  1. I have been using the VEPR12 brake from CSS on my Saiga-12. I threw it on there are first just to see if it actually works, and it does! Now you guys have me thinking of cutting the barrel shorter and welding the brake on there to keep it legal with the BATFE. I can dump a full mag with practically no muzzle rise with that brake.
  2. I used the US-made version of the VEPR-12 brake sold by Carolina Shooters Supply. I bought it mainly because it looks bad-ass. After using it I found that it actually works! I can rip-off five shots in a row with almost no muzzle rise. Prior to that, the gun would continue to rise with each shot. I can certainly feel the air blowing past my face now with that brake. ANyone standing to the side of me (like an RO) also gets to feel the concusion. Made the gun sound much louder.
  3. Fugly, yes, but living here in NJ, there is little-else we can legally do. I wanted to move the trigger group foward on my Saiga-12 like I did on my 7.62, but what to use for a stock? My finger actually gets tired from pulling it 30-40 times in a row doing Knockdown Steel, damn that trigger is nasty!
  4. I converted my Saiga 7.62 rifle, wasn't bad at-all. I wish I could do my Saiga-12, but we aren't allowed to in NJ.
  5. I watched several videos on rock-and-lock, but all of them have one thing in common, a pistol grip. We are not allowed pistol grips in the commie state of NJ. I have tried to figure-out a way to load a full mag (in our state that is a 5 rounder) on a closed-bolt but it is pretty difficult. I am thinking of getting the JTE magwell to try on my gun. I just hope I can use the mags I already own with it. I have to do a LOT of mag changes in a competition due to the 5-round limit and really need to find a way to do it quickly and mroe important reliably.
  6. You are right about not letting the bolt slam home. If I pull it all the way back and let it rip, it is fine. It never, ever hangs when firing it either. It only happens on a reload but does not happen if I let go of the bolt handle when I have it all the way back. No problems cycling at all. I can hold the gun in one hand and rip off all five shots. Yes, NJ, we are only allowed pussified five round mags. I figured if I made the action a little bit smoother then I would never have any issues. As a side-note, I was looking at the different magwell that Carolina Shooters Supply has
  7. Sometimes the bolt does not fully close. Sometimes it is easy to push it the last 1/2" or so, sometimes it needs a good whack! Doesn't matter if there is a shell in the chamber or not. I am trying to determine what is wrong with it. I flipped it upside down and can use a small screwdriver to push down on part of the bolt locking mechanism (for lack of a better term). One side goes down, the other side goes up. When I push down on the tab it closes immediately and it is very easy to push down. I have well over 1000 rounds through this gun so I would think it is well broken-in by now. I
  8. I have a similar situation going-on and a different thread about it. I would find a new shell in the chamber and another one trying to go in right behind it. I am certainly not limp-wristing it. The gun used to work fine for me, but lately it doesn't like me. My friend and I have been using it for knockdown steel and it runs just fine for him, but it is giving me a LOT of trouble! I don't think the bolt is closing all the way when I let go of it. Next time out I will ride it closed and see what happens.
  9. I cleaned this baby good! Had it apart 100%. I only shoot #7 1/2 through it (after breaking it in with 50 rounds of #00 with the gas setting on 1). I used it once for competition, it was perfect. The next two times, I had problems with it, my friend did not. We shot back to back. I shot first, then him in one event, then I made him go before me at the next event. It ran flawless for him, not for me. It is something I am doing. I found it odd that it did not eject the shell when I opened the action, that leads me to believe the action never fully closed. Extractor looks perfect. The
  10. I have the MD Arms gas plug in it, that is the only thing non-stock. I was playing around with it tonight, just pulling the bolt all the way back and letting it go. It did not always close 100%. (No ammo or magazines were in the gun). Next time I use the gun in competition I will push the bolt shut. It has to be the way I am handling the gun. I never had this issue in the past, but the last two competitions (knockdown steel) I had the same problem and my friend had no problems. He is a lefty, I am a righty. Neither of us could understand the problem. I hold the butstock against my
  11. Every once in awhile I will load a mag, let the bolt go forwards, go to fire and nodda. Open the bolt and there is a fresh round in the chamber, next round ready to come up. Now I can't close the bolt because of the round that wants to load. Gotta drop the mag and let the bolt go to fire the already loaded shell, or pull that shell out with my fingers (or bang the buttstock on the ground) and put another mag in and try again. My buddy and I have used this gun in competition and he NEVER has this issue, just me. I am almost ready to sell it to him, I am getting fed-up. Should I try to p
  12. I'm new to this board, and to Saiga-12 shotguns. The first time I took my gun out I was using my 7 1/2 trap shooting loads, well, that would not cycle the gun at all. I had to do it by hand. Found out that I should have turned the adjustment from #1 to #2. Someone also told me to run some buckshot through it first though on position #1 since it was a brand new gun. I did that. First shell sorta came-out, was just hanging there. Second shell ejected with no problem. Next 4 flew right out. Loaded the magazine and ran a total of 20 buck shot shells through it, perfect! I then tried the li
