  1. I had to do this to mine when I did the conversion, I don't think it has anything to with Dinzag parts, proly more to do with vodka specials. Ya. That's what I figured. I looked at photos of everybody else's 308 safety issues. My safety lever has an unholy girth when compared to the other rifles I looked at. When pitting Dinzag individual made parts against mass produced Ivan goodies, I would say Dinzags are a little more carefully made. The additional polishing and seam removal he does on the triggers makes a huge difference when compared to my other Tapco G2. Would buy it again in
  2. Problem solved. I took a tiny amount of material off of the safety. I couldn't reach the trigger leg. Perfect. Safety is rock solid. Trigger has zero slop and doesn't move a hair while on safety. Thanks for the suggestions! I was about to make a dumb decision in a panic state!
  3. I like that idea better than mine. Don't have anything to lose. I may have just ended up with too much added material to the trigger with Dinzag's modified FCG in addition to my safety hating it. I tried all of the above. Some of them with excessive force probably... The way the safety is sloped, it's much easier going down than it is back up. I'll fight with it a bit more though. *EDIT* After looking at my Zastava and comparing to make sure I'm not crazy, I've confirmed that there is just too much material on the trigger leg. Doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of clear
  4. Unfortunately I already tried that. Worked on my Zastava. On my saiga the safety lever on the inside of the receiver hits the rear trunnion and stops dead in its tracks.
  5. So after reassembling my Saiga, the safety lever skidded over the top of the trigger legs and now my safety won't disengage. Bumps into the back of the trigger so it won't go on safe or rotate out. I also used a retaining plate instead of clips or a shepherds crook. Due to these facts, I can't rotate the lever out to remove the safety or the retaining plate in order to try and remedy the safety problem. I cant remove the trigger to rotate the safety because of the retaining plate either. I 'm using dinzag's modified 308 FCG. Any suggestions for I dremel cut off the retaining plate or
  6. Purchased a part from him earlier in the month. He was quick to ship and followed up to ensure I had received the item. Great seller!
  7. I waited about 30 minutes after applying the final coat (3rd) of engine enamel before baking. I used a $10 harbor freight heat gun to keep the section of the receiver I was painting at about 200-220 degrees for 20 minutes. I let the paint cure overnight since I had finished painting late in the afternoon. The next day, I couldn't dig a fingernail into the coat no matter how hard I tried and I went on to install the fcg and grip with no scratches. I don't think I will be going back to letting paint cure on its own for a while.
  8. Thanks guys. I'll go just a bit smaller than the screw on the pilot so I don't have a 'hotdog down a hallway' situation.
  9. Hey guys, I'm about to finish my basic conversion and I'm down to installing my K-Var fixed stock. I was wondering if anybody that used the factory Saiga stock screws remembers what size drill bit they used to drill the pilot hole in the stock. I will eyeball it if I can't get an answer, but I thought I would see if there was a perfect size somebody was aware of. I searched around for a bit, but came up with nothing. Thanks!
  10. Actually I believe it's the other way around. It is fine to shoot .223 in a 5.56 rifle, but you may potentially run into problems attempting to shoot 5.56 in a .223 rifle. Same disclaimer as you though, somebody correct me if I totally missed it.
  11. Thanks for the replies. I'm going to go ahead and grab the used one and not hold too much to the QA paper. It's only had 150 rounds through it, and I'm getting 4x 30 round mags for nearly the same price of the new gun. I also don't have to wait until the end of the month for it!
  12. Jim, That didn't help my inner conflict going on right now after seeing the other replies lol. So is it possible that mine was test fired on a Friday when the employees were hammered? Thanks for lending the prior experience. I was wondering how set in stone those numbers were.
  13. Hey guys, I've been lurking this forum for some time now while I've been gearing up to buy a .223 Saiga. I have a rifle on backorder for $350 + $20 shipping + $25 for transfer at the moment that is supposed to arrive in a couple of weeks. I can still cancel my order though. Today I found someone locally who is selling their rifle. $400 for a 16" .223 with dimples. It includes 4 surefire 30 round mags and a factory 10. Thing is, the factory papers for this rifle show that it shot a 136mm group at the factory. Should I wait for the new rifle and hope for a little better accuracy, or s
