  1. Ok, just finished my .308 conversion. I thought I was done before but found my FSB was canted. I went ahead and fixed the cant and threaded and installed a Phantom flash hider. Now time to sight again. Question is what is the best way to sight in iron sights? I have read several different opinions. 1. Start at 25 yards with rear sight at 100 and hit exactly at poa 2. Start at 25 yards with rear sight at 200 and hit poa And have read other ways also..... What's the best way? I do have a laser boresighter. I was going to set rear sight at 200 and hit poa at 25 yards. I just d
  2. Any answer on this? Got mine today and looks like the same issue. Haven't emailed Brian yet but was wondering if hider was supposed to screw all the way to the muzzle. I can already tell it won't. Same as above
  3. Press didn't work. If you try you need to make sure you have proper backing plate. I didn't so it wouldn't work. But got it home and just wacked it with hammer and big punch at back base. Came right off! Sending off to Dinzag.

  5. Yea, have got all my stuff from Dinzag. He rocks! Took the pins out last night. Came out pretty easily. Mine must be one of the older rifles. Anyway, let it soak in lube all night and tried a few sacks with a mallet and no luck. Brought it into shop to see if it can be pressed off. I'm thinking I'm sending to Brian at Dinzag once I get it off to do the mod and then pinning it back a notch so the barrel can be threaded later. It will still be fine to shoot I would think but may look a little odd for awhile until I get the $ to get it threaded.
  6. I feel pretty confident that I am capable of doing it but just want to understand what I'm getting into. The part I don't understand is won't the old "grooves" where the pins used to be interfere with the new grooves that I would be milling/drilling after getting the cant out? The sight will only need to be turned a couple degrees and then be redrilled. Won't those old grooves still be in the way and screw me up?
  7. Ok, I think it is canted to the left quite a bit. I can't believe I didnt see it before. That would make sense, correct? Damn, I wanted this rifle to be done! So I'm stuck with trying to drill and reset the FSB? Man, I just don't know about that. Sounds like a little to much to get into. The conversion was easy but nothing could really be screwed up. Drilling the end of the barrel? Sounds bad to me.
  8. Thanks again for all the replies. I'll check again for cant and let you know results. Just a little frustrating! I love the gun!
  9. The sight doesn't look canted as far as I can tell. Thinking about dumping the krebs and going with an adjustable rear sight. Any thoughts on those products? Just spent $65 on the krebs though
  10. Thanks for the replies. I bought the gun new and had same problem with factory original rear sight. Just looked and nothing seems to be out of wack. FSB looks straight and rear peep looks straight as far as I can tell. Really got me stumped.
  11. Sighting at 100 yards. When you say canted do you mean the whole front sight block? Ill have to look closer to see if it is crooked. On my last shots I did exactly what you said and put my poa about 6" further to left and finally hit a nice group. I guess if that's what I have to do I can do that but didn't really want to put my poa that far off. Any way to fix a canted sight block?
  12. Love my new .308 conversion. If you're a newbie and afraid to convert DO IT! It's easy! Anyway, put the Krebs rear peep sight on and love it too but am at a loss on how to adjust my windage to the left. I'm getting nice 3" groups but all 8" too far to the right of the poa. I have the front sight post "barrel" pushed all the way to the right as I'm looking down gun. The front sight post is way off center to the right and won't go any farther. There's nothing else I can do to adjust any further. Any tips or advice?
  13. Just completed my conversion of my .308 and everything seems to be fine. The hardest part for me was trying to get my bolt and carrier back on the gun! My question is whether or not the bolt can be put in incorrectly. This is my first ak platform gun and when I took the bolt/carrier out I tried to keep it in the same position but upon trying to reinstall I was forced to take it out completely and now am not sure if I put it back in correctly. I have not fired the gun yet but everything seems to cycle correctly. There was a "flat" spot on the bolt that the pin seemed to butt up against and
