  1. Yikes! I didn't know I what I was unleashing by starting this thread. I didn't mean anything as a slight to FBMG, I was just trying to get some suggestions for my mags. Due to my schedule, it's usually it's difficult for me to call during business hours but since I'm EST and they are mountain, I shouldn't have a problem calling this week to get it sorted out. I appreciate all the replies, and sorry for any unpleasantness I may have started or implied! -chris
  2. I'm having trouble with my FBMG mags. I got in on the pre-order and recieved my mags before most people on the forum reported that they got them, but I didn't have a chance to try them out until much later. I went to the range a few weeks ago to try them out. This was also my first time shooting the Saiga 308 since I got it. The factory 8 rounder fed with no problem at all. The first FBMG mag fed all 20 with no problem. The second FBMG mag, I could only fire one or two rounds before it would fail to feed. When I would try to manually feed, sometimes it would work, and sometimes I could onl
  3. How long did it take them to reply? I have not had good performance with my mags either. I emailed them last Monday and haven't heard anything back yet. -chris
  4. I have two rifles: a Saiga 308 and a CMP Garand. I took both to the range today. Both are amazingly fun to shoot. But I'd have to say if I was only going to have one rifle, it would be the Garand. There's just something about the history, the kick of that 30-06, and the fact that it finds its target every time (I'm sure others will argue that the Saiga 308 is just as accurate, but I haven't found that to be the case for me). Don't worry about the Garand needing any work. I got one of the last CMP service grade Garands from their most recent batch (Greek issue). All I did was clean it and lube
  5. That's pretty sweet. Where'd you get the stock and grip? I was going to leave mine stock, but I've heard the call and now I'm shopping around for pg conversion parts :-) -chris
  6. Thanks for all the replies, guys. I think it makes sense to me now. I guess it's helpful to remember that the countable imported parts is what matters, not the number of US parts. I've sent BRG3 a couple of emails about doing the stock but I haven't heard back from him yet. I know he's backed up, but I'm not sure my emails are even going through. Has anyone else talked to him lately? -chris
  7. Sorry to beat a dead horse guys, but I just want to make sure I'm clear on this, especially with the political climate right now. I just got my 16" .308 a couple of weeks ago and just yesterday got my hi-cap mags I ordered back in June (I wasn't in any hurry to get the rifle until the 20 rounders were closer to my doorstep!) I want to keep this in the sporter configuration, but still use the hi-caps. I know there's another thread on this, but I couldn't tell what the final word was, especially since I think the number us US parts in the new mags changed at some point. I sent BRG3 an em
  8. Not the one on the top in the row with the other two Saigas, but the horizontally oriented 308 that's just below that top row and also the "micro 308" below that. They look like M14 mags to me... I'm puzzled as well. -chris
  9. Thanks for the heads up. That's a great deal! -chris
  10. I really appreciate you guys at fbmg keeping us updated on the status of the mags. That's really helpful and, unfortunately, uncommon. I don't mind waiting as long as I know it's for a good reason and the wheels are turning. You guys rock! -chris
  11. Wow, that looks incredible! I want one!
  12. I love that wood stock, finlander. Where did you get it?
  13. Do you remember how much they were asking? Even if it's considerably more than some of the prices online, it might be worth it considering shipping and transfer fees.
  14. Yeah, I visit the classic arms site regularly and have heard great things about them. I would have no problem buying a Saiga from them, but I don't see any in .308 on their site. I won't be able to make it to the gun show this weekend, but I won't be ready to buy anything for a couple of months yet anyway. Maybe by the next time it rolls around... I've been to the Dixie Gun and Knife Show they have at the fairgrounds every few months but I've always been disappointed with the selection. I think the show this weekend is put on by someone else... you guys know if it's any better? -ch
  15. Hey guys, I'm new here. I'm thinking about getting a Saiga in .308. I've only seen them available online, but I'd like to buy one locally if possible. I've noticed a few of you are from North Carolina. Any of you guys know of any dealers with a good Saiga selection in the central NC area? -chris
