  1. Lets just say you should experience a failure to feed once and a while and particularly the last round of the mag. I bought one and waited to experience a FTF to install it. I believe I went through 6-8 30 round mags before I had my first failure and after that I said one FTF was enough, installed a bullet guide. To build up your confidence, it was the first time I ever drill tapped anything. Not that hard to get 100% reliability.
  2. I would like to hear about anyone else having issues with 7n6 ammo as this is all I will probably shoot out of my saiga... I would be so pissed if I dropped $160 on a case of ammo that key holed that bad.
  3. My certificate had the same white strip sticker over a hand written something. I can't read Russian nor do I know what it stands for. Also, my field name was left black, but an inspection stamp with initials was not too far off that line. Accuracy was 132mm. Yes, it did come with the certificate. Interestingly enough, the original russian writing is covered up with a thin white sticker that says "POCC RU MX03. B01946 OT 21.09.2010r". Underneath the sticker is handwritten and is very hard to read but contains a different set of numbers. Do they normally cover up the handwritten "cer
  4. Shoot a 223 round in it and see what happens...
  5. +100000 On MarkW on Akfiles.com. I have one of his brakes and all it needed was a wipe down for excess cosmoline and a refinish with rust-o-leum high heat for engines. No point at all to pay Kvar brakes. The cost just isnt at all appealing.
  6. Does anyone know if I can purchase some sort of bag that can be wrapped/strapped around the buttstock for storage? I currently have a Tapco AK original stock.
  7. I just wanted to know details about what to modify on the 10 round stock Saiga Magazine to fit into my rifle with a bullet guide already installed? I know it involves shaving down the lip of the magazine, but pictures would be nice. Thanks.
  8. A Saiga is new, built to mil-spec, and easily converted.
  9. My bullet guide took a lot of modifications by myself to function properly. The bullet guide was too high, causing the bolt not able to be shut and locked properly. I had to grind the top of the bullet guide off and refit constantly (was a pain). Drilling and taping was the easiest part of the installation. I felt that hopps gun oil worked well when I was cutting to tap and drill. Glad to see yours went smoother than my installation.
  10. +1 on the cargo management system...gonna have to grab one
  11. If you're being serious about this, what do you use at the bottom of the grip to retain the batteries?
  12. I own a Belarus BP-02 mount and it is solid. It moves front to back a quarter of an inch after locked in maybe, but not anything that will change your sight at distances. The only complaint I have is that it is a little on the heavy side. I have really nothing to compare this mount to as far as weight is concerned, but I can assume that it would be considered heavy. I would also suggest a UTG side mount off of amazon.com. It is made of aluminum I believe and is cheap, light and solid.
  13. Might have to pick me up one... thanks for the reply
  14. That doesn't help me much... any pictures?
  15. Here Does anyone have these on their 5.45s? How do they fit on and how do they work?
  16. Has anyone figured out how to use the hollow grip of the hogue grip for anything? I attempted to shove my cleaning kit in there, but failed...
  17. Yeah... I assumed common sense on this matter. But a Dremel worked fine for me and should work fine for you. Slow and after every pass, fit the mag until it releases to your liking.
  18. Grind the underside (with a dremel) of the red circle I highlighted in the picture. Keep fitting the mag and grind off accordingly. I had the exact same problem and did this modification... all mags work flawlessly.
  19. Oh I didn't mess it up... I should have been more clear. That's why I was saying to drill from the top. It let me pop the 3 rivets from the top side, and then drill the trigger guard spot weld from the top of the cover plate, leaving the trigger guard in pristine shape. ...and I plan to jam it under the mag catch as you say. -ASC I prefer grinding the rivets with a rotary carbide bit instead of drilling them. It leaves no holes to fill later, and doesn't mess up the receiver or trigger guard. Its a method that Gregm showed me, and it looks great when done. I've do
  20. From my understanding, the UTG side mount is high enough to use your irons too... Although I would check this with an owner of one first.
  21. The RS-34 I got with a BP-04 (?) mount is awesome. I snagged both for $125 off the marketplace at akfiles.com. If you want Russian at almost a quarter of the price, then the RS-34 is not a bad option. I reviewed it in the optics section.
  22. You would need to get an additional part for the dot to be mounted on the side of your rifle... Since you are looking at a $20 red dot at cabella's, it is safe to assume you do not want to shell out a lot of cash (nothing wrong with this, I have a budget Saiga build). The best bang for your buck would be ordering THIS side mount. It has awesome reviews and looks pretty bad ass. I own that BSA red dot... for my gamo pellet rifle. I would try to get something that is rated for a firearm's recoil.
  23. Must be a bad experience, but Mississippi Auto Arms took care of me... Very responsive service via Google chat.
  24. I.... just... oh... need new pants
