  1. open side about 2clock i think. (as you are looking down the sights)
  2. It would look like this... I love my setup but I'm not crazy about the wobbly-ass T6 and the fact that the UTG is not a 922 part. Other than that it rocks!
  3. Wasn't bad cause hes such a BIG guy that the bolt was relatively low in front of his chin maybe. Id have to guess at least a couple inches to spare. With that said, he was fully aware of the danger, an unsuspecting southpaw would likely get whacked. Added bonus-the stubby can be changed over to the collapsible setup I have in <30 seconds so if it's not for a particular shooter's taste its no problem. Also I saw Deadeye's stock before I even did mine, thats what encouraged me to give it a shot. thanks Deadeye!
  4. ^1 to this. My factory thread looked just like number 1. TOp one threaded, bottom not. IMO you can see how the top one dives away from the crown* (?) of the barrel at about 15 degrees and you can see a bit of thin thread at about 7/8 oclock. the bottom one is flush-fit to the shroud.
  5. Im sure you were able to do that actually, Its not really that far and even though you didnt have a super cool tactical stance Ive seen 100 pound Korean girls pull off similar groups with my 16" Saiga at about 25' after a pig roast and a day on the lake. Everyone has a good day now and then, glad yours was on the first day out!
  6. Shot it today for the first time in this setup: First shot wasnt paying attention and rung my bell when the receiver button came back and smacked my cheekbone. OUCH! After that got a firm cheek weld on TOP of the receiver and was plenty comfortable to shoot. I basically got over the gloom and doom of the potential receiver blow up and put my insurance policy where my mouth is (literally).Even got my wifes co-worker, a left-handed 6'5" bruiser, to shoulder it (sorta) and squeezed off a clip. Long story short, a fun and gratifying end to a project that finally got that beater OEM stock out of
  7. I have an 08 IZ in 7.62 that is threaded. My buddy has an 09 that is not. The factory would run out of threaded barrels from time to time and sub-in the unthreaded ones willie-nillie. There is literally no record or method to which one you'll get. However, the good news is that It is OBVIOUS to see if you have threads on a potential rifle w/o removing the shroud. You can actually SEE the first thread or two peeking out from the gap between the barrel and the shroud. I wish to God I took pics of mine for reference but once you see a threaded rifle you'll always be able to tell them apart at fir

  9. Great Idea! next gun show ill try and scrounge one up, thanks!
  10. its normal. mine was similar but worked out fine inside. Are you doing a bullet guide I hope also? I you didnt buy one yet, youll want to make one out of pipe and put it in while you got her apart.
  11. No haven't shot it yet, but looking at the ergos, it seems not unlike firing a draco with a smallish buttstock attached. Its easy to switch back and forth if I dont like it though so just a prototype. Plus I have a few more OEMs laying around for ver 2.0, 3.0, etc.
  12. Got bored and decided to mess with my old sporter stock. couple hours and a few beers later... It is literally 30 1/8" long, with the fixed and welded flash hider. It needs some sanding and a coat of flat black but not bad for a junk part. I wanna see some more attempts though so dig out those old dust collectors and give it a try!
