  1. Two out of three of the new mags worked fine. The third one still fell out, and I could knock it out with my palm. My mods on the 12 rounder didn't work either. So, At this point I don't know what to think.
  2. I posted earlier about the issues I was having with my SGM 12 round mags staying in my Vepr. I have been filing one and it seems better, but I won't know until I get out again in a couple of days. Anyway, I just received 3 new production SGM 10 round mags from MAA. They must have changed something, because these now lock in tight right out of the box. You can tell when releasing them that they are in further. And, unlike the 12 rounders, I can't knock them out with my palm. It looks really promising, but I'll know for sure in a couple of days.
  3. I posted a month or so about my mags not staying in. I have worked them in and out, over and over in hopes of being able to "Broke" them in. I had a chance to go back out today, and the only way I can keep the mags in (three 12 rounders), is to jam something between the mag release lever and the mag well. And I also have the FTF issue on two of them. And, again, the Factory mags work perfect. Something just isn't right with the SGM mags. I also agree that what's the point of returning them if they truly are from the same mold? I'd rather have a fix I can do myself.
  4. Hey Chevyman, I get it. No need to shout. And I think you want to say the mag needs breaking in, cause I sure don't want to 'Broke' it.
  5. I have been doing this, but as I noted in the other thread, a good smack with my palm on the backside of the mag and it still knocks it loose. I see wear on the locking tab now too, some I'm afraid It's going to get worse.
  6. Ok, one final observation. It seems like the shelf on the mag that the lever locks onto is chipping/ wearing a bit as Brando notes above. Is it possible that the molded tab on the back edge of the mag is causing the interference? It seems to my eye that it is raised a hair more than the Russian mags, but I don't have a micrometer handy to measure to be sure.
  7. SGM, ok now this is interesting. What do you mean by breaking in? I haven't shot the other two yet, but I did notice this. With the Russiam mags, When they are locked in, I can hit them with my palm forward towards the barrel, and they stay locked in. With all three SGM when I do this they release. Is this normal? If not, what am I doing wrong?
  8. My other two SGM's came Saturday, so I'm going to try and get back out this week. And I'll try Captains method and let you guys know how it goes. I really don't want to return three mags.......
  9. Ok, I'll contact them. I have two more coming from CSS. It will be interesting to see if they have the same issue or not.
  10. I was able to take my VEPR out for the first time. I had a Russian 5 round, 8 round and a 12 round SGM that I just received from the Atlantic pre-order. The VEPR ran great, but every time I shot a round from the SGM it would fall out. I tried at least 5 or 6 times, made sure I saw the mag locking lever move and lock into place, but no luck. When comparing to the Russian mag, it doesn't seem to lock as easily and there isn't that little bit of play I have with them. I'm assuming I'mgoing to need to do a little filing on the SGM, as the lugs seem a little taller. Has any one else experienced thi
  11. Had the same problem with the CSS plate as well. I spent a few hours and coudn't get it right. It was driving me crazy because I had previously used one on an AK conversion and it snapped right in. Finally gave up and installed the Tromix Shepards Crook I got with the FCG. It only took 15 minutes or so to install. It's actually pretty easy when you figure out how to do it.
  12. Wow, finally got it. I pushed the back pin in a bit and that gave me enough room to lift the spring plunger out with a screwdriver. It looks like the right arm of the hammer spring slipped off the hammer, which is what was preventing the BHO from moving down into the slot. After this experience, I think I might forget the notching and throw the POS BHO in the trash!
  13. Ok, I was able to pound the front axis pin out. I can push back the bolt and it seems like I'm pushing the BHO down far enough, but when the bolt goes forward, the BHO comes back up. Since the BHO isn't held in place by the axis pin, shoudn't it slide forward?
