  1. Bump! Lahti Saloranta has 20rd double to single so it can be done... Fine with me if there has to be a dummy round or two in it to make it function. I'd be excited about even a double stack 10. Metal single stacks would be nice too but I'd prefer short as bench shooting is how I will be using mine.

    IKE's 223 Build

Tomorrow night I will be testing the modified 74 style, a real 74, and 2 custom "over size" 1.25" OD stainless brakes pattered after the 74 style (huge expansion chamber) but there are no holes drilled yet on top for the muzzle rise. I wanted to see what they do and how they sound first. One I made for 30 cal since it's so big anyway and it can take removable thread inserts so down the road if I get a FAL/AR10/whatever I can adapt it. This weekend is booked up but after that I should have some free time to upload my pics. I will try and video record the differences.
  3. +1 for KC913. Shipped out some AK74 brakes fast and at a good price!! Thanks!

    IKE's 223 Build

Sorry I need to update this, I have a ton of pics but been busy. Getting ready to go on a float trip and basically no free time after work. I promise I'll have more pics. I've gone to bigger and better things (custom muzzle brake) as well as a real 74 brake. I need more range time defiantly as I need to sight in my scope. End of august I should have more info.
  5. I think it varies by gun with tolerances etc. But I put a bullet guide in my Saiga and both the Tapco and the REAL 35 round steel Galil mags rock in and feed like they were made for the rifle without touching the mags. Even the one I have with the rear top end spread out from use/drops works fine.

What no comments? I'd thought at least the muzzle brake mod would have sparked some discussion...
  7. Saw this is sticky'd or something so that's why I voted & replied. I use Galil mags. Both Tapco plastic & Steel original 35 rounders. No need to rock them out to remove them, they drop free when you press the mag release on my rifle which is cool.
  8. Mine is "velcro'ed out" too haha. It was RAAC, and the other side says TGI KNOX TN. I stripped and duracoated the whole gun and sanded every laser etch down smooth so no more lighting matches for me. But it did make it smooth to the touch and look nicer. And the other etchings (SAIGA 223, Serial number) became more clean and legible. Rifle was made 8/30/2009.

    IKE's 223 Build

Just a few tonight, more will come later. These few pics are just a teaser. It's a 16" 223, 09 model with "military" features (dimples, barrel markings/etc). I cut back the shroud 9/16" and threaded it. BG installed and Galil mags work perfect (TAPCO & Steel 35 rounders). Modified the original mag to work with the BG for bench shooting. I've got to hurry to get it ready for next weekend as some friends of mine have a big shoot scheduled. I have a side scope mount & 3-9x 40mm scope as well. I polished the trigger group. That's the break down, here are some highlights of the interesting
  10. I have not got your PP info yet. I will take TWO now. Please let me know. Thanks!
  11. That's a 20" barrel, not sure what muzzle device was put on there or how it was attached but it's long. Converted gives it more neutral balance and makes it just overall easier to shoot.
  12. I got my shroud cut back finally. Exactly to 9/16"s which is exactly how long the muzzle nut is I got, so I can protect the threads when transporting without a muzzle brake. Barrel diameter is .564" which is perfect for 14mmx1 thread. Made in 09. I roughly measured my AMD65 brake and the threads are 5/8" deep and the 74style use copy is 3/4" deep. Pipe cutter didn't work, was really frustrating but didn't damage anything. I used a hacksaw with 32 teeth per inch, and a 1/2" wide hose clamp and kept rotating it and clamping it back down as I went around. You think you are cutting into the b
  13. WhiteRabbit: good point I had not thought of that!
