  1. The Federal Government hasn't done any adequate gun policy studies in years. Hence the President's 14th executive order directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence. UH NO. #14 is not a good thing. The CDC was expressly prohibited from using tax payer money for doing "studies" because they were most notably done on the behalf of anti-gun administrations. The best example being the bullshit "study" in 93 that "proved" gun ownership was a hazzard to your helth, it was used to push the 94 AWB. If you want your own money working against
  2. Yep... been there, done that, don't want to again. It's what you do it seems, but I enjoy shooting the guns way more than dicking with them I emailed the guy last night, he said 4 ports at 5/64. So, seems like it's good to go. I put a bid in on it, we'll see where it goes I guess!
  3. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=326401930 Says it's 922r, says very low milage... I need to know what is fair, and I'll take a little off of that to make my bid I just wouldn't want to over-pay. I'm not exactly following that. I'll guess someone thought it was spam? Whatever, no issues.
  4. I'm looking to buy this gun, I think my post in the Saiga forum was deleted. It's on gunbroker, 18" barrel, threaded, 4 ports, autoplug, AR grip, fixed stock, magpul grip, polychoke flash hider, barrel mounted front sight, peep rear, 3x 5 round mags. And two tone paint, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a link. Anyone?
  5. I took the barrel out of my Saiga-12, cut it down to 18 (was a 24) and reinstalled. I had all the right tools... lathes, presses, vices, hammers, pins, punches, etc... and would NEVER do it again. The Russians don't really want that barrel coming out.
  6. Say what you want about the Taiwan 5 rounders, they have been every bit as good as my factory 5 rounders.
  7. As my research has told me, the "BEST" folding mechinism is the AK-100 series folding stock. It's also expensive and difficult. It needs several cuts in the receiver at the rear trunnion, and some cuts near the front for the catch to lock up when folded. Those parts are also rare and expensive. The up side is that if you want a REALLY expensive stock, you can put on an SVD-S stock and that's pretty bad ass. Do you really want "BEST"? Most people don't go anywhere near that amount of trouble. Which is why ACE parts are so common.
  8. When I pulled my barrel off and turned it down to 18", I had to take it to my backup machinist because my primary didn't have a lathe that could cut metric threads. If you can get the barrel off, it's easy to re-thread. Getting it on is SIMPLE as well, it's really the getting it off part that's an issue.
  9. AS I UNDERSTAND IT... which could be completely wrong. It's a pressure sensitive release valve. That is X pressure is required to run the gun and any pressure over that is useless. The autoplug is set to vent pressure over X (when set correctly). So, if 2X pressure comes in the vent opens and shuts when it's back to it's setting, ideally right at X. It's actually a fairly cool idea, and I wonder why it's not applied to AR and AKs that have gassing issues when suppressed. This is how I THINK it works, I haven't disassembled it to look, and haven't even studied the outside all that we
  10. I didn't look very hard, but in my research I did see a lot of people talking about this (the autoplug), the gunfixer plug, V-plug, stock, etc etc. If I could not have the autoplug I would choose V-Plug, but I can not imagine a scenario were I would WANT to manually adjust settings, the autoplug just works so well (so far of course). Good to know about adjusting the spring now and then, I suppose this could be for heat/temper/wear/etc. I also wonder if Tac-47 used an off the shelf spring just incase I ever need another?
  11. I pulled the barrel off, cut to 18", re-threaded, opened the ports up and re-installed. I wouldn't advise it unless you own a press, but it IS do-able. Edit: I should say it IS DOABLE without a press... I did it, but wow, it's a bit of work.
  12. I'll need to write a more formal write up soon, but I took my S12 out today for a test run. Within 5 rounds I had the autoplug tuned and running great. I am not only surprised how well it worked, but SHOCKED really. I like the idea of how it works, but was expecting something a little more time consuming. One thing I noticed is that after almost exactly 100 rounds of low brass, target, clays, slugs, 00 buck, the puck was not very dirty at all, minor crap but nothing that bad. There was however a little bit of crap on the front of the autoplug. I am assuming some of the crap that would oth
  13. ? $679 is a the deal? I have a little local shop still selling for $575, maybe I should buy them up and make a couple bucks. I take it back. It seems even my little local shop that had three last week is empty. So $679 is good if they are in stock. I mean, good if you're willing to pay that. I would put that kind of money towards the Benelli if it were me, but I already own a S12 so what do I know? A couple weeks ago when I bought my S12 from this little shop he didn't believe me about a ban scare. I bet he believes it now!

  15. Depends if we're crash forming or using three part dies. The metal at my day job is 3/16 thick over 6 feet or 16ga over 10feet in some applications we're holding enough that if we made a receiver it would be well within .003 with stretch and elastic pull. Likewise, my MP5 is supposed to be 20mm ID on the main tube iirc and it's dead nuts on. Dude, if you think this CSW part is causing a HOW TO MODIFY TO MAKE WORK thread of 8 pages long over .003 you're nuts. Judging on the posts written here , it looks to me like this part is .100" off if not damn near it. From what I can tell, these
