  1. A thousand thank yous for your wisdom and patience answering random questions about saiga conversions. I just completed a stock to muzzle brake conversion on a 7.62, and it simply would not have gone as well without the fine people on this board. Just about any answer can be found using the search option, and for those who have "been there and done that", I appreciate your willingness to share your experiences so the rest of us can learn and do it right our first time out. Scott
  2. "The tab should rest pretty much all the way into the corner of the magazine lug tho, for the most secure retention." Mullet Man, that is exactly what I needed to know. Thank you brotha.
  3. Ok, I have read several threads on here about the mag catch, which I am currently working on. I filed down the top of the mag catch to the point where the military mag will catch, but the mag catch lever is straight up and down, if that makes sense. In other words, it is not returning to the position it is in without a mag in the well. The lip of the mag is angled, and I am trying to figure out if I need to file a tad more off. I don't want the catch to engage all the way to the bottom of the lip near the mag, just because I know it will loosen over time. Should I file it until the edge of the
  4. This will be my setup as well. Curious to hear from the experts also.
  5. You're right, GOB, and I found this out the hard way. How do you think I can "fix it right". Should I just get a larger drill and tap and try it again? And of course a tap wrench
  6. Installed dinzag bullet guide in 7.62. Of course, after reading all the warnings about breaking off tap, I broke off the tap. Drill lost grip and would not turn tap either direction. While tightening chuck, I bent and snapped the tap. Hit tap with punch, would not break, so I broke out the dremel and ground it smooth in the feed ramp. I then used JB Weld (Steel) to secure the bullet guide in place. It looks great, and seems very secure. Do you think this will hold, or am I just kidding myself? Thanks. Scott
  7. Just my experience, but there is quite a difference in 74 style MB's and actual 74 MB's. Didn't know if yours is either of those.
  8. On this site in the WTS section, a fella named MarkW has some plum and wood furniture for sale. I think the thread is titled "Bulgarian AK 74 Parts for Sale". I would link it, but I am not that tech savy.
  9. Please do let us know how they function for your at the range. I have been eyeballing these for a few weeks.
  10. Not to join the bandwagon, but +1000 for CSS.
  11. Which muzzle brake did you end up going with? Assuming that is a 7.62, did you get a muzzle break for a 7.62, or is it AK 74? Sorry if the question seems goofy, but I am at that phase of the conversion. Fairly confused about what muzzle brake to go with. Plan on pressing off FSB and putting on Bulgy 74 FSB (also bought from MarkW).
  12. Is it this one? http://www.cncwarrio...e-muzzle-brake/ That's for the 14x1mm L thread of standard AK (and some Saigas under the shroud. This one is for the 24mm FSB. It is "Bulgarian" style and US made. He is out of stock, but call and see when they expect more to be run. http://www.cncwarrio...m-type74-brake/ That is just what I need, thank you.

  14. Thank you for the links. I gather the general consensus is to buy a 7.62 brake for a 7.62, and it is a crap shoot whether a 5.45 brake will work on a 7.62. Sounds reasonable to me.
  15. Obviously, new to the forum. Been reading and learning for a long time, just never joined. I am completing the conversion of my 7.62, and my last project is the FSB. I waddled between threading the barrel or pressing off the FSB, and have decided to press off the FSB and put the 74 style that mark sells in the WTS section. I just want to make sure that the 74 style Bulgy FSB will work on the Saiga 7.62? Also, Mark sells two different muzzle brakes, the standard 2 piece and the zig zag. Which one do you recommend? Thanks!
