  1. The reason Tapco and Saiga's are incompatible is the fact that most Saiga's have the bolt hold device that requires metal to be removed from the right side of the hammer to have clearance for the bolt device. I have worked with many eastern block trigger sets and RSA adjustables,Tapco's, and Jard AK triggers. I have had a few multi fires also and most of it comes from extremely light pressure on the trigger during recoil. At the range a friend and son were shooting an AK74, the son went through 40 rounds while target shooting not a double, father sits down and was doubling several times. I wat
  2. The stock pictured above seems to be Romak 3 which was made for the Romy AK47 rcvr. They come around every once in while. I have one for an AK and it is mounted. I have used the choate stock for my 308 saiga. The difference between the romak3 stock and the PSL stock is the horizontal cut goes farther back into the PG than the PSL. I'll take some pictures of it in the next day or 2 as I have 2 PSL's and a Romak3 stocked AK47
  3. My favorite load for X39 is 31 grains of BLC-2 with a hornady 123 grain SP. This is my standard load for Saiga and AK and is very accurate.
  4. These are my handloads, I use 168 gr Hdy HP or 168 Sierra Match Kings with 42 grains of Reloader 15 with an AOL of 2.8
  5. Man I think you need to shoot a 308 with a brake, there is a heck of difference in control. The pix I added are of a 100 yard target shooting 168 gr Sierra Match Kings with 42 grains of Varget. The brake in the second photo is the AK74 type from Dinzag I have since machined another type of brake that works even better.
  6. Dude Saiga's are tight! that GB is not going to come off with out a press and a press plate. I hope you did push the locating pin out first.
  7. All the pressure felt on the piston happens when the AK piston is in the gas block. You could literally fire an AK with out the tube but the piston would not make it back to the bas block without the tube. You will be fine with a vented tube.
  8. I have an AR10 with a 24" bull barrel that likes 168 gr SMK's with 43 gr of Varget, I have a Long Barrel 308 Saiga the will shoot the 168/43 grain load also. The Saiga has the RS trigger and a custom brake. The Saiga could not touch the AR for accuracy. But i'm comparing a bull barreled rifle with a nat match trigger to a reasonably light barreled Saiga. I can get close to 1.25 inch with the Saiga @100yds,I can get less than an inch with the AR 10..
  9. I solved my denting problem but it ain't cheap. Google a Valmet Ejection Port buffer. Expensive but it does work well. here it is: http://www.robertrtg.com/valmetbuffer.html
  10. Do not heat brake cleaner, there are lots of warnings. Brake cleaner heat becomes something like Phosgene or Nerve Gas. A lot of people have put themselves in serious trouble cooking that stuff after using it to clean grease off of metal.....
  11. Yes I have and it works great I made a small fixture to do the trigger, the hammer is very easy but you must keep your work straight.
  12. A 22 cal brush will stick in the barrel so be very careful. I use a OTIS pull through barrel cleaning device. Also have used a 22 call bore snake and a .204 bore snake.
  13. +1 on AR Comp, this stuff works great in my 223 and my 308
  14. OK I took to shots of my 308 with the RSA trigger, I riveted my trigger guard as I have the build stuff to do that. But my set up looks like a bolt and nut would also have room
