  1. Nothing wrong with making a brake for the .308 Saiga......but.....I wondered why you don't at least get the internal/external dimensions somewhat close to the Vortex (or Nil-flash) brake, if your going to call it Vortex style........? The Nil-Flash brake worked super well, the Vortex works pretty well......... If your going to go to all the trouble to machine brakes, why not get close such that the brake actually does what it should.....inherent in the design etc. The Vortex brakes are available from Brownells for 30 cal ......in the proper threads. It's what I have on my 7.62x39
  2. Here's a link to a petition against the assault weapons ban bill.......help get it spread around. thanks www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/409898348 Paul
  3. I got my Tromix Saiga 7.62x39 back from conversion today....nicely done.... ! But, can someone tell me exactly how the Galil (Tapco brand) front handguard gas tube cover is to be removed to access the gas tube (for cleaning etc.,). It looks like there are some type of cross pins, roundish looking clips or hooks inside the side holes or something similar, which secure the flat top portion of the Galil handguard for and aft through the top sides of the handguard, but.....not wanting to break them......how do you detach them or, unhook them or....? to lift the top cover out of the handgua
  4. From my experience a sixteen year old is going to enjoy just about what ever you are kind enough to provide for them to shoot. I know I did...... If they might hunt with it, the long barrel would be my choice. For general shooting it really doesn't matter. Pick your poison, go forth be happy and have a ball. You won't be wrong no matter which way you go...... So just buy what you want. Kids love to shoot. Paul
  5. BattleRifleG3 Thank you very much for the information. regards Paul
  6. I seem to remember reading something about the trunion and receiver strength of the Saiga, is similar to the Russian RPK., or at least the ROMAK version of the RPK.........but I could be confusing all this with the Vepr and Super Vepr trunion and receiver which I know IS heavy on the order of the RPK. S0oooo....... what's the relative strength of the Saiga trunion and receiver...by comparison ...Is it any different in the different models or pretty much the same across the board (.223, 7.62x39 and .308 Saiga versions) and do these differ much from the other variants? Is it heavier and mor

  8. I also like the 20 inch model....mine is very accurate and soft shooting. I have a number of regular AK's in short barrel but I am keeping my Saiga long barrel long. I am going to see if Tromix can do a RPK mod on the Saiga 20 for me. Paul
  9. I have used my AK for 3 gun on a number of occassions and it works just fine. Fast and accurate..... Had a ball. Paul
