if you are doing one (1) it just isn't cost effective if you don't happen to already own the tools.  Plus four to five hours to get it done.
If you plan on doing several or even a build party with friends then I can see the draw.

    So, final thoughts.
    • It was fun.
    • I am glad I did it.
    • Being able to have everything shipped to your doorstep is awesome.
    • Doing only one is pricey.
    • It's slightly time consuming.
    • It's messy.
    • I can see the benefits of having all the equipment and several inexpensive 80% lowers stashed away, for whatever.

  3. Thanks for the range report. I've got a 223 I'd like to convert to accept AR Mags. Really like your setup. Any wisdom on the mag conversion process would be great.

The red dots are giving me issues too, I'm contemplating running a prism next. I like my posp, but want something different.

    Thanks man.

I didn't do the conversion.  Definitive Arms did it.  So I can't help there.

How are you having issues with red dots?  Can you elaborate?

Took the Saiga to the range again. Ran flawlessly again.

Was only able to put about 75 rounds through as I was splitting my hour and ammo between several rifles.

What was cool was shooting it right after shooting my AR and feeling the difference in the recoil impulse and carrier moving. With the Griffin brake you can really feel the carrier's travel. More of a push.

I really like the LRBHO. I can tell easily when I'm dry, no click.

  4.

These women saying they'll be Muslim need to live in Saudi Arabia or Dubai for a year! Idiots.

They wouldn't last long. They would go there thinking they could run their mouths as they do here in a free country and suffer the consequences of it.

I really can't believe this is where some Americans are. I would have never predicted it. The worst thing about it is that these sucker youths will rapidly follow to be part of a "movement". Like lemmings to the cliff...

This is my biggest worry.  We've got a generation of pussy men and loud mouth women.  And the progressive public school system is only reinforcing it.

We have a 3 year old girl now and another due in April.  Sending to Charter schools to start and then probably private.  Going to be hell on my wallet but I'm going to be hell to those teachers.  I will not have my legacy be that of what we see now.

  5. If I am able to consistently hit an 8" plate at 100 yards then I'm a happy guy. Looks good to me. With the AK platform you kind of have to manage accuracy expectations anyway.

ETA: I've been meaning to compliment you on your photos. Excellent.

    Thanks sir.

Yeah, with the 1-9 twist and being an AK I was expecting somewhere in the 2moa neighborhood and happy with anything better.

I should have my Weaver Tactical 2-10 Wednesday.  I've got the RS mount to run it.  I'll try to hit the range again this weekend and see just how good I can do.

  6. Love that mag conversion. Hope to do the same. Did the internals need shaving to make it fit?

And if that is 50 yards, your groups look better than mine to date!

    Always striving for 1moa.  Haha.

Yes, some material was removed to allow all parts to work, including getting the AR mags in high enough.  How much and what material I honestly don't know.  That's why I would have NEVER attempted a conversion on my own.
