  1. Not around here they arent.. I had a room mate who brought some friends (rich hippies) to stay the weekend at our big college house. They tried giving me a hard time for eating meat, subway, and using Head and Shoulders shampoo because it's not organic. I jokingly told them they shouldn't be giving shower advice
  2. There are plenty of college students working 40 hours/week to pay for school and are lefty. I have college roommates that are bitter about having to pay fo school when in many places in Europe it's covered. I went to a REASONABLE school (Northern Illinois University - about $8,500/yr), got into a major that I knew I'd be able to find a job with (engineering), took out loans, worked hard to get a job after college, then took all of my spare money to pay off my loans over the following 5 years. Between what I paid off while I was in school and living on the cheap for 5 years I was able to pa
  3. Glad you figured out it was a fitment issue and just needed filing - I was about to ask if you filed it down to fit your gun first. I have a titan quad rail and got it to fit perfectly. Now I just slam it shut and it's perfect. I agree w/ the locktite comments as well. I had a few parts coming loose after several rounds just from the recoil. blue locktite did the trick!
  4. Why is it that college aged people (mainly women in my experience?) become such tree hugger hippies? That's a serious question. I get so aggrevated with people my age and some of their goofy ideas. One friend of mine and I argue politics all the time. He comes up with these UNREALISTIC ideas about how we need to get rid of money all together, open the borders completely, give everyone legal citizenship, get rid of the meat industry, encourage unions, etc etc.. I can see how SOME of his ideas are progressive and it's good to challenge what we have now sometimes, but almost all of our argu
  5. I'm in Schaumburg, IL. That would be awesome if someone nearby wanted to help!
  6. So I'm about finished upgrading my S12 and would like a Saiga 223 rifle next. I know I want a 223, and I would LIKE to buy it already converted. My goal is to make it look similar to my S12 (all black, quad rails, etc). The bolt on stuff I can do myself, I just want a very basic .223 with conversion done already. Just a couple questions: 1) Are there any other "reliability" modifications needed on a new Saiga .223? (IE, opening gas ports similar to the S12?) 2) Where is the best place (best value) to buy these? 3) What's a reasonable price for a converted .223? Thanks!
  7. wow really? So someone shot one up in the air and it came down on him? That's what it sounds like anyway.. wow that could have been even worse if he caught it in the head/face/neck etc.. lots of dumbasses out there..
  8. So I have a 'hobby budget' that I've discussed on the forum before.. I put about $110 / month into my "hobby budget" which goes towards guns, ammo, and modifications. I just got started in this hobby about a year ago so up to this point I've spent money on the basic stuff like a good 20 gun safe, cleaning kits, magazines, ammo, etc.. for my (2) current guns.. Saiga 12 shotgun, Springfield XD(m) 45 pistol. I'm thinking of what to do next.. I could always use more ammo surplus (have about 200 rounds of 12 ga buck and 350 rounds FMJ .45 acp). Plus the rounds for practicing and getting better
  9. Besides shooting.. Motorcycles (sportbikes) cars aquariums (fresh water african cichlids -pics below) lifting weights (general fitness) Anything outdoors Training / hiking with my security guard "Arnold" (1 yr old Rottweiler)
  10. Yeah I'm not looking to make a ton of money I just thought someone else that was getting into casting would want some cheap lead. Thanks for the info about scrapping - I'll look into it if nobody here ends up wanting it.
  11. So I started looking into casting my bullets out of lead from wheel weights. As many people know that in the US we're switching from lead weights to Zn and Steel weights. I have some friends at car dealers who saved up their wheel weights for a while. I sorted out all of the lead weights myself. there are no bolts, screws, or other garbage mixed in with these. I'm selling the lead clip-on wheel weights for .80 / lb. I have about 100 lbs sorted so far. I planned on doing some smelting/casting to make bullets, but several unexpected expenses have come up so I need the extra money and dont
  12. Right now I have the Chaos Titan rail with Chaos H&K sights. I've had them for a while now and probably put 250 or so rounds through the S12 with them on. I'm not a huge fan of this style of sights because I find it hard to aim very quickly sinc ehte notch is so small on the rear sights. I know these are popular sights and a lot of people like them, I'm just not a big fan. Anyways, what other options are there? What does everyone else have? I would really like it if I could find some that match up with an EOTech as a cowitness. Thoughts? My brother has an EO Tech on his AR15 and
  13. I'm just glad there's another option out there for Saiga 12 owners. Nice job Pauly! Keep it up!
  14. It's surprising how many people will talk about zombies post after post, thread after thread, even describing zombies as needing headshots to be killed and many other similarities to zombies from movies, until someone brings up that zombies aren't real.. then everyone backtracks saying that when they say "zombie" they mean terrorist or SHTF situation, etc. Just admit it's fantasy Anyways, I dont see anything wrong with some preparation. I think the bottom line is that we all have different idea's of what reasonable preparation is. Some like myself think it's very unlikely that S will HTF
  15. I've mounted mine to the swingarm of my motorcycle (lots of bumps) and had no problems.. I've had really good experiences w/ it. So far anyway..
  16. I'm going to guess the walmart sunglass cameras are not as good as Gopro.
  17. uhh yeah they might try harder because they HAVE TO haha. If you guys are attracted to fat chicks than more power to ya - you wont have any competition from me!
  18. Can I ask how much you paid? I've been considering getting one.
  19. I understand preparing for realistic disasters like many have mentioned above.. it just makes sense. You dont hear anything about this on any forum but gun forums - I feel like people just want to justify having a huge amount of firepower or to keep collecting ammo/firearms. I'm guilty of it too! I read an article very recently about how every generation has it's "The world is ending soon" or "The US is in a fast downward spiral" reasons.. whether it's disease, cold war, terrorism, recession, our leadership, etc.. But the world continues on and the US is still here. Datrowl you say I ne
  20. Caged, I think you missed my point.. I'm not a financial advisor I'm an engineer. My point was that it may not be the best investment preparing for things that are very unlikely to happen. I could quickly spend 5 times what I have in savings and many people would say I'm still unprepared for SHTF or zombie apocalypse or the German invasion etc.. In the meantime I'd be stuck with no savings and sitting on 50,000 rounds of buckshot that I'll never use. I believe in preparation, just not to the point that I'm making big sacrafices in my life today or tomorrow. I'd like to know what everyone
  21. I'm not sure where I stand on this issue.. I can see both sides I guess. I really hate those traffic light cameras (probably because I've been caught by one) but you could make the same argument about technology being adapted by the police for those too.
