  1. Thank you. 14X1 LH hider/brake is already purchased, and I hate the 74 brakes, don't ask me why. Has anyone installed the brake above?
  2. I'm working with an FSC47 and already removed my FSB. I started looking for non-threaded FSBs. Turns out KVar has a nice one for $34, the AK333: http://www.k-var.com...&cat=290&page=1 Press it on, thread barrel, screw on FSC47 problem solved.
  3. Cerakote is on there once baked, Alumahyde 2 is similar but requres less heat to fully cure....Duracoat takes much longer to cure and requires bead blasting. For AKs the Cerakote is applied over parkerizing the AK first. I have a Benelli M2 at the Cerakote application station now.....
  4. Too bad the bore diameter is so big, otherwise perfect configuration for our application. This may fit: http://yankeehillmachine.com/store/product178.html
  5. Now that is cool and looks like it might work......whose is it?
  6. Might as well get a Dogleg for that cash, and an optic.
  7. So no votes for Hornady steel V-Max or Double Tap? http://www.cabelas.c...r:referralID=NA For hogs I'd pay $0.49 then reload em. Cheap stuff for fun shooting, close in tac range stuff under 100 yds, though that Tiger ammo supposedly is great.
  8. A super steady hand and a 6" Makita angle grinder fitted with an abrasive cutting disc made VERY short work of it. PB Blaster down the barrel/sleeve gap, wipe off excess, then make a level cut on each side of the FSB as a guide, and follow it, check your progress so you don't cut into the barrel. Once you are right there insert sturdy screwdriver to crack the FSB cuts and tap off with a soft mallet. I nicked my barrel about 1/64 deep.....FAR shallower, 90% shallower than the dimples in the barrel from the factory. Took 3 minutes. I am putting a FSC47 on the end, and might paint the barrel
  9. That was my concern. Man I wish I had my freaking bullet guide so I could fire this thing, even without sights. My buddy spotted me his extra Trij Acog 4x for a while....BUT I HAVE NO RAIL.
  10. Boar shot three weeks ago Saturday, 200# on the scale. 2AM with PVS 14 and EOTech on M14 .308 rifle. If you look carefully I am wearing slippers.......:
  11. Look at Magpul synthetics or Troy Industries. I'm all over the Magpul synthetics.
  12. I don't know jack about ammo for my 7.62 which is newly converted. What ammo should I try first? Hornady, The Bear, Tiger? I need rounds for smacking feral hogs dead. HELP!
  13. I use them exclusively for Sporting Clays.....very high end/ high quality stuff.
  14. I don't brag, but I am familiar with a grinder. I've been building a 1976 Landcruiser since 2006 (V8, the works, ground up) and you get good with a grinder and die cutter fast. Also I've been making and working in my father in law's knife shop for years (his hobby) and have racked up the hours on the machines and steel in it. When I cut the FSB, I was like, damn. That's a good cut. I will say THANK YOU, though. Finished sans bullet guide en route from Dinzag:
  15. Fixed. Threads were ok miraculously, but I had a tap on hand.....
  16. As I sight down the gun the REAR sight seems canted to me. Is that even possible? I have not twisted on this gun at all while in my shop vise working on it. I cut the FSB off with a 6" cutting wheel on my Makita and scored the barrel slightly 1/64" maybe....far shallower than the divots milled into the barrel for the FSB, in comparison (before the Century Arms Gunsmithing Recruitment jokes start flying....). I have a FSC47 on the way and will thread it on, and I'm thinking BUIS front and rear on a TWS dogleg and forward rail....... This rear sight canting is worrisome though. A
  17. Bravo on that photography sir! Excellent lighting I might add......we younguns 40 and under are addicted to camera phones, sadly. That Nikon software in those cameras still rocks......best pics I've seen yet on an AK site and I've been trolling like hell for 2 weeks solid. Toss in a FCG install and I nominate for a STICKY!
  18. Trying to deal with a Tapco grip nut that's about 2mm too long so the pistol grip won't seat properly......
  19. Dimpled, X and Y stamps....non-threaded. Production date of 09-01-30.
  20. I quickly tired of a pipe cutter, sooooooo I broke out the penetrant and the 6" Makita cutter. Nicked the barrel about 1/64", not bad though. Dimpled indeed. Took all of 1 minute.
