With all due respect to Mike, i dont think he explained the law at all, just the questionable conversation he had with an eager to arrest ATF investigator. I dont see any reason any of the people asking this question over and over haven't already written to tech and asked this very question, getting the final (for now) word from the horses mouth, as Bonesteel did. This speculation seems pointless. Much of the logic applied in the inability to legally shorten a barrel would fundamentally outlaw home gunsmithing of all sorts, and regardless of what was said, I would think, regardless of what som

newbie needing advise

any AK rear trunion can be made to work. APEX or other sources should have some. Also, since no one mentioned it, cutting to below 18in (and welding an attachment), which you can do, with the stock length gas system, can lead to a loss of pressure and some tuning difficulty, i went with an 18in barrel +muzzle attachment, for this reason, its not much of a length difference, and i would rather have the flawless that it provided, without the extra worries. -

If you had to force the gas tube in it probably isn't in correctly and is hitting, take it off and try to ease it back into alignment

There are more good guns from century than there are bad ones. Their problem is quality control, not total ability. I would think the biggest weakness would be mag fit, sight cant and roller size. handle the rifle before you buy and be picky. I'm no longer an HK fan though and would recommend the saiga.

Good read, and I can personally attest to preparing to draw, even when you are not carrying (even if you feel like an idiot, later, for not having been). A simple movement of the clothes or hands, and alot of shady seeming people seem to immediately notice something more interesting than you, just to their right hand side.

Im not sure why the trigger would feel different with the safety on or off, but I wouldn't be worried about the trigger being able to move a small amount with the safety on. The AK style safety is so designed as to just block the trigger from travelling far enough to fire. There are very few AK's that are so tight that there is zero movement. As long as the gun cannot fore with the safety on, it is doing its job. You can always add material to the safety and file to fit to get a tighter fit, which many people do when a gun IS able to be fired with the safety on. As far as your trigger-sla

Not sure anyone reads this subforum, but a local shop was ripped off and I am hoping to spread this info, so if anyone has seen any of the following guns, likely to turn up in AZ, please contact me, the police, or even the ATF. This was a small local shop, and I'm sure a good 2nd amendment supporter is now hurting. For those in AZ who care about advancing our 2A rights.....

Question about bolt carrier hitting the trunion.

I would not use a buffer, or consider welding up the barrel and redrilling holes. If it really is a concern, (and it sounds like you fixed it with the brownells spring) an even stronger spring would solve it. -
How do I take apart the recoil spring to add recoil buffer on my S12?
Reverendfranz replied to hefedehefe's topic in Saiga-12
Wow, there is an Idea that doesnt suck. Very nice PapaZorro. I did come here just to tell the OP that he should avoid the buffer at all costs, but I like that AR tube idea. -

He is right, it doesn't give them that right. They gave it to themselves a long time ago. Lex Terrae. The significant parts are those hidden in the phrase "existing law," the parts about the constitution, well, thats just silly, remember that the Bush administration used constitutional law to justify all of its actions.
