  1. I grew up in Syracuse, really sad to see something like that happen there. It's also sad that laws crafted by the NYC folks prevent the rest of the state from protecting themselves. Should just take NYC and New Jersey and make them their own little People's Republic and let the rest of New York State go about its business. I have a lot of fond memories of Syracuse but I'd never consider moving back to New York state due to the politicians that have taken over. I could deal with the terrible winter weather, but high taxes and no guns? I think I'll pass.
  2. I ordered one of these last night, got shipment notification today. They're quick at getting their orders out at least. We'll see how nice the gun is in a few days when it gets here. It'll get one trip to the range for a function check, then it's tax stamp time if things go as planned.
  3. The Freedom of Information Act is a good thing on the whole, but cases like this give it a bad name. If you look at what types of information are exempt from FOIA requests, the gun owner data should never have been released: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_of_Information_Act_%28United_States%29 "clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy." is the phrase used, I think this would qualify as a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy. The New York state law is a little different: http://www.dos.ny.gov/coog/foil2.html The New York version has provisions to not release dat
  4. Nice collection. For $1800 you could get quite a few things, I'd get a Ruger 10/22 and an SKS of some variety. Both of them are great guns for what they cost. .22lr will probably remain somewhat cheap even if we get a ban, and the SKS would share ammo with the AK so if you're already stocked up on that front you're all set. The SKS also doesn't need a detachable magazine so if we get a really over the top ban the SKS stands a better chance of still being kosher. Take the bayonet off and it looks like a "sporting rifle" (whatever that means). You could get both of those and have plenty left
  5. I'm sure they'll try, 1st amendment just means the government can't stop you from speaking. It doesn't mean the people you slander publicly can't sue your pants off for doing it. Not only did they ruin Zimmerman's reputation (Christ, he had to go into hiding for a while because of what they did) they also pretty much ruined any chance he had at getting a fair trial. NBC's lawyers have their work cut out for them. I agree with GunFun, they will likely settle.
  6. This is why 0-tolerance policies are rarely the right answer to any problem. I can somewhat understand the policy, but things like this need to be handled on a case by case basis instead of just saying gun = find a new job. I get the feeling the policy is to discourage employees from bringing guns into work and potentially disturbing customers or coworkers, and potentially to guard them against lawsuits should someone bring a gun to work and do something stupid. This guy didn't even bring the gun into work, he left it in his car and only went to get his gun when it was a totally reasonable
  7. I have a TAKD adapter w/ a bullet guide installed. Before the bullet guide I'd occasionally have the same problem with rounds not coming in high enough. When I did my reading before buying the adapter I think I remember Texas AK designs saying it varies from gun to gun, some need the bullet guide with the adapter and some dont (perhaps he will chime in and clarify). Not sure if this applies with the Renegade Buck adapter or not. I did have to file a little bit off of the adapter after I installed the bullet guide to get the adapter to seat correctly. The .223 bullet guide I got from CSS si

    223 mags?

When I ordered my TAKD adapter ~6 months ago, the website said it had a 1-2 week production time. I had it in my hands ~2 weeks after I ordered it so it was right. Great product, I've got no complaints about it.
  9. My Saiga .223 (09 production) doesn't have this, however my new VEPR-12 does. Kind of a pain in the ass honestly, I'd rather not have the button there.
  10. Sorry bout that, the pick with the sight leaf shows the serial on top of the bolt carrier but it's pretty blurry. Serial is 46927.
  11. So I picked up a Chinese SKS this past weekend. There's a gun show next weekend and I had decided I was gonna get an SKS if the prices were right but I didn't like my odds with it being the first show around here since the election. I was perusing a local guns classified website this weekend and saw someone had put a Chinese SKS up for $300 near me, all numbers matching and it came with 100 rounds of Wolf ammo. After looking at some pictures I figured I'd jump on it as that was a pretty reasonable price compared to the last few gun shows I've been to. I'm glad I did, this thing seems to be
  12. Same here, went to wally-world tonight to get some slugs, the ammo case was full and prices were the same as always. Also just ordered some 9mm online, same prices I paid last time I ordered a few months ago so the prices haven't gone up yet (at least at these places). I've been pondering getting a vepr in 7.62x39, I might decide to do that sooner rather than later.
  13. Look right beneath the chamber at the trunnion, it will either be curved or flat. Once you figure out whether it is curved or flat you order the right bullet guide: Curved: http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-1120/Saiga-223-Bullet-Guide/Detail Flat: http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-1225/Saiga-AK47-223-556/Detail CSS even has pictures to help you figure out which one you have. Those links are for the kits, comes with the bullet guide, drill bit & tap. If you already have the bit & tap you can get just the guide from them. Not sure if you've
  14. I've got a BP-02 mount for my saiga .223. Holds zero when removing it and putting it back on. The quick release lever does loosen up a bit after several range trips, only takes a few minutes to adjust it and get it tight again though. The rest of the mount is built like a tank, it's a bit heavy as a result but you'd never manage to break the thing unless you really, really tried to.
  15. Maybe, I'm not sure. The rest of the shotgun is imported, so you could make the argument you're assembling a shotgun from imported parts. This might be another one of those situations where no one can be sure until someone from BATFE writes a letter about it and even then it's just one agent's opinion.
  16. I've got a Chaos quad-rail on my S223: It is the one marketed for the 7.62 Saiga. Didn't have any problems getting it installed. My dumb ass didn't loctite some of the screws in like the instructions said, lost a few screws on the first trip to the range as a result. Put some new ones in and used loctite this time, haven't had any issues since. Great product Cameron.
  17. I'd definitely be interested. I've been thinking of doing a Draco/PAP M92 SBR. I like the triangle side folder, however getting one installed on either of those guns is a pain in the ass. Would be much easier with the ACE setup.
  18. Let me preface this by saying I am not a lawyer nor do I work for BATFE, nothing I'm about to say has any legal bearing. I'm merely someone who has a VEPR-12 on preorder and did some reading about 922r to try to figure this out. It's clear as mud like most things BATFE rules about. I spent some time reading the revised study yesterday, full version is here: http://www.atf.gov/publications/firearms/012611-study-on-importality-of-certain-shotguns.pdf The relevant part concerning what causes a shotgun to be banned from import is this: (1) Folding, telescoping, or collapsible stocks; (2)
  19. Just pre-ordered mine through Atlantic as well. And now the wait begins...
