  1. Exactly. The whole "5.45 pistol" issue was a well known reputation killer. The timing was probably because Gil Kerlikowske just became head of CBP a month ago. He's a serious anti-gun POS.....http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2183675/posts...... According to ATF's advisory...."(ATF) received a request from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency (CBP) to conduct a test, examination and classification of Russian-made 7N6 5.45x39 ammunition for purposes of determining whether it is considered “armor piercing ammunition” as defined by the Gun Control Act (GCA), as amended."
  2. ATF obviously went searching for an AK pistol that wasn't just made in some guy's garage. They know that they have a weak case. If they felt like they had a strong argument, they wouldn't have picked a Polish pistol that was approved for import in 2011 and never sold in the US.....Commercial production changes nothing. 7n6 was designed as rifle ammo.
  3. I'm not so sure I like this statement by the NRA..... "We encourage you to contact your representatives in Congress and ask them to urge BATFE to reconsider its classification of 7N6 as armor piercing ammunition or to grant 7N6 a “sporting purposes” exemption, as it has been imported and safely used for lawful purposes for many years." If ATF tries to weasel their way out of this one by granting an "exemption", we need to keep fighting. That's not good enough. If ATF offers an exemption, it's because they know that they will lose the fight in Federal court. The AP ammo statute was never i
  4. Great point.....This fight is about the bigger picture. I'd love to see the import ban on 7.62x39 steel core lifted. And we all know ATF want's 54r next.
  5. Please spend a few minutes to read this.... http://www.lawandfreedom.com/site/firearms/GOA_Comments_ATF.pdf and this..... http://www.nraila.org/news-issues/articles/2012/batfe-taking-comments-on-sporting-purposes-exemption-to-armor-piercing-ammunition-law-until-dec-31.aspx.... Regardless of whether this 7n6 issue is legit, we MUST fight to revise the legal definition of "AP ammo".. A federal judge would agree that Congress never intended on giving "a guy who made a '.50 bmg handgun in his garage" so much power to control the people's rights. The issue just needs to make it to federal cou
  6. How so? Who is going to sue them and face millions of dollars in expenses for an almost guaranteed defeat? NRA and GOA have tried it and generally lose. Their goal is to stop the people from becoming armed. I would think that any step toward making it harder on us regular folks would be a victory for them and their supporters (the moronic voters that got Mao 2 terms). Thanks for your pessimism. A simple fucking google search will show you the history of the BATF getting sued for stupid shit. This would be an easy one. I agree with Stryker....This should be an easy one to fi
  7. William J. Olsen's law firm representing Gun Owners of America, Inc. and Gun Owners Foundation...... They have already pinpointed the problem. ATF is using the statute, which is too vague, to push through their agenda. Congress never intended ATF to use this statute this way. The document from December 2012 explains this issue perfectly....http://www.lawandfreedom.com/site/firearms/GOA_Comments_ATF.pdf ATF has claimed an authority it does not possess.
  8. Everyone needs to support this. -http://www.lawandfreedom.com/site/firearms/GOA_Comments_ATF.pdf William J. Olsen and/or Gun Owners of America, Inc. and Gun Owners Foundation. It needs more exposure
  9. Everyone should take a moment to read this. I think this the argument we need to focus on......http://www.lawandfreedom.com/site/firearms/GOA_Comments_ATF.pdf Some more info from William J. Olsen.......http://lawandfreedom.com/site/firearms/index.html "Today our firm filed comments with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives ("ATF") on behalf of Gun Owners of America, Inc. and Gun Owners Foundation pursuant to the ATF request for comments on the use of the “sporting purposes” exemption for “certain projectiles from regulation as ‘armor piercing’ ammunition.” These comm
  10. It looks fine. Just don't do it again.
  11. Black Forge Weapons offers nickel boron and nickel phosphate refinishing for AK's. I just saw a nickel phosphate refinished Vepr-12. Try giving them a call.
  12. There's a lot of work involved. Black Forge did it with a slant back 5.45 Vepr. It was very nice, but it would be much easier to use the correct trunnion set. Rusmilitary offers them, but they are currently sold out.

  14. MAA has SGM 12 rounders in stock. 42 left.
  15. Is the rear of the trigger sitting on a rivet or screw inside the receiver? It looks like the bolt carrier might be pushing on the back of the disconnector. If this is the case, you may have to mill down the rear of the trigger and/or the rivet/screw. Just make sure to use blue locktite on the set screws.....If I were you, I would also re-profile the bolt carrier and red star hammer.
  16. Red stars are a little pricey compared to other AK fcg's, but they are certainly worth it.
  17. There should be less of a gap between the puck and op-rod in the vepr.....On the vepr-12's i've seen, the puck stops pushing the op-rod immediately after the bolt unlocks from front the trunnion. I think this is what Molot was going for. I don't think the op-rods are necessarily meant to bottom out in the bolt carrier.
  18. It's now sold out.... Hopefully they continue to enter the US.
  19. Yeah, but on the vepr rifles, the rivet/trunnion holes in the receiver and side rail are in a different location than the holes in the ak100 series trunnion. (a little closer to the rear of the receiver.) I had to drill new holes in the trunnion to use the side rail and existing holes. I believe the vepr12 uses the same rear trunnion as the rifles.
  20. I think you will have to drill new holes in the trunnion in order to use the existing rivet holes on the vepr receiver.
