  1. Appreciate it guys. Had plans, yet duty called. Half full time deputies out with flu. Became a softie in elder age, best part was calls from a 2.5 and 4 year old grandkids and their homemade pics/drawings that I put up around my desk. On patrol, got call to help with rowdy inmate at jail. Dispatcher and sheriff set me up. Was nice, cupcake and a steak. Should file a complaint for unauthorized snooping into my personal records. lol
  2. Came in yesterday. 100 good to excellent surplus metal Ak mags. 94 look as never used, other 6 have insertion and fallower marks. $6.08 each. Except for 20 for myself, family/friends took the rest.
  3. Well, fuel temp. (hot)is an issue with many motors. Usually unexpected due to modern injection and amount of return/bypass. 1st electronic injection diesel heavy truck motors, especially Detroit Diesels, others that fallowed learned from their issues, also major issue is the EPA constant changes of regs on fuel, causes issues not in original design, older fuel grades that were used prior to new formulas/additives/grades. Different scale yet same type issue on older diesels or gas motors. Performance or actual components fail, especially on Bio-fuel the gov. has mandated on military hardware.
  4. Prepaid cheap flip phone, Cold Steel Ak-47 knife (became my favorite), Glock 29/spare mag(body carry), or Springfield XDs 45/spare mag(cargo pants/shorts leg pocket), keychain pepper spay/window break tool, handcuffs. Bic lighter, wallet, pen. If trekking/conditioning carry a sling bag, (2 miles, one way to gym) add a flashlight/stun, additional spare mag, foam style full size pepper spray, basic first aide kit, glow in dark clothing/hat, clip on flashing lights. Reason, live around public housing area. Workout wee hours of morning.
  5. Identical cases, for short term use or travel. Nice label idea. Go on a group shoot, or training course carry many weapons for teaching purpose. Just got luggage tags, yet have habit of putting same weapon in same cace. If use this style case, be good. Odd assortment of cases obtained through the years.
  6. Well, could see the seating of rod could cause an issue 3 or 4 years ago. Was a bit of wobble, so boxed carrier up and had Cobra reseat a Cole rod. Solid, flush, no issue since. As Nailbomb stated, had pieces rebreak on equipment, that's used in rigorous conditions. Never at a weld point. Good weld is stronger than original cast, due to metal imperfections in initial casting pour at forge.
  7. Like many, thought, "WTH" and bit pissed when 1st read. Getting older, bit wiser?? Certain sources know which buttons to push. Especially since our rights are constantly under attack by the elite. Yet, most of time try to get to bottom of story, especially if the source could be agenda driven. Ex: 25 years ago realized had been indoctrinated and played by Gov to be a goon in the drug war "Confiscation" of property. Realized most property being seized had nothing to do with drugs, just everyday people who unknowingly did business or was related to a drug dealer. It was and still is about gettin
  8. Sadly I remember the pictures of all those lined up to register their black weapons in certain states, even though purchase records showed it was a vast minority. Sadly, most of those will be 1st persons who'll turn others in to save themselves.
  9. Yes Darth, after quick response. I got the idea Mr. Fifer believed it would be taken as usual propaganda, considering the source. Was quick, and more than detailed about reactions with this and other groups. A "Hello, how are you, may I help you." from the reception desk or security would be considered a "Warm Reception", besides being professional business practice.
  10. Don't think a New York CBS news affiliate would twist and maybe play you a bit?? That an anti gun biased source looking for traction. Yes, what Bill Ruger did sucked, along with Colt's temporary (no civilian sales) and a few others in the last 25 years. Like or dislike Ruger for their firearms, or their past sins, just don't be played and used.
