  1. Get a proper 74 brake really keeps it down, the k-var replica works well, if you can swing the compliance count pick up a zig zag brake and mill it out, Makes the 7.62x39 smooth as silk, really not needed on the 5.45 but it still works. I just bought a rwc half converted 5.45, my first upgrade is bulgarian fsb and bulgarian zig zag brake, furniture to follow this spring.
  2. One of the RWC group half converted saiga, box and everything with two circle 21 mags, 650 OTD
  3. this happens around here to, basic saiga 7.62x39 for 800 dollars, when I just bought one of the half converted 5.45 rwc builds with two mags, for 650. The best is still wasr 10 with a few mags and ammo for a grand, sad part is there are still some stupid enough to pay.
  4. I use tapcos quite a bit and I will say this, the quality in the polymer from 2 years ago to today is night and day difference, the newer mags seem to be more rigid and dimensioned properly, no filing. I have old tapcos that are bendable with just your fingers at the top of the mag you can really see the flex them. The older tapcos break very easy and that has been my experience compared to the new ones, I get steel as well but the weight on the tapcos is a big plus and they have never gone wrong yet. Tapco replaced a broken mag when I just blatalantly broke one, the mag worked fine but I
  5. The worst for me was the double jalapeno cheddar burger from wendy's, they dont sell them much anymore but damn they could clear a house.
  6. papa johns and orange juice, I can run a mile sharting my ass off.
  7. It is the unshrouded firing pin that is my bugaboo, the retainer get bent and chewed up as a result, the rifle has been shot some but not bad, use to belong to north carolina sbi. or pick up a spikes m16 bcg from aim for 140 shipped? best guess the gun is 10 years old, spent 6 years in service with qualification twice a year, maybe 1.5k to 4k rounds maybe less as the rifling is excellent and the feedramp looks great.
  8. I am going to get a carrier for now, I will more than likely get a m16 bcg but the semi is closest in weight to what I have in the half moon design, so better chance it will work without changing buffer. Once i am a bit farther along I may do the switch, but I know the stock bolt will be headspaced properly in a new carrier
  9. Monty I believe it is headspaced when barrel is put in.
  10. I am going to use the old bolt on a new stag carrier, this is my easiest way out and should eliminate any headspace issues.
  11. I appreciate the advice guys, I realize the bolt could be worth it to someone who has a sear blocked colt lower and needs a bcg that would work. I found some spikes m16 bcg for a good price so I may go with that as it is affordable but still well reviewed. I really dont want to screw with the buffer, I think it has a carbine buffer right now, will this be sufficient for the m16 bcg, I am not trying to lessen recoil, I just want it to cycle well even with stuff that may be loaded a little weak. Or would just a straight semi ar 15 carrier be a better choice and just use my original bo
  12. Haha will do stryker, I will pick up some spare bolt parts just in case. I know what you mean, been to the spearmint rhino in vegas, must be a hard ass pin.
  13. thanks for the replies guys, stryker I would prefer at least a ar 15 semi carrier so the back of the firing pin is shrouded and not reseting the hammer. I guess it could potentially fail if that retaining pin broke or bent on the bolt. I have the money to pick up a bcm, but is it really worth it like stryker said, It is a solid bolt I just hate the unshrouded firing pin on the half moon carrier.
  14. I have a LE trade in colt 6721 HBAR made in august of 2004 just before the ban sunset. The good is it has the smaller fcg pins and takedown pins as well as the larger handguard with duel heat shields. The bad is that it has the half moon carrier and unshrouded firing pin, the pin is fine and does not seem to be contacting the retainer, I understand that the M16 group can be swapped as long as it does not have the sear block, which mine does not, so... Can I buy a m16 bcg and just drop it in, the gun is used so I do wonder about headspace and wear and should I get a heavier buffer or wi
  15. My 6721 HBAR is around my 7.62x39 and above my 74 so I think ar's can be just as heavy with all the tacticool crap people throw on nowadays, apples to apples though the ak will always be heavier in 7.62 in 5.45 it is a toss up between ar and ak.
  16. psa armory has yugo bho mags for 11.99 right now, I am saving up for some new bulgarian steel mags and some new polish tantal mags. The new bulgarian commericals I have are not reinforced in the lugs but they are metal lined in the front spine and feed tower. Ak mags unlike Ar mags have to be very robust to take serious abuse/ combat abuse, the round is heavy and definitely creates more stress on critcal points. I would like to see a domestic manufacturer make a thick aluminum ak magazine like the russian aluminum magazines, that would be the shit.
  17. chuck norris fists are registered class 3 weapons with the batfe!!!
  18. Chuck norris once urinated in the gas tank of a semi...... it is now known as optimus prime! Only one person cried the day Chuck Norris was born, the doctor. Because nobody slaps chuck norris and gets away with it! Chuck Norris eats coal, and shits diamonds. A blind man once ran into chuck norris and got his sight back, unfortunately the first image was a roundhouse to the face.
  19. Mancat speaks the truth, you have to try it to believe for some folks myself included. make your own detent pin, really not hard.
  20. will do arik, it is the newer model with the smaller pins and m4 handguard, so I am stoked.
  21. working on photos, she looks pretty good, I dont think it spent too much time in the back of a patrol car if thats what you mean. It has been handled and shot some but very little for the number of years it was in service. The feed ramps and the rifling looked beautiful. It is a 1 in 9 but I am a cheap ass so its good that it will handle 55 and 62 just fine, but whats max bullet weight on this barrel 65 to 69 grains, I have heard folks using some 70 + but certain kinds with a specfic bullet profile. I could have bought a 6920 brand new, but the carry handle and the balance of the heavy bar
  22. Had a colt 6721 nc sbi turn in that looked to be in good shape for, 889 out the door. Its my early christmas present to myself. Did I do good;)
  23. The consensus seems to be that a little loose is ok but wobbly is not, I always file the back to fit and leave just enough so the brake has some breathing room and have never had issues. I never could get the crush washers to keep it indexed properly the brake would always come loose so I just drilled my sight tower and did a homemade detent pin, got the idea from cobra.
  24. 1. is the brake loose and not concentric to the bore. 2. The only way the bullet could be affected would be a strike, the bullet has left the barrel by the time the gas is coming out so it should not be off because of that. 3. Get the real 74 brake even if you just use an adapter to do it, they are 1010% worth it and I did not see the light until I put one on, now I cant live without it,jmho.
