  1. Very cool models. I loved building models when I was young. Don't have the time, patience or space to build models anymore. Still have a few kits in the attic, probably melted by now. I really should yard sale them. I built cars, ships, and planes. My favorite I think was my old B17 bomber. I built it to look like it had been thru hell. I took a lighter, tipped the plane nose down, and just past the edge of the flame, circled 2 of the engines to produce a sooty engine fire look. I took a soldering iron and carefully dotted the plane with bullet marks. I created some flak damage with a heat gun softening up the plastic a little and pressing a old iron pyrite rock into it, then pulling it away and using the lighter for the soot marks. I loved that plane. Not sure what happened to it. I built models differently. My 64 had rust holes, cracked windshield, missing hubcaps, etc.. I had nice cars too. But always liked being different. We had a local hobby shop years ago that had competitions and I won a couple times (we get a gift certificate for more crap to build, lol). I also liked Star Trek ships, light kits, battle damage. I used sparklers drawn across the ship to simulate phaser damage.

My son did get interested in building models, but he's 8 so he can't help but playing with them. We built a snap together General Lee and he already broke it. Even though he has a diecast General Lee to play with. Also built a model of my CRX.

  2. Sell the 54r Vepr and buy a 30-06 or 308 Vepr. I had 3 Veprs in 7.62x54r (not all at once). My 20" being the most accurate but never falling in love with any of them. The mags suck, the extractors are more prone to breakage, and surplus is no longer cheap and plentiful. Unless you have a ton of surplus the 308 is a better option IMHO. The 30-06 looks cool, but mags look to be short, although double stack.

We finally saw it this weekend. Now, I am not a film critic. I watch films for their entertainment value, and to whisk me away from reality for a couple hours. This film did it. I was not concerned with the story, or plot holes, just pure enjoyment of a childhood obsession reanimated. I grew up in the 70s and 80s, and Star Wars was a huge part of my life. I saw the movies, the TV shows and cartoons spawned off, had all the toys, bed sheets, curtains, etc.... Then when Lucas did the prequels I was optimistic, but sadly disappointed as most were. 2 years ago, I bought the box set of the original Star Wars movies and both my son and daughter loved them. The Star Wars Rebels, and Clone Wars were popular on the cartoon TV channels, and my son (8 now) became obsessed with Star Wars, as I had as a child, so it was both fun and nostalgic for me. Then we got excited when we heard the new movie was coming out, and we couldn't wait. This past Sunday we all went a little ways away to a nicer theater and saw the new Star Wars The Force Awakens. We loved it. It was nice to see the old cast, and ships. I kept looking over at my son to see his excitement. We all had a great time, the movie was very entertaining, and we talked about it a lot afterwards. It won't win any Oscars, but I think it has won a new generation of fans. It did what it was made to do, entertain. We loved it. But, then again, I am still a kid at heart.

I was disappointed there was not a single Corellian Cruiser or Neb B frigate. Oh well maybe next time.

Well, at least they kept the Falcon, and didn't try to redesign it like Abrams did with the Enterprise, in the Star Trek reboot. That was an ugly ship.

You know NY and CA will try that ASAP.

So how do the rest of us put a stop to this BS?

And I expect a few others to try too...

Connecticut , Maryland, New Jersey and perhaps a few more.

Normally I would agree with the MD thing, but we lucked out and got a good, Republican governor last election cycle. So, we have a couple years before we have to deal with that. BUT.......I know our commie attorney general is licking his chops.

  6. Since I grew up on the original Star Wars movies, I can't wait to see the new ones. I know that George Lucas almost killed the franchise with the last 3 clunkers, but I still have hope. JJ Abrams did a great job restarting the Star Trek franchise, in my opinion.  So, I am optimistic. The joy I have is seeing my son so into the Star Wars universe as I was. When I was a kid back in the late 70s and 80s, I had Star Wars ships, figures, lunch box, read along records, VHS movies, bed sheets, curtains, cups, plates, and anything else they could put Star Wars on. My son has tons of Star Wars stuff. I actually replaced my VHS collection about 2 years ago with the DVD collectors set, and both my son and daughter have been watching it like crazy. I think when my son saw Princess Leah in the gold slave bikini, he became a man, just as when I saw it in what, 1983? As much as I can't stand the newer 3 prequel movies, I think Natalie Portman is really cute, but she, along with princess Leah is a strong female lead my daughter can root for. As far as Jar Jar Binks, I hate him as well. But, just maybe, we hate him because was an evil Sith Lord????

