What about cosmoline built up in the bolt? I've heard of needing to clear it all out with mineral spirits or carb cleaner spray.
I will have pictures shortly, but light primer strike seems to be the issue.
The pin is hitting the ammo (Federal ammo btw) but nothing occurs? I don't have the gun to try it with other ammo yet.

It function checked just as in the CSS videos I watched when converting it. My Saiga was identical in appearance and function as in the instructions and CSS demo gun.I pulled the trigger after cocking it and it dry fired just as it should have. I never got it to the range because my friend begged me and paid me to sell him the gun there and then. I did not say no.

are ther any light marks or dents in primers fireng pin may be to short
Great suggestion to check for. A friend had this happen before.
A large amount of money appeared before my eyes without me ever firing the gun.........

Nothing from buyer yet...

If he has tampered with the gun there is no way to tell what is wrong from the little information. You looking it over would be the best way to find out. Or take some pictures of the inside and post em up to make sure everything is assembled correctly.
Will do that. Just insanely curious how a Saiga does not go bang right off the bat.

UPDATE:
"AK specialist" he spoke with says the Saigas need ammo with a "more exposed primer"......and that he should switch ammo. O......K?

Conversion of my gun went smoothly this winter, and I actually sold it without firing it to a buddy.
Today he goes to the range, and gun won't fire at all. He has decided there is an issue with the firing pin.
"Interesting one", I say to myself. Never heard of an AK not firing, or Saiga supplying a faulty bolt/firing pin.
I converted the gun and never disassembled the bolt, it is as it arrived from the factory.
This friend is extremely impatient. He will take the whole gun apart in a fit and lose a small part, most assuredly. He knows zero about AKs.
Can someone help me out here (not with the don't sell guns to friends part, as he and I constantly trade)?

Not sure what you're asking...
You want to know what to replace it with or how to remove it?
You can just tap it out and replace it with specific HG nuts and screws from many different vendors.
I think that answers both?
You nailed it!

During installation of the Intrafuse hand guard, I got on it a bit too tight and torqued the allen head cap screw, and need to replace it. I need to get it out and replace it. I don't think the bolt is frozen or anything it was just crappy hardware and my allen driver was harder metal than the bolt.
What size and thread pitch is the handguard bolt? Pretty sure it's the handguard bolt. I sold my Saiga to my buddy so he has the gun. I can't just go look at it. I need to make the gun 100% for my buddy.
Fo removal I figure a LH drill bit?
Anyone ruined theirs and replaced it lately?

Elaborate please........

I need to get my thoughts straight on how to set up the TAT, how deep to thread it into the die when getting started......
-
The only way to defray that initial cost is to buy more Saigas! I did have to buy my gear for this project (except the die stock, which I already own), but I do plan on threading my backordered 7.62 Saiga whenever it gets in. If it get in, I should say.
One of my hunting buddies offered me $750 this evening for the Saiga and I've never fired it.......gonna let him have it and probably buy another in .308.
Sans FSC47 and the TWS Dogleg, but ready to shoot:
-
Cut end of FSB off and ordered die handle, 14x1LH die and 7.62 TAT guide from CNC warrior for $54 shipped. FSC47 waiting to go on.
-
Dr. T....did you rent your 14x1LH die and die handle/TAT?
Sure would hate to buy one of these setups to use ONCE...............
Well I bought the entire kit from CNC Warrior, all in, including cutting oil, for $55.
Anyone wanna rent it after I'm done?

Good answer Dude.

I was just about to pile on....mine took all of 10 min A-Z, Makita 12V cordless, Dinzag's supplies. Not a big deal unless you don't lean into it and use a shit bit. Sorry.

Laser was low at about 5-8 feet.

Didn't your rifle come with a cleaning kit? The thing that looks vaguely like a screwdriver has a notched end made to adjust the front sight pin vertically.
If you have a vise or c-clamp and a socket you can adjust for windage. It's not ideal, but it works.
I wouldn't put too much faith in the boresighter. My 308 definitely doesn't put the bullets where the laser says it should go. I don't know why, but the windage the boresighter shows is pretty far off.
Yeah I do have the cleaning kit...forgot about that. Cool you just saved me some ducats. I can also do the DIY press thing with a C clamp and small socket....should work fine. More goofily is the fact that we have to straighten our FSBs ourselves, the gas block, etc. I just hope it shoots straight, slap the dogleg on her and a Trij scope/EOTech and get them piggies.
Maybe the boresighting cartridge is just not a perfect fit in the barrel, and thus some wobble magnifies over distance. I'm going to check it again at 25m just to see.....

Who is selling Saigas for $300 cuz I'll take 2 TODAY.
Just finished my X39 build....gonna shoot it asap.

25 metre target, set rear sight at 1, move everything OPPOSITE of your bullet strike to zero in. Got it.
-
All done. Bullet ramp in. FSB drifted on & indexed as close as I could get. EOTech 512 and TWS dogleg enroute.
First, I wanna try to sight in the irons.
I've dubbed my AKM "Natalia" after a rather fine, fine lookin' woman I know from Sevastopol, Ukraine.
I need some help sighting her in. I used a laser bore sight cartridge indoors, and from about 15-18' the dot is low and left a bit. Looks to me like I need to screw down the front site pin almost all the way down (....remember I transferred this sight pin from my old FSB) however I don't have a tool to safely do so or adjust L & R.
Is there a DIY for this anywhere? I managed to screw down the front pin with some needle noses.....but I ain't risking it further.
I'm going crazy NOT shooting this gun.

IT IS ON.

After lunch I finally got fed up (my bud called me about his new 6.8spc he's building and how the AK will be useless on hogs). Indexed the FSB as best I could, and tapped it on while simply holding the rifle in my left hand with a dead blow hammer. It's on there tight as hell. Laser boresight shows my irons are high at close range (and must be way high at range) and a hair left. I guess I gotta screw down that front sight pin. Any DIYs for that? I'm not dependent on irons but want to get this gun out and shoot it.
Click. No bang. First time at the range.

Just saw really good video on how to disassemble and reassemble it:
I now see what I must look for as Greg says above. My gut tells me "somebody" fubar'd the bolt.......
