  1. Well, be a novelty weapon, especially when price 3 times a 7.62x39 pistol, ammo runs approx. same per 1,000 rds, carbine version falls in plinker class, unless just want a non recoil pistol caliber carbine, yet too many others offer pistol cartridge carbines for far less. Glad it came to market, yet price, lost me.
  2. Cocky or clueless. Bullet proof belief, ignorant of fire power available, that gets yourself or others dead. Term carried over from Corps days. Stand up blasting away or other actions that get yourself dead, getting yourself and others injured from stupid "I'm God, nothing can touch me" mentality. Example used with Saiga. World of hurt can come at you real quick and in any situation. Be aware. "John Wayne" or the movie hero doesn't die or run out of bullets. Guess more modern term would be "Rambo".
  3. My 590 is loaded go to shotgun, just carried 500 series Mossy's too long. Would I hesitate to go to Saiga? No. Saiga, don't plan on selling the 2 I got. Nothing like running a 20rd drum of 00 into old cars or solid wooden doors, to shake the "John Wayne" mentality of rookies. Plus, when one comes out at range, everyone wants to shoot, plus favorite at family/friends shoots.
  4. XDs 1st generation is daily CCW. Went with Sig 220 Equinox as duty weapon. (We buy our own). Replaced a Ruger P90, Dept. issue from awhile back. Bought it, lot of rounds, never an issue. 1911's of many makes and models. So full size is Sig, CCW XDs. Got little hands, so single stacks just fit better.
  5. A range friend, locally raised, Seal, medical/wound retired 2 years ago, Daily carries Sig 220, said it was what he carried for a side arm for 7 years. Mentioned went from 9mm to 45acp about 8 years ago, do to having to go to side arm often in tight situations, enemy is too often hyped up on junk. Use ball ammo, so bigger holes, less rounds to take down.
  6. Not a good person to ask or judge 9mm. Got a SR9, SR9c, just got a Sig 229, and had a Glock 19, Daughter carries 19, and uses for her protection handgun. Mine are for plinking or training new shooters. All I've got have no issues. Not a carry pistol for me.
  7. Only 40 I got is a S&W 610, shoot some 40. ounce in awhile. Same as shooting 38's in a 357. Cheaper and easier to practice with.
  8. Like Midway a lot, just placed an order there today, good price, yet couple places $114 delivered.
  9. Last couple year's Overseas work bonus. No longer leaving USA, except to vacation . Having a couple weapons refinished in camo patterns. Add to Ammo and mag. supply: 3,000rds 7.62x39, 2,000rds 45acp, 2,000rds 9mm, 500rds 357, 1,000rds 10mm, 1,000rds 308. Firearms: AK pistols Century Micro, M92, and IO's M214 + acc. for each. Mags: 2 dozen AK, Numerous pistol, M1a, FnFal, and Saiga 308 mags. Ammo storage lockers, additional gun vault. Restocked gun room with supplies, fireproofed and added auto fire snuff out system . Waiting on release of a couple of firearms. Donated and installed target/rang
  10. Haven't paid much attention to the newer import 9's. Interesting reading of different models, thoughts. Got me checking reviews. Most priced at the low end US makers. Stopped in to check on a refinish on a rifle yesterday, spent time to look at the pistols on display, noticed and handled CZ's and the K100 and some others. Owner said they have been moving well, and no complaints. Economy still sucks in our region, these pistols price 1/4 to 1/3 less than regular/known brands. If, in market, would give a try. Traded 1 of those police trade in Sig 229s I picked up for $400 (looked new) for refini
  11. In last year or so, acquired the Ruger's SR series for this purpose. SR22, SR9 and SR9c, along with SR45. Have short and standard length 10/22's, then AK's, add a couple 308's, Youth Mossberg 20, then regular 12's. Family always has shooting outings, help with instruction of new shooters (adult/youth) at club/range. Couple female only group/individual instructors regularly borrow from myself and others to give a variety.
