  1. Add another .308 recommendation. And further, I'd recommend a low-rise Belarus mount with something like this: clamped onto it. That's a Truglo 2X, 2.5 MOA dot scope - $67 from Sportsman's Guide right now. Has the "rings" built into the scope body (which is 37mm) which right handy.
  2. Oops, obviously I didn't see the floorplate comment. Yes, I know that it is all total BS but better safe than sorry when its so easy to do. The rifle sitll looks outstanding to me.
  3. For more money on a low-rise Belarus mount, I would go with a Burris 4x Short Mag fixed scope $177 from Midway usa. Has a small front bell and is very compact - perfect for the s308. I've got one on order with some medium rings - need .25" rise or so if you want to have the bell over the rail, otherwise low low rings are the thing. Here's another option if you'd like a low power red dot - is 2x with 2.5 moa dot (nice and small): Is on sale for $67 - and as you can see has the mount incorporated into the scope itself. Purports to be shock resistant "up to a 50 cal muzzle loader
  4. Now we want a specal logo... Cmon guys - focus on another buying special for those that believed
  5. And it'll look really good on my fulllength Great job guys, looks great.
  6. Hmmm, a notable abscense of naysayers on this thread :D Can't wait for mine to get here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those look better than I had hoped for. Gonna look so good on my carbine. I can't wait to parade the pictures on the other web sights to make em all jealous
  7. beautiful! I hate to point this out but you actually still have 11 imported parts... You made the most common mistake out there - counting the us parts (which doesn't really matter) - it's the imported parts that count and you have: barrel, receiver, trunion, bolt carrier, bolt, buttstock, pistol grip, handguards, mag body, follower, floorplate. Count em - 11. Just use the new FNMG 20 rounders with it and you'll have it whipped. Uncle Batfuck and his merry gang of jackbooted thugs won't know unless you give them some reason to come look at your stuff, but...
  8. short answer: NO - but you can get some measure of improvement by simply stoning or polishing the contact points on the trigger and hammer.
  9. I'd like to use it on my .223 until I get my .308. What are the differences in this scope as compared to the PO 3-9 x 40 that freedomoptics sells for $69?? Obviously the PO is adjustable and the POSP has the AK style mount allready attached. Those differences aside what are the other differences? Is one of these more durable than the other? It seems the PO with the adjustable magnification would be better for long range shots, true? I'd have to go look at the features on the PO scope, but the PSOP has an illuminated reticle for one. It also has a range fining reticle an
  10. This is for a S308 right? So since you have a side rail, get a PSOP 4x - http://www.freedomoptics.com/comersus/stor...p?idProduct=105
  11. Yes, that is a good point - insurance if you will. And man, you used the right stuff to make em! I can't wait till they get here.
  12. what he said! Of course, you have to have a place to keep it too... I think we are "safe" for a few more years - 2008 is the worry.
  13. Good news! And yes, thanks for keeping us in the loop! I am watching and learning too - I will not be offering my product (now under development) until I have inventory in-hand. I understand that pre-sales gain you needed capital, but I'm hoping to avoid the need for that. It just causes a lot of angst. People are so "instant gratification" these days. Better to announce and immediately ship if you can IMHO. Perhaps stating the obvious.
  14. Check the PSO-V, a "black/red" dot scope - Russian. http://www.freedomoptics.com for one source. These have a black dot (very small) surounded by a big circle when off. When on, the dot becomes red. If the batteries fail, you still have an aiming point. Very rugged and has its own mount if you prefer that model. $200
  15. Don't worry! Prepare! What better exuse to get another rifle or some more mags or ammo and hey, you'll be needing mag pouches and web gear and and and
  16. Wow. Good thing we don't all have to have our screen name reflect our looks - mine would be oldfatdad or something. studmuff? lool Enjoy it while it lasts son! Anyway - as to the x39 vs x51, I would say that if this is your first AK type rifle purchase, I would suggest the 7.62x39 variety. If its not, then go for the .308. For a lot of reasons.
  17. Looks great IMHO. That wrist looks very comfortable to grasp - a definate improvement over the stock buttstock. Nice job!
  18. Well, it looks good and you saved a Saiga in distress! You get a S308 lifesaving merrit badge for that one
  19. The 308 Saiga is dimensionally a standard AKM, so the socom stock will behave the same on it as any other standard AKM. They are very cool. I have a Romanian build that I put together on an Armory USA receiver and I installed a Romanian side folder on it and I really like it. Kinda depends on what you're after.
  20. Short answer - yes, it could depending on your rifle's parts count. Long answer: To use the high-capacity mags, you must adhere to the 922r ruling which states basically that you can't have any more than 10 countable imported parts on a rifle that meets certain qualifications, which the saiga 308 with a high cap mag does. I could list out all of the parts and such, but this has been done many times alread in this forum - just do a search and you should get the specifics.
  21. First off, don't spend more than $12 per mag IMHO. All that you need to do to your Saiga for it to accept standard mags is trim a little off of the mag catch lever and install a bullet guide on the front trunion. I would not spend $50 on those mags. If you're not comfortable doing the slight mods, then have it done for you by a gunsmith. Now, as to compliance, your rifle currently has the following imported parts: barrel handguard trunions receiver buttstock trigger disconnector hammer bolt bolt carrier gas piston magazine body magazine follower magazine floorplate
  22. Well for cryin out loud - cancel my order! Not! Just kidding Thanks for the update!
  23. O.S.O.K.

    mags

Should be soon - stay tuned here to get the word - believe me, there will be multiple postings once the pre-orders ship.
  24. What kind of mount/scope are you using? That's unusual. I would look at another mount. That definately sounds like the mount is bent or designed poorly.
  25. In short: one of the DSA models and second answer - one of Century's. I bought a Century FAL some time ago (like 5 years ago - my how time flys) and I am very happy with it - I did do a lot of mods- stock, mb, bipod, etc. - but I like it.
