  1. In theory yes. The reality of it may vary. I have a 6X Belarus scope on my 308. Once sighted in I have not removed it to try on my X39. I have a Kobra on the X39 and am very happy with it. And once it was zeroed I haven't put it on the 308. But, I have taken the Kobra off the X39 and put it back on. After multiple times on and off I have to say that it does hold it's zero quite well. I was actually pretty surprised. Welcome the forum! I am new here myself and am just completing my first conversion on my X39. I am already getting the itch to start on the 308. Yes, these are amazing
  2. AxMan Welcome! I am a newby myself, just finishing my first conversion on my 16" 7.62X39. Dinzags bullet guides are the way to go. Great product and great guy to deal with. I got a G2 and a RSA FCG. The G2 works fine but the safety won't work for me. With the RSA, the safety works. I don't have a good explaination. I went with KVar buttstock and TAPCO forearm. I don't have a machine shop, nor would I know how to use the equipment if I did. I did all the work with a Dremel, drill motor and hand tools. Don't sweat it! The guys on this forum are great. Keep us up to date on your pr
  3. Wow!!!!!! I think we have just experienced the fact that parallel universises DO exist!! Lifer
  4. VJOR, Thanks for the answer. I wish we lived closer and I would pay you to do it! I will look into silver soldering. I'm pretty sure that I can do that. Later Lifer
  5. I am in the process of converting my 7.62X39. I have an RSA trigger that I was going to install. However, I am using an 8-32 bolt to hold the back of the trigger guard in place. The bolt head is inside the reciever and nut on outside. My problem is that the bolt interfers with the placement of the RSA trigger. It appears that the G2 triggers can sit down around the bolt head. The RSA does not. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance Lifer
  6. For the record, I shoot Monarch 223 (lacquered steel cased commy ammo) out of my Ruger ranch rifle with no problem. It wont work worth a crap in my AR15 nor will the Silver Bear 223. But the ranch rifle eats it up. Go figure. Lifer
  7. OSOK Thanks for the answer. I did not get in on the pre-buy. I've only had my 308 for a couple of weeks but would love to get a few 20 round mags to go with my conversion (yet to be done). Lifer
  8. Will these mags be available to us poor slobs that didn't get in on the pre-order? Lifer
  9. Looks nice! I currently have the guts ripped out of my 16" 7.62X39. I have the RSA trigger group and locking plate. Am waiting for Tapco and K-Var to deliver the goods and then I can re-assemble. Good Job! Lifer
  10. Yep, the reciever cover is not a big problem. It should loosen up on it's own. Are you sure that you are pushing in far enough button? It's a pretty stout spring you have to push against. Mine was tempermental at first but has become much more user friendly. Lifer

    Bolt Hold

Jeric Thanks for the answer. I did a search before posting the question but I didn't come up with the link you attached. That pretty much answers my question of if I can do it and how it can be done. I can't wait to get on with the conversion! Lifer

    Slings

Tantal sells an actual Saiga sling. Russian cotton web with leather end pieces (kind of a tanish greenish color). I got one and it fits perfectly and looks great! I want to add that all of my dealings with Tantal have been some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. Lifer
  13. I've got all my parts on order and I am about to gut my Saiga. I've studied the step by step and pretty much feel comfortable with what lies ahead. However, I can find no mention of the BHO plate. Can this still be used in the conversion or is it left out? In the step by step, he shows it removed but I can't find anything about putting it back in. Thanks in advance Lifer
  14. Well, I just got my 1000 round shipment of 308 yesterday and I just now ordered the 223. Shipping is a flat $25. Seems a little high but I ordered it anyway. Thanks for the "heads up"! Lifer
  15. Got my 1000 rounds today! Ordered it Wed and got it today (Fri). The price was just too hard to pass up. Wish I cound have gotten 2000! Thanks for the heads up on this one! Lifer
