  1. ^^^^^^ That right there is a good example of the argument that newer isn't always better.
  2. I ordered a custom barrel in 300WSM for my Savage from Black Hole Weaponry.I have one of their barrels on my 6.8 SPC AR that's a tack driver. Can't wait to see how the new one will do.
  3. This is one of the many reasons that I am glad that I moved out of the city into the country. Apparently there have been protesters in Minneapolis.
  4. What ever you do, don't subscribe to their emails. You'll end up with multiple AR's.
  5. 68forums is a wealth of knowledge about the cartridge. Unlike the 300, I can find factory ammo with ease, which is a real bonus. (Before anyone gets the impression that I'm bashing the 300, keep in mind that I'm thinking of building one.) It outperforms the 300 if you're shooting unsuppressed. (The 300 has the edge suppressed though) I got my deer last year with my 6.8. One shot DRT. Real soft shooter as well.
  6. Just signed up for the lifetime NRA membership. Couldn't pass it up since they have another one of the half price deals.
  7. I can't help but notice that you left out the 6.8 SPC. It's a great caliber for an AR15 that has real world uses such as hunting.
  8. I finished my .277 wolverine upper. Lots of parts there, and components to start load development on this new wildcat cartridge. Also got a Vortex Crossfire II 1X-4X with the Vbrite reticle.
  9. I'd like to see a 10 round.
  10. Both of my Cubs pull that trick off just fine. You're just going really SLOW doing it and the first cut isn't very good. I had a patch in my yard that had some grass (weeds if I'm honest) that were up to the headlights. These are 1970s tractors that don't have fancy sloped hoods, so I'm basically saying it was nearly up to the steering wheel. I've had some health problems combined with equipment problems (like I said.. 40 year old equipment) and didn't get out to mow for the first time until just over a week ago. It was TALL. That's exactly what I was going to say... Put some Ag tires on
  11. Just bought a Savage 10FCP with Choate stock in 300 WSM. Used, pretty sure unfired. A vortex viper PST 4x-16x. Still waiting on my scope mount from Midway. I'll try and post pics once it's all assembled. (No promises though as I'm using a tablet)
  12. While the 1.3 is not going to set your hair on fire with it's power, it's damn near indestructible. I got rid of one years ago and would buy another. Great little wheeler. Like a golf cart with four wheel drive.
  13. This is why most of us installed a retaining plate during conversion. Yep, the retaining plates are awesome. I have them in all of my AK rifles/shotguns. Makes it real easy to remove and re-install the trigger.
  14. The hammer pin is the pivot point for the bolt catch. If your hammer axis pin is sliding out of the reciever, your bolt catch will fall out. Like Big John said, the shepards hook is probably the cause.
  15. I've had my smith work on at least 5 different firearms (including assembling my M85 from a parts kit) and not once have I had to fill out a 4473 to pick up one of them. I have had to do so to pick up transfers I've had shipped receivers though.
  16. Adams arms makes piston uppers and conversion kits. If you happen to live near a Fleet Farm, the Huldra rifles are just rebranded Adams rifles and uppers. I've got an Adams conversion in 5.56 and a Huldra in 5.45x39. So far, I've got no complaints. They sure are easier to clean than a DI rifle.
  17. This is why I'm glad that my only 22 is a MKIII. If I want to plink, I grab my S5.45. I recently picked up a Huldra 5.45 upper so I can plink with an AR. I was going to build a 22 upper but the 5.45 makes more sense since I can get tins of the stuff any time I want. (And for much less per round than 22)
  18. Milwaukee 18v cordless. Brushless models if you have the cash. Dewalt doesn't even come close in terms of reliability.
  19. Getting out of the 6.8 already? Let me know if you`re interested in selling some smaller quantities or just the brass.
  20. I used a brush to apply it. (One of the little ones that are like really small q-tips. People use them for painting models.) It glows for a while. You'd never notice it during the day. As for how it holds up, my M85 is a 5.56 and hasn't seen too much use. Probably only has 100 rounds down the pipe. I can't really say much for durability. My other duracoat finishes have held up very well.
