  1. You might want to realign your perception of the enemy in Vietnam... My Dad told me a story of a VC running toward a structure of some sort (can't remember anymore) and they had to open up on him... He was hit multiple times and was able to make it into a 55 gallon steel trash drum (a tragic tactical error on his part) and returned fire for a minute or so until enough solider opened up on the drum the only thing left was slurry. Popular opinion was that he was on drugs of some sort... So... That's the one story, that I have second hand, of a VC taking a bunch of 5.56 rounds and still stayi
  2. In a different observation... Was it the SWAT team's day off before they got the call? Shorts and tennis shoes?
  3. If I ever get around to polishing mine up to a mirror finish (just because I like the look) I'll probably store the bolt carrier outside of the gun and smear it with a light grease for storage. I don't have serious concerns of it rusting but I could see the finish becoming dull as time goes on and I'm too lazy to want to polish it twice... at this point I'm too lazy to polish it the first time. Keeping it oiled up would probably do just fine. It's also worth mentioning that I don't use my S-12 for HD or anything so having it ready to run at all times isn't a concern.
  4. I doubt you're the only one.....Imagine the problem they're going to have keeping it clean! It's gonna smell TERRIBLE! Good luck getting through these guys and around those guys No problem... I'll just got on the 1st of the month around noon... It will be desolate.
  5. FWIW, since that's my professional field, I would skip AutoCad entirely and head straight for the 3D modeling software (I suppose you could use Inventor, but practically no one else does). About the most you'll ever need to do with AutoCad is a pull a dimension off of an outdated drawing. Dassault Systemes (creators of SolidWorks and Catia) authors a TOTALLY FREE TO ANYONE version of AutoCad called DraftSight... Go get that if you want to play with DWG files. If even looks just like AutoCad... http://www.3ds.com/products-services/draftsight/download-draftsight/ -------- If you
  6. LOL! Good point! I just hope people can keep it civil by throwing turds at it, leaving Obamacare bills, or dumping spent steel shell casings (he's not worth brass) and not just load it up with racist graffiti.
  7. This is actually a good thing since I've always imagined it would be difficult to piss on his grave... A monument? That's attainable.
  8. Honestly, when something big is going down I usually come here for news! There are some guys on here that seem to read every source of every news every moment. I let them do the walking for me.
  9. The more I learn about the current state of the public school system the more I'm thinking about private schools if I ever have kids... Maybe they're not any better but they almost can't be worse.
  10. The part of the carrier you see shouldn't really be rubbing on anything. It should hold up fairly well if you prep it correctly. All of the other things that end up plated are all hidden when the gun is static anyhow and are essentially money wasted even if you just want the look. Are you really going to run with the cover off just to admire the plating? I've never tried it, but you could also anodize it instead and pick whatever color you can imagine. http://www.ehow.com/how_7155639_anodize-steel.html
  11. Given how little it tends to rust and how nicely it takes a polish I'd say its some sort of high nickle "tool steel". As most TiN coated cutters are just HSS under the coating I would suspect that it would be just fine. I would think just about any steel would take it but durability would be compromised in certain cases. Since it there is absolutely no reason to have a coating like TiN added other than esthetics, I don't think it matters much.
  12. It seems like unless they outlaw plate steel and kevlar you're going to be able to "get" as much armor as you want... Another totally stupid piece of legislation.
  13. Dozens... Amazon is a wonderful thing. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=dash%20camera
  14. I would have been making a trip down to the school to have a discussion with the morons that decided to start lying to children to sell their fear agenda... What did mom and dad think of it?
  15. Before you commit to selling things off you might rather keep, I've heard really good things about Fastenal's shipping service. They will move large and heavy pallets of stuff for dirt cheap. Guys are moving 800lb tractors across the country for like $250. Not sure if they would move ammo or not, but tools and engines would certainly be no problem. Apparently you just have to drop your stuff off at the store, put it on a pallet they provide, and pick it up at the store you want it to show up at.
  16. This is just general educational advice... When you find someone that is genuinely gifted at what they do, either another student or an instructor, make an extra effort to spend as much time with them as possible, soak up all you can, and ask lots of questions. You're only going to get so many chances in life to have access to a large group of people that are all experts in their fields. Try not to stress too much over it. You'll quickly discover that even total dumbasses go to school and graduate. You'll be fine.
  17. What a fucking moron.. I'm shocked to see someone on CNN correct that idiocy though.
  18. Zoe earned me unsubscribing from PJ media with this one: With that type of half information he's just as bad as the rioters but on a different subject.
  19. It seems that way... One thing is for sure, everyone that does listens to absolutely the worst music.