  12. Everyone has their own hand fit/size/brand preference. Size wise, single stack XDs 3.3, XDm 3.8, Glock 29/30. Regular mags, not extended.Width/bulk is about same in XDm and Glock. XDs is single stack, so width is really noticed, XD's s or m in 3.8 and glock 29/30 length same, XDs in 3.3 about inch shorter. Grip length same in all. XD's use the duel recoil spring, (as most sub compacts do now). Added this to my second gen Glock 29 years ago. Firing 2 identical pistols side beside, quickly realize difference in recoil and 2nd shot response. Only reason for not picking up XDm 3.8. Was no gain fro
  13. Oh, do have a set of old style III with metal inserts and a stab resistant cover hanging in gun room. Looks like the Michelin man style. Helmet and III face shield. Use it when testing hybrid reloads.
  14. Just issued new class III last month, still required a stab resistant inserts, that doubles as a trauma pad. Latest generation III(44mag) is thinner close to lighter class II (9mm/40). Have Class IV(.30cal armor piercing), yet is plates in a carrier. Never used unless long gun threat or raiding a meth lab/etc. Put over class III, since already on. Know IV is stab resistant, yet not even practical in your situation. There are shirt type carriers for all soft body armor levels,(VIP Protection) Had duty that they get issued such.(about sweat shirt thickness) Don't know source/supplier. Get 1 of t
  15. Our gun club Fri. bought 50 1,000rd cases of tiger in a group buy, free shipping/major discount. So, scare, maybe, yet large suppliers are making deals on quantity.
  16. Well, XDs in 45 has become my casual CC weapon over the last year. Wear cargo pants or shorts. Got a sticky type slide in holster. Goes in leg cargo pocket. Never would know it's there, and always easy access, even while driving. When on duty, it's still there as a backup. Have small hands, just fits/natural.
  17. Not knocken, 40rdrs good at range, function well, picked a few romy metal 40's few years pack for $10. gotten to point usually keep a romey 20rd in weapon. Pay extra for Russian if want, yet couple places have Bulgarian synthetic, metal lined/enforced for $15 if want 40's. Have a half dozen of these. Never an issue. Usually load up 40's for family/friend shoots.
  18. 7.62, 9mm and 45 acp Prvi. Never an issue. Done business with them since the Ms took payment info over the phone with kid(s) wanting her attention., no website then.
  19. Didn't need or really want, yet after seeing them. Oh heck yes. 2 Sig P229 9mm, Police trades. Looked as new, in factory cases and all acc. and 3 factory 13rd mags per pistol for $400 each, cash and carry. Had been spare locker queens. Only been shot by a couple officers to qualify with. This large AZ Dept. got .40's. Added Hogue grips to both.
  20. Stryker, had pop come up my nose, after seeing price/pics of nothing but a bolt/screw on cool tactical stuff. you are EVIL for posting this. lol. IS good at taking pics though.
  21. From the wood stocked, get quality close to what the original Robinson imports. Seen some really ruff/lack of quality control on some models. Vodka must have been rationed for awhile..
  22. Well, thinking of buying an AK pistol. Novelty to shoot much ammo. Then later rework into a SBR after paperwork.
  23. Understand why some do, got a neighbor who gets a slug. No self control to budget/save/invest. Let's the gov take the max. No refund ever for me, even when had kids of dependent age, always figured withholdings to pay in $200 or so Fed. and around $100 or less to state. Earn my pay, so letting those who don't, hold it, has never occurred to me. After I pay my little amount from a small tax fund savings account, will replenish it for next year and go on.
  24. Dad, Just a reservist and help with training now a days. It's such a double edge sword. Those who patrol and deal with scum, then there are so many instances of "Bastards with Badges". See how the general public gets confused. Good officers in bad situations are not supported strongly enough, while crimes against public are supported/protected and even authorized. The latter is mainly due to control and revenue.
