  1. My 5.45 looks like that too. Been acking to take a pipe cutter and find out what is being hidden.
  2. I have noticed with the Autoplug, that it focuses the gas much differently that the factory plug. even with it all the way tight, it will not perform the same way as a factory plug. The angle and shape of the opening to the gas ports is very small. I got mine working great and stopped making changes, but I was going to dremel out the sides of the gas opening on the Auto Plug so it would direct the gas a little differently more similar to the facroty plug. I thought that if the rotation was not exactly perfect, that the small bottom opening on the autoplug could be blocking gas, opening the
  3. I am wondering if the rail is putting any presure on the gas tube. Have you shot it without the rail? I did everything you mentioned and it worked like a charm.
  4. What is that screw for on the release lever on the bottom of the stock. The thing you press to make the stock move in and out? If it is too tight, will it keep the stock from locking in possition?
  5. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/39881-welcome-new-users-read-this-first/ There is a section called "Failure to Feed" That will have a link to a non-stickied article on how big you ports should be. Either somthing is binding, very possible, or you do not have enough gas. I like Bridis' idea about having someone look at it. Just having someone else take a look can solve a lot of problems. When you are fighting these things, it is easy to overlook something.
  6. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/33836-modification-to-repair-fte-issues-on-saigas-with-blocked-gas-ports/ Just thought is you be nice to actually give help to someone instead of telling them to do a search or read the entire forum, when we DO NOT have a sticky on the subject as of today. Now when someone does do a search they will find this thread and some help instead of another dead end.
  7. Any wiggle on the scope mount? Have you watched anyone else shoot it, to see if something looks off? Do you get the same results using the iron sights? How about taking off the muzzle break for a test? Even a smooth bore at 25 yards should be hitting paper. Something is loose or touching the slug. Watching somone else pull the trigger might make it obvious.
  8. No big deal, it is not like loosing class 3 firearms.
  9. I picked up a few boxes of the Centurion Round Ball and can hit paper at 100 yards with open sights. I would not shoot an animal with one, but a human or paper is fine, if you are not looking for sniper rifle accuracy.
  10. Tested mine Saturday, all the US TAPCO mags worked as well as the original mag, no bullet guide.
  11. I used a flat black paint pen and it looked a pretty good match, until I feel like refinishing the whole thing.
  12. I pushed a punch through to give me leverage and make it easy to assemble the parts, then used the pin to push the punch out. A little wiggling and the spring stayed in place and the pin slid right in. Then I took it all apart and did some dremal work on the BHO so the safety lever would slide in properly. The punch trick worked well on the second assembly too.
  13. I was thinking about reshaping the bottom of the Autoplug a little so it will match up with the gas ports better. It just looks like the gas is not going to project toward the puck as well as it would with the factory plug.
  14. I did all the Dremel work by hand without any vice. I did need a good set of hardened punches to get the rivets out. Overall it was easy. As a good measure tape off the receiver so the Dremel does not make a horrible mark if you slip.
  15. A couple of washers under the front screws might help, so you can make a small gap. I took a dremel to my UTC on the MAK-90 with quite a bit of fitting and would expect the same on the Saiga.
