  1. Thanks for the useless link. It doesn't say anything about LB, these were special issue kits, different from the IFAK issued to ground troops. These kits are better than the issue IFAK.
  2. Maybe my last post wasn't clear, or maybe you just don't care, but I AM DONE DISCUSSING THIS. All of you that love your E-tool stick to it and keep the smartass comments to your selves. I didn't know that we only talked about American made products. I gues I can't talk about my rifle anymore, damn. AMEN!
  3. Well, opinion's are like...... Oh, and by the way, I just buried a 60' cable line run with it. Why couldn't you dig a drip line? Might take longer, but only a dullard couldn't figure it out. "Oh, and by the way, I just buried a 60' cable line run with it. Why couldn't you dig a drip line? Might take longer, but only a dullard couldn't figure it out." "Work smart not hard!" comes to mind. Do it a thousand times and tell me how you like using the cold steel over a e-tool. It's a nice novelty shovel. You will regret drilling a lanyard hole into the handle. I have split several ha

  5. I never thought of using my e-tool for a grappling hook. GREAT IDEA! Thanks BpS12. I can shave my arm hair with it, pretty good for a shovel.
  6. All the US E-tools had wood handles up until the tri-fold. Never had one break, so that isn't an issue for me. Don't think I would ever throw this either. I could, just don't think I ever would. As far as a melee weapon, I think this shovel could take an arm off, try that with the dull E-tool blade. Once I had my hands on this, I knew the potential. On Deadliest Warrior, when they did Spetsnaz vs, Green Berets, if they had compared these two, the Spetsnaz would have won, hands down. This is also lighter than the US shovel, far more balance. I love US surplus, I own a surplus store, but if I ha

  8. Trench Hawk is awesome, I've had one for a while, right after they came out. The blade comes incredibly sharp, and holds an edge well. you won't be disapointed.

  10. Over the winter I was looking for a more versatile replacement for my US trifold shovel. I looked at many and decided to try the Cold Steel. I liked the fact it could be used as a shovel, machete, and a melee weapon. When I got it, I dug into a few 2x4's. I was impressed. I put some Mcnett multicam tape on the handle, added a lanyard. And put it on the shelf. Today I decided to get it out and see how it would do chopping up a brush pile in my yard. All I can say is if you don't have one, get one. This thing is awesome. For the money, it is one of the best tools I have ever bought. I chopped th
  11. Everything that is used on the lesser expensive is cheaper. That includes the thread. I worry about putting to much weight on them because the stich patterns are not as good. I have had webbing come lose, and I have had tears with extended use. Alot of times the stitch is not finished and will come lose as sonn as you put some weight on it. Zippers are also an issue. I replace all of my buckles with ITW Nexus, and try to reinforce the webbing whenever possible on items. The items that are made in Multicam will be a little better quality because the are using the heavier fabric. Just keep in m
  12. Right, most kits have an 18ga needle with them. But you have to know how to use it. I've watched countless hours of videos and had several courses on trauma medicine. Having the cathether does you no good if you don't know where to put it. When you get your items, invest in the knowledge you will need to implement it. The best thing is to avoid being wounded. The chances of surviving anything but an extremity wound is slim. If you have a chest or abdominal wound that goes untreated, your risk of infection, internal bleeding, blood clots, among other things will take you out. Trauma kits are me
  13. I have three seperate pouches. A small pouch I keep bandages, pills, and things that I might need not in an emergency. It is small and can fit in my coat pocket. I then have a blowout pouch, with quikclot gauze, a 4" dressing, scissors, and a CAT torniquet. I then have a trauma kit, I use a Blackhawk drop leg, or a Condor tear away EMT pouch. It will be used to treat battle injuries, and should be well thought out as your life depends on it. Kepp in mind your situation, if you go out alone and will be operating that way, you might want to carry a little more. If you are part of a larger group
  14. With TCCC, your last concern is absorbing blood rather stopping bleeding with a gunshot wound. On appendages, tourniquet first! On chest cavity, Asherman chest seal, decompress with big fucking needle so victim can breathe. You are not stopping any severe bleeding from a traumatic wound with a Kotex. That is what this kit is intended to do. Agree. The problem I have with most kits, and this one, is that they usually don't provide for an exit wound. That's why i always make my own kits. This is one of the best you can buy pre-made, but I would still add some stuff.
