thats a 24mm FSB. You options are to get a proper 74 fsb and brake (not sure of NY law) or to pull the FSB off and use an older model FSB and thread for 14x1lh.

Im thinking about picking one of these up. Any downside to the bullet guide being installed in this manner? Thanks, Fin

In order to convert the front end to take standard handguards and gas tube is the following all thats needed? 1. Standard AKM gas tube + upper handguard 2. Bolt on handguard retainer 3. AKM lower handguard? Please advise. - Fin

If it were ME. I'd do in this order: 1.) Get out of the SCAR 5.56 and into a 7.62 one. 2.) Sell the SCAR, pick up an SLR-106FR and share ammo with your other 5.56 weapons (sounds like you have a few) 3.) Trade SCAR for an SGL-31 side-folder and buy a lot of ammo.

I now have no fear doing a conversion thanks to this thread. Now just which caliber to get. 7.62 or 5.56
