  1. Too rich for my blood. I like the "Tactical" 308, but I would not have chosen that stock.

Beautiful place to build. Congrats and if you ever get up to DFW the drinks are on me.
  3. Scary stuff going on right now. And I don't just mean way over there. I really thought I had reached a point where Obama couldn't surprise or disappoint me. I was wrong.
  4. I am saving every penny right now to snag a Vepr .308. Should be able to buy it in the next two weeks or so, if it is still available. While I am hopeful that this is true, I just don't think the prices are coming back down south of $800, and its not worth the risk that they won't be available and the price goes up.
  5. 308 or x39 I prefer the x39 because it has 30 rounds. My 308 is bolt action. Like someone else said, carefully shoot the first one then go rapid fire on the rest.
  6. Thanks for posting this. I have been shopping around and looking at various brakes. My VEPR .308 has 14x1 LH threaded barrel. Maybe a dumb question, but the x39 brake will work on the 308 correct? I have two Bulgy 74 brakes on my Saiga x39's, and I had to drill them out to .400 for clearance. Just wondering...
  7. So that dent comes from the brass hitting the dust cover as it is flying out?
  8. Not entirely off subject, but have yall watched the video of the pilot? I have seem some pretty gruesome things in 20 years of LE, but dayum. That was hard to watch. What kind of void do you have to have in your heart to do something like that? Just pisses me off. I highly doubt Obama has watched the video. Because what kind of void do you have to have in your heart to watch that and not immediately want to act when you clearly have the authority and means to do so?
  9. Awesome! That's all I needed to know. Order will be placed next week and I will ask about getting the barrel threaded. Thank you so much for the response!
  10. What is the story with this FSB? I want to buy this Vepr, but not sure what all will be involved in getting a muzzle brake on it. Does not look like enough of the barrel is exposed to thread it myself. I have not seen or worked with this type of FSB on a VEPR. Thoughts?
  11. My favorite part of the "crowd involvement" was near the end when he took out the Iraqi sniper. The packed theater erupted.
  12. Finally going to see it tonight with the wife. First movie in a long time I have looked forward to going to see. ETA-Wow. Great movie. Great man.
  13. What's your price range? Palmetto State Armory is a good source if you are wanting to "assemble" one. They run some pretty good specials on lowers and parts kits, as well as the assembled uppers. IIRC, you can put together a PSA AR10 for around $750 to $800. I have several of their AR15's, and they are quality IMHO. DPMS has a Gen2 AR10 that has gotten some great reviews. They have several flavors to choose from, most being under $1000.
  14. Awesome. Thanks for the response, and really confirmed what I was thinking. The other factor I had to consider is I can always save up and get an AR10 or a bolt action.....the days of being able to get a VEPR for a decent price are probably limited.
  15. That's where he got it. Legion. That's the rifle, and it has the nice wood. He owes me a little, so with shipping, tax, and FFL, minus what he owes me, its $800. If I ordered it from Legion, it would be around $835, $20 for shipping and $15 for FFL. No tax.
  16. Got a buddy who is an FFL. He knows I regret never buying a VEPR. I have converted 2 Saigas and love em. So he calls me because he has a NIB VEPR 308 with 23 inch barrel. $800. Good buy? Or at least a decent buy? He knows I have been wanting to get a 308, and I had looked at AR10s, Tikka, Savage, and Remington bolt actions, and so this would meet two wants. A VEPR and a 308. No real specific use in mind. Maybe hog hunting, but the Saigas do just fine for that. Thoughts? ETA-Its the slant back version 1.
  17. I may draw ire for this comment, but I am very thankful for not only the life and service provided this country by Chris Kyle, but I am also thankful for Clint Eastwood and the entire production staff for introducing him to the world. Chris Kyle is now a household name, and from the comments I have read from Chris Kyle's friends, they are also impressed with the movie and how accurate it is. That is a rarity in Hollywood.
  18. Also they are now releasing the steel reinforced AK mags. $26.95 IIRC. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Er_eVvdGnKk&feature=player_detailpage
  19. That made me spit coffee. I have extended latches on all mine, and yes, I still occasionally punch myself.
