  1. Haha I know I was only teasing... When I saw that in the store I had to convince the guy that it's a shorcut to california legality, and most likely with the anticipation of the buyer putting a pg/ maglock on.
  2. Here is one company's method of making Cali Legal AKs Lol... Anyway I've never tried the ak with the kydex grip. I've always preferred retaining the use of my magazine releases here in California, so I can see your aversion to the maglock.
  3. Also you could look into just a lower tri rail like the one I just installed http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/65465-guntech-lower-tri-rail/ Many quadrails clamp down on the barrel and that's a no go for me since I shoot corrosive/disassemble my gun for a nice cleaning and don't want to take off the hanguard each time I want to remove the gas tube. Hope that helps a bit =)
  4. I remember a thread a while back asking if these fit the Saigas because they explicitly state "Will not Fit Saigas". I'm here to confirm that yes, they do fit them and of course all is needed is a handguard retainer. Here is a picture of it with some rail panels on it. I know I know I should have posted a picture without the panels on.. but holy shit they were a pain to put on ! Here's a bare pic I found of it at gunbroker
  5. I picked up a pretty cheap milled Hungarian lower handguard with the idea that I could slightly modify it to work on my saiga. Going from stamped to milled all you have to do is dremel a bit off it, so how about the reverse procedure? I had two ideas. The first (and I believe better and less easy to f* up, easy to undo) idea would be to screw in a wooden block or shim. About the width of a nickel on the bottom and the width of a dime on the sides. When I fit the handguard with my spare change inside (heh) it was very sturdy and had no wobble whatsoever. This may ultimately be the path
  6. This story makes me sick. You'd think the government would care once one of their own agents was murdered. Seems like it's easier to get a 50 cal to take to mexico than it is to bring it to cali.
  7. +1 to yugo brass. Has never failed me and is plenty accurate. I think the sites all have 70s era yugo 7.62... I run 50's era yugo in my 8mm mauser and wow I could not ask for any more accuracy out of it for how inexpensive and old it is. Also allows me to get romantic with my guns back at home.
  8. This, any good manufacture of magazines will not design the mag so that the spring will be compressed to the point where it will cause wear. So yes you can leave your mags loaded, just fire em off every now and again because indentations or deformities in the shape of the cartridge can occur.
  9. I believe AoA charged me $16 dollars to ship my last rifle.
  10. I've been interested in options too. I purchased an original style retainer with the expectation of removing the blocks etc but now my time and money has disappeared. I'm thinking of getting one of the above mentioned or getting creative with the one I have.
  11. Yes it is...lol but still at 25 aint good...guess it depends on what you classify as rapid fire though too...but if it works for you then thats whats important...I wasnt happy till I was in the center 2-3inches of my target at 50 yards... I guess I meant "I hope he meant 8 inches during rapid fire". Haha Yeah, I rarely fire closer than 50 myself unless I'm sighting something in.
  12. I'm assuming he meant 8 inch during rapid fire? Also isn't moa an angular measurement? 8moa at 25 is still 8moa at 100 yards =).
  13. Storm the one where you kept the original stock with the pistol grip actually looks pretty sweet!
  14. uh oh... =). Haha yes my 7.62 has the stock trigger group too, I only wanted to spend the money to convert the 5.45 at first. It's not terrible at all.
  15. Good people? I know of several members here who have been screwed over by them not updating their website... Yes, if anyone is going to order them please do it over the phone. They were great guys to work with, since I called them anytime I had a question or issue. They're book keeping seems a bit off though, every time I called in the asked me to provide them with the FFL they were shipping it to, though it was present on my order information. Don't expect them to answer any emails though, heh. They are good guys though.
