  1. just make sure you dont take too much off where the little bumps ride in the track. as lazlong said, take off a little, and test it... repeat till it holds 10.
  2. yeah, i saw that on the news... i'm no fan of bush, but kerry is such a total loser. as for his quote, when i heard it, it seemed as though he really didnt mean to sound like a dick, and i believe it was a mangled joke line, but it just came out in a way that reinforced how much af a total loser kerry is. i just sort of shook my head slowly at the tv screen.
  3. congrats! it's a great rifle... but I think after you shoot it, you'll want to do the PG conversion so you can use a g2 or redstar trigger... either one is soooo much better than that upward-pulling, god awful stock trigger. of course, that's just my opinion... I could be wrong.
  4. --> QUOTE(G O B @ Oct 26 2006, 06:42 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Everything in moderation, ESPECIALLY moderation itself. that's verbatim what my dad has told me for years and years.
  5. nice. how well does the cheek rest line up with that low mount?
  6. that's funny, i smoke non-filters, drink about 12oz of espresso and 2 "monster" energy drinks every day, and i can barely stay awake. and yes, im sure i'll die.... probably of cancer, maybe of heart failure. shit happens. goddamn preachy ex-smokers. make me want to be like dennis leary in that song "asshole" with the cigar on the subway. sorry for being an overly caffeinated and nicotined prick, but im sure y'all will survive. oh, and here's that song... ASSHOLE
  7. if you want a TRUE ak-104 clone, then hold out for dimples. if close enough is close enough, then dimples dont matter. it comes down to what you really want, an exact clone for a collection, or a shooter.
  8. I'll try to learn, but im a bit stupid. ég vilja reyna til læra , en ég er heimskur i ran that through a translator, but i have no idea how to pronounce it or if it's correct at all.
  9. the '74 also has the narrow neck on the bolt, hence a smaller hole in the carrier for it.. the sear trip "bump" has no effect on function in a semi. (everyone leaves them in on their homebuilts)
  10. isn't the saiga based off a '74, instead of a '47 ?
  11. i think it looks damn good... cleaning rod, schmeaning rod. the only prob i see is one i see on almost all the .308 handguard conversions... the upper and lower hg's seem a tad too far apart... other than that, its fargin' perfect! (i know, i must seem like a dick to nitpick about the gap, especially since my conversion is FAR less well done than that, but hey, its a pet peeve.)
  12. ThousandSon, nothing would have saved those girls, and Amish teacher would NEVER shoot that guy. EVER. in fact, that particular Amish commuinity took up a collection for the family of the shooter... but i do hear what you're saying about needing someone armed at school, to keep the nuts from thinning out the sane kids. and regarding our responsibilities as citizens, right on, Bvamp!
  13. I think there is something about the new ones. Mine is a 2006 with dimples. There is a noticable gap between the safety and the FCG. From what I have been reading, it looks to be the same problem as the .308s have been having. Also, the only modification I had to make to a Promag to get it to fit is file down the Magazine Catch. The rest fits perfectly, no modifications to the top of the mag at all. Be advised, you still need the feed ramp. Yet another difference in my 2006 is NO PG NUT HOLE. It was easy to do, once I got over my anxiety about cutting into the receiver. Anyone with
  14. jesus, machineguneddie, you scare the crap out of me. remind me not to be a prowler near your place.
  15. anyone have the original fsb left over from a .308 conversion?
  16. hmmm... maybe i should see what my new-to-me 91/30 will do. i havent even shot it yet. i've either been too busy or the weather has been shitty... i might have to test 'er out at the 200 yd range near me this weekend. If it looks promising, i might have to come and steal some turkeys from you.
  17. +1,000,000 I fondled one at a gun show last month, and all i wanted to do was tear all that plastic off and see what was going on with the receiver.... so somebody please buy one, strip it down, and take some pics!
  18. hmm... must be scared the sin will rub off. so weak in your convictions that you cant even share a chatboard with someone that doesn't live your kind of life? 'fraid your convictions will crumble? I'm not... we all come here to talk saigas, and nobody has pushed their trip. If i need to go to hell for occupying the same e-space as a "sinner", then so be it.
  19. you ought to put together an upstate ny saiga-12.com shoot, indy... even though i see the website says no guests at the rifle range. (probably to keep those ak-47 hippies like me away.) but, i finally got some ammo from SG, so i think itd be a good thing to do... or.... go crazy and post in the NY hometown section at arfcom and see if you could set up a nice big shoot. what are falcon's rules for rapid fire?
  20. is that mag plum? or is the light just shining off it strangely?
  21. Rochester has its own weapons ban, which is more restrictive than most of the state. (except NYC, of course) I dont know if the city would allow it or not, but if you're outside the Rochester city limits, you're good to go for sure.
  22. actually, as i read it, 10 rd detachable mags are fine. it's the tube mag extensions (fixed) that they're targetting. the detachable mag counts as one feature, and the "fixed magazine capacity in excess of 5 rounds" is another distinct feature. so, since NYS does not consider a thumbhole as a pistol grip... (yes i know the atf does for import purposes, but this state doesn't) we can have a saiga shotgun with a thumbhole stock, and a 10 rd mag. as an added bonus, bayonets are fine on shotguns (not on rifles), so we can have a thumbhole saiga with 10 rd detach mag and a bayo, and st