  7. Adding to the necro thread, I love the versatility of my 16" Vepr 308, but it uses a better cartridge, so in 54r, I would go with 23", or 20" minimally. If you just plan to use as a brush gun gun or for blasting at the range, 16 is fun. My 20" 54r still shot out fireballs, I ended up keeping the 23".

  8. I grew up a nice, unracist, unbiased Georgia boy. I grew up playing army, playing with toy guns, watching the Dukes of Hazzard. I loved living in the south. People were warm, laid back and friendly. Then my father moved us up to Maryland, land of the libtards where all the DC refugees live. Racism was more open up here than it was down where I was. I had always thought of the rebel flag as a symbol of defiance against an overreaching federal government, and a symbol of southern pride and heritage. As bad as it was to see the same guy who killed 9 people in a church in S. Carolina wave the rebel flag, I haven't heard anyone cry out about the pics of him burning the American flag which I have great respect for as well. The rebel flag has been removed from most selling outlets, yet you can buy Soviet and Nazi stuff, both of which killed millions more than the confederacy, which I guess is ok as the liberal left idolizes the ideals of socialism and communism. Warner brothers has declined to license out the General Lee car with the flag on it anymore. Because some sick fuck waved a flag I kind of identified with culturally being a southerner, now it has become "HATE" to have or display the flag, but we have to abide by the right of dissenters to burn and desecrate the American flag under the 1st amendment. But my unpopular opinion isn't respected. I am ok with gay people getting married, but I am sick of the stupid rainbows on peoples' profile pics on FB, and the fricking rainbow White House. Shoving it down my throat. I mean, you can no longer buy a rebel flag on ebay, but you can buy an American flag with the stripes in rainbow colors celebrating LGBT life. We have brave soldiers, hurt in combat losing a bravery award to  Bruce Jenner? WTF. I grew up playing with toy guns. At recess we used sticks in the shapes of guns. Neither myself or any of my friends went on killing sprees. Yet now, I have to warn my son not to draw, speak about, or infer use of imaginary guns for fear of expulsion from school. My kids are learning common core principles in school, and I can't help them with their homework because I can't shove my head far enough up my ass to understand common core. The old school ways were fine, now they have to show the methods on how they got their answer. Even if they get the correct answer, but did not do it according to the set agenda, they get marked wrong. We are expected to respect the rights of men who identify with being a women so they can pee in the ladies room, yet people look at me like I'm a perv when I stand right outside the ladies room because my young daughter is in there. Sorry for the long rant, but I just feel this whole country if fvcked up beyond repair anymore. I remember when men were men, and it was ok for women to be women and need a man. I am fine with equality, but it needs to be a two way street respecting those with traditional values as well. I mean, here in Baltimore, things are spinning out of control, and everyone wants to blame something else and not address the core problems. The liberals want their cake, and to eat it too, but have someone else do the work and clean up the mess.

  9. My VZ2008 has been great. Most of the gun is outsourced. A machine shop (can't recall the name) mills the receiver, Green Mountain makes the barrels, the rest is parts kit stuff. Mine has great accuracy and great reliability using FMJ, HP, and SP rounds. I had a tab welded on mine for $20. I love it. So light and reliable. Got a CNC Warrior brake for it as well.

I better order some quick before they are sold out!!!

FWIW, CTD tried to screw us over around Christmas 2012 (Newtown) AFTER our order was placed just before the Newtown shooting. And charging us the new rate by trying to re-enter our original order now at 3 times the cost.I will NEVER buy from them again.
