  1. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/74248-sgm-100rd-beta-mag/ She still runs like a champ.
  2. I've got a sidematch next Saturday- I might can contribute afterwards
  3. What does 5.45 do to steel targets anyway, if anything at all? I would like to use the 74 in gun games. If the sun is going down a bit it makes a great spark show. Other than that, not much.
  4. I once faced a similar decision and just went with Saiga 223 specific mags (promags and SGM). A bit more up front, but no need to do anything else.
  5. I noticed that as well- will those work with or without a bullet guide?
  6. Great build man! Thanks for the views with the scope- exactly the kind of thing I'm wanting to do with mine without sacrificing the iron sights. Good job! And, for what it's worth, I LIKE the fuglystick in looks and functionality. On a short barrel it's nice to have something out there to grab.
  7. I don't know. The drum is just your regular M4 drum with a SGM tower attached to it. I would think if regular SGM mags could be modified to run with a bullet guide, the tower of the drum could as well. I just don't have much experience to say one way or another- maybe somebody will chime in with an answer.
  8. It is cool Joebanks! I got a chance the last Saturday of January to put it through its paces at a multigun competition. Functioned flawlessly and accomplished exactly what I wanted it to do when shooting prone. Below are some pics- the first target is standing, unsupported @100 yards (best 5), the second is prone at 200 yards (5 best, got 6 alphas). Since it was the last course, I got to keep the targets. Laid the drum on my left forearm and went to town with my iron sights! I did find one issue with the drum though- you really have to baby any brass rounds when loading it with the loader
  9. Thanks guys! Since that course was our last of the day we got to tear it down. I kept these as a souvenir. The Octagon target is the 200 yarder (prone), the IDPA target is the 100 yard (standing, unsupported). Shot with Tula 55gr FMJ from a SGM 100rd drum.
  10. Good shooting! If we ever in a match together, we have to squad up. Folks out my way go nuts when I bring out one Saiga and consider me altogether insane when I bring out 2!
  11. I had the pleasure to shoot a multigun match at Bluegrass Sportsmans League (Versailles, KY) last Saturday. My 3-gun platforms are a Saiga 12, Saiga 223 and an M&P9 (because Saiga doesn't make a pistol ). Anyway, the last course of the day was all rifle. We had to put 5 on an IDPA target at 100 yards, standing and unsupported then we had to put 5 on an IPSC target at 200 and could do whatever we wanted (I went prone). When all was said and done, the little Saiga went all alphas on both targets, with iron sights! Only guy on the squad to do it, maybe the only guy in the match but don't know
  12. Yes, move that lever up and you can remove the gas tube, down locks it in. The Saiga "kiss" on the brass is of importance only if you reload. If yours isn't doing it- great! Mine does. Enjoy the 223. These rifles can put some incredible accuracy.
  13. I know this goes against the general counsel of Saiga magazines, but in my 223 Promags have been 100%. I don't know that I would ever run one in my S-12, but I have no reservations running them in the 223.
  14. Hey Folks, I just thought I would share a little review about the SGM 100 Beta Mag specific for the Saiga 223 (one is also available for ARs). I picked up one from Cope's Distributing back around Christmas when they ran them on sale for $100 (I think they are $169 now). These are Korean made mags and will come stamped as "M16/M4 Drum." SGM has simply taken the drum for the M4 platform and put a Saiga 223 tower on it. You've probably seen the package, but it comes with a nice case, graphite bottle lube and 5 round loader. I looked the internet over to see if anyone had experience with them,