  11. Well gentlemen, Emailed CEO at Ruger this afternoon, Mike Fifer. Must have caught his attention. Received a reply about 20 mins ago. Said group asking for their cooperation showed up at corporate headquarters, "Warm Reception" was how all persons are received by reception desk and security staff.. Letter asking for and announcing this groups proposal was accepted. a CBS TV film crew had tagged along, figuring there might be a confrontation since a previous request had become confrontational when officers of the company refused to meet with them, and persons had to be escorted off property, ALL
  12. Gunblast seems to have done a vid on most entry level/GI style 1911's.
  13. You tube video search. Do make a 7.62x51 model, called Ace 52. Can only hope.
  14. I saw what you were doing, this has come up before in local talks with persons. Keep certain items to barter, 9mm or 223, since most seem to go that direction. Lot of people have, yet don't stock much. Couple boxes. I know guy that filled every propane bottle he could find for same reason. Back before these latest price increases. Stores forever and doesn't go bad. We trade beef and lamb for pork at our local meat locker. Pound for pound, not current price of each. Traded a neighbor a box of .38 fmj for a box of 308 hunting rounds during last scare because his wife wanted to practice and not
  15. Not going to be dumbed down, sorry. History studies snuck out. Never mean to over speak, I was blessed with elders that pushed self education and to obtain as much knowledge as possible. Some had come from countries that had burned books and imprisoned those of free thought. Still read as much as possible from various sources and ideologies. Only responded because of a silly, uppity reaction without the knowledge. okay.
  16. Great to see the skills. Regret health/old injuries from participating anymore in theses kind of events. Loved the Hogan Alley or other types of courses for different weapons. Always participated in "Issue" weapons events. Is good to see highly modified events, actually have brought many innovations and durability to many everyday weapons.
  17. Got 10x8x2ft wall locker of odd ball, and a few calibers left from selling gun store building. 1 or 2 boxes of various. Mainly loads for lever actions and other ancient or fallen out of favor calibers. Local sporting good store calls once in awhile with someone looking.
  18. Wont take offense to ignorance. Hard Currency is a barter term from centuries past. Means real goods for trade. Some don't study history, I apologize, for not realizing the uninformed. Ex: Goat, donkey, sword, even salt and pepper in certain regions. "Hard" meaning you can touch or hold. Each item is valued by individuals as to their needs. Modern term does mean gold, silver, precious stones. Traders/middlemen/gov in time switched to modern "Hard Currency". Butchering a goat to pay little items can be messy. Box of ammo, not so much.
  19. yes, a repost, yet still like this weapon, if not extremely priced. will get really happy if a 308 fallows. Can wish. Sold Sig 556R awhile back for what I had in it, so might try one.
  20. I buy in bulk, are outfits with 22. I wont pay the prices, got plenty, yet have many who have me order for them. I just charge actual costs, and add to larger order. Cheaper shipping average per case box. Most 22's sit in stores close to or below costs due to high or no ammo.
  21. Know many, if not most gun owners have only a box or 2 of ammo for their defense weapon. Seen many at range during last scare saying as much. Only practice with ammo they could locate at high prices, or not at all, since didn't want to shoot what little they had. CCW and realization of basic gov. economic situation. This very subject came up at range today. Buy all you can afford, and don't be scrambling again. Silly how .22 still flies off shelves and is scarce/high priced. How many people with 22 plinkers had only a box, "It'll always be there, to get"
  22. Since I stock large in large amounts what I shoot. Except for a couple calibers, all is "popular" rounds. Anyone with a clue, realizes hard currency is what will be traded if/when monetary supply or disaster situation occurs. What's the use of thousands of rounds if you need something else, unless you have decided to turn your community in a "Mad Max" world.
  23. Too bad the Charles Daily's aren't around anymore, great castings. Cheap price, quality/no thrills build. Gave mine to nephew. So, price does not always equal quality. Ruger, Rock River, and numerous others offer basic or package modification deals. Reputable builders and a good dealer take care of any flaws. Good ammo and quality mags. Sounds like you might be a bit "New" to handguns. Be wary of dealer who "Knows" what you need. Whatever you get, just practice, and practice some more. Oh, I do have the 57, one of the shooters I mentioned before, yet no one local carries ammo, no demand, so a
  24. Many companies came out with the basic combat/military issue 1911, Add options, raise costs. Neighbor and a couple others I know have the basic GI type Remington 1911, no issues have every been brought up. Have 45's and 10mm's by many manufacturers and types. Buy what weapon you want. Are haters of every weapon, never had a duty or carry issue with 1911, Glock, S&W, or Sig. Good ammo, quality mags, all function as should. Not being a panic run situation, don't pick a weapon were ammo is not easily available at local sellers, is for weapon manufactured state side in any quantity? Got off br
