  1. I'm in the section cheering for announced entry. The idea of anyone allowed to break into my domicile unannounced is terrifying. Even if the LEO's target is known to be inside, there are too many factors unknown for an entry to be safe for either party at anytime. Wait until target leaves the building. I'm a huge fan of order - even through martial governance, but unannounced entry is too 1984 even for me.
  2. I think I have learned anything from TV shows it would be what NOT to do (there are some exceptions). I have to admit that I have gleaned a little knowledge from Preppers but it's not about firearms for sure.

    Texas?

I've never really thought about open carry until about five years ago and it surprises me that the state I grew up in (PA) is open carry and Texas is NOT! Too many saloon shoot outs in the old days? What happened there?
  4. In the past three years I have met one person outside of a gun shop that knows what the Saiga 12 is. That doesn't tell us much of course (maybe I don't get out often). I have never heard people casually discussing Izhmash, Saiga, RAA, or Arsenal, etc. I'm probably just not in the right crowd.
  5. Ugh, I was hoping this wouldn't be DVD material... I'll spend the $$$ on The Hobbit instead.
  6. Shotty has it (IZ-107) Rifle doesn't (IZ-332)
  7. Glad I bought one when I had the chance... it's a nice rifle and the extra cost was worth it when converting later.
  8. I enjoy my 24" with poly-choke immensely. It seems to be accurate enough with the hobby clay I shoot. I have not used a 19".
  9. Is this what you need to keep the handguards from shifting around? Mine do a little but it's not that bad. I wasn't sure if the old clips worked with the newer stocks I was thinking about getting a pair. I don't know specifically, but when I installed hand guards without making shims/clips... they shifted a lot. I would imagine most clips will work with most hand guards. The clips should be easily manipulated to fit if too tight or too loose. Just don't over crank things because you might crack the guard you're torquing on.
  10. RTFO! My accountant hates you guys so much!
  11. I found that manually cycling my Saigas 400-500 times after a throrough initial cleaning may have helped break them in without spending money on ammo. Sure, my accountant didn't like all the racket, but it's better than wasting $$$ on ammo and the frustration of FTEs. I don't think you put near enough cycles through that weapon to "break it in."
  12. I am happy with the black laminate Timbersmith product I put on my IZ-332. I'm not a weekly shooter and it has held up well. My only gripe is the lack of hand guard retaining clips (which you can fab yourself VERY easily).
  13. I lost mine this weekend... the plunger "spring detent pin" and spring are gone, leaving me with only the plunger (brake detent pin). Other FSBs seem to use a two-piece detent rather than this three-piece.
  14. "I lost on Jeapardy... baby! Woooo oo ooo ooooo..." Congrats on finding your plug!
  15. IMHO: Keep that 24mm on if you can bear it. I've learned that picking battles has saved me a LOT of heartache.
  16. Mags came in... I filed the catch gently with small increments and am happy with results. My Saiga 5 rnd fits like a glove as do the AK mags. I used a long burr cutter then a mineral grinding cone and a hand file then a wire wheel to deburr and "polish."
  17. I converted mine. It's the same process as the IZ-132 or any other outside of removing the GB and FSB (which is a moot point). There doesn't seem to be room for 14mm threads under the FSB as it's flush with exterior of bbl. There are about 4-6 retailers I know of with the same price on the IZ-332. Google is your buddy. Mine took a flat BG. I'm sure they vary.
  18. Ah... That's the stuff! Good looking wood. My lower handguard (Timbersmith) has a touch of shift, but I'll shim it in time.
  19. How's the handguard fitting? Did you add any heatshields?
  20. Yes... a longer barrel allows a longer duration of back pressure for the gasses to channel into the gas tube and cycle the action. In order to get the same volume of gas to push the piston you'll need bigger (or more) ports to move as much gas in a smaller amount of time. I have a 24". I won't cut it. If I need a shorter barrel... I'll buy another shotty (IZ-109).
  21. Congrats, eastonmaxpro! Just wait until you put some high brass through...
  22. Haldir - that's interesting... pics of muzzle please?
