Anyone else have experience putting this together?

Hi guys, My wife is going to be getting me my conversion goodies for Christmas and its up to me how I want to finish it. Well, Im not much for anything plastic, or tactical. I really want to use the wooden furniture set from Ironwood to finish my conversion. Some things I'm not sure of is what I will need to do to mount the hand guard. I haven't seen or heard of the exact method of doing this. Is it simple, or really involved? I have read about changing gas tubes, and adding retainers. I'm fairly new to the s12's but they seem pretty straight forward. Can someone who has experience wit

Anyways, Im looking to buy wood furniture from Ironwood and have been wondering if the pistol grip will work with DIY trigger guards? I have also been wondering what if any other modifications I would have to do to make this set work on my S12. I really love the look of the wood stock set. Also, they offer a variety of woods to choose from, what is the most popular and or what wood is factory on most WASR or AK's? I would like to make it look legit as possible. How does the Ironwood pistol grip attach? Will it work with DIY trigger guards?

Mine is an undersized 3 port gun. You need to shoot these things before you start butchering them. Hopefully it solves your issue, but it only took me 2 range trips to get my 3 port to run flawless on walmart federal. IMO drilling would be the absolute last thing I would do. Just sayin.

Let me just start off by saying thanks for everyones input and help. I was having issues with the cycling of Winchester bulk pack from walmart. I was at the point where I was considering sending my gun in. I looked at the ports and it seemed that they are undersized. I decided to at least try shooting it more before I made my decision. So I went out and decided to try different ammo as some have suggested. I bought bulk pack federal and headed up to the range. The only thing I did differently this time was change lube. My AK runs great using hoppes gun grease rather than just CLP. I wanted to

I haven't taken the gas block off yet and I have shot 2 boxes of high brass. The issues I've had are with win universal fte and stovepiping. Usually the last round of every mag will stove. The other 4 rounds are usually fine. Sometime I have a fte.

So I pulled mine apart tonight and found 3 ports. I tried using a .80 trimmer line and it wouldn't pass through. It shoots buck on 1 fine. However is hiccups sometimes on setting 2 with cheap stuff. Should I quit wasting time and money and just send it in or continue to break it in?

Just to throw this out there. I opened her up tonight to check port sizing. I have 3 ports, and a piece of .80 trimmer line wont fit through. It might if I force it, but that would be cheating. Should I just quit wasting my time and send it back or should I put a lot more ammo through it?

Are there any 3 port guns out there that work without modification?

how are you guys cleaning with a rod? is there enough room to pass a rod through the action end?
