What the title says From what I'm reading Mike is working full time now and doesn't have a lot of time for stuff like this, if I can get one from him I'd dig that but I also don't want to bother him at the same time, so if anyone has a spare hit me up.

Misc AK/SKS/Mosin items & optics

I'll take the galil mags. -
Yeah, my previous one needed the mag latch mod, the mag tab was surprisingly thin and the catch was too long to lock my Tapco galils. This one, no such requirement. No complaints.

The pin is any a couple thou bigger at the end that normally has a head. The pin is ~0.175-0.177" except for that step at the end where it's ~0.159-0.160". Haven't seen one like that before. Not really a bad idea though.

I'll put some up tonight after work.

Just so you know, the .223 Saiga is actually a 5.56x45. It's the civilian version of the AK101. Izhmash marked them .223 because of goofy Russian gun laws around military rounds. This was confirmed by RAAC in the early days also it's in the stickies. Also the Tapco and SGMs are generally good enough for me.

Just curious if anyone else has had this experience with newer Saigas. This is the second Saiga .223 I've converted. The first one had uniform diameter trigger and trigger bar pin/rivets and needed the mag catch filed to take anything but proprietary mags. My new one is a May 2014 build. The rivets are smaller (0.175" instead of closer to 3/16") and have a shoulder at the expansion point (0.160"). There isn't a head on the left side of the rivet like my first Saiga. Also, the mag catch is apparently already milspec. It looked like my factory mag had a thicker than usual tab so I tried locking

If I had a lathe I'd just make an adapter to M24. It's like the CNCWarrior ones but a larger thread. The OD of my protector is ~.7", could probably cleanly thread it to M18 as long as the threads aren't too deep. Just realized I seriously resurrected a thread. More proof I guess that it's been a while since I've been on the forum.

Stupid question time! Really only relevant to people who have this rail (or one of the clones)... I'm in the process of fabbing a custom bullpup rig for my Vepr 7.62x39, and the UTG S-12 quadrail has a long enough rail to meet my needs if I turn it backwards so it reaches forwards instead of back along the receiver... Does anyone who has one know if this quadrail will clamp down enough to fit a Vepr? I don't care if I have to make minor modifications to fit, I've been doing that with other stuff already... Thanks in advance guys!

Hmm, maybe it would have made more sense to ask this in the Saiga-12 category... that's where I meant to put it. I'm totally awake this morning /s

More or less what the title says. I'm thinking about fabbing my own custom bullpup kit for my Vepr, but I'd like a set of irons for it and I kind of like the extensions that come with the AKU94. If anyone has a set of them laying around that they aren't using I'd be interested in throwing you a little cash for them... failing that I'd be interested in the AKU kit if anyone has an extra one of them either. Seems they're getting harder to find so I'm not holding my breath. Thanks all!

Midwest AK-SS modified to fit Vepr
devilfish13 replied to devilfish13's topic in Vepr Rifle Conversions
A pic of the mods? I'd have to take it all back apart to get at it, but next time I clean my rifle (REAL cleaning, not just boresnake), I'll put one up. -

I live in Michigan... I'll have to measure, but if I'm not mistaken, a sidefolder would make this into a pistol... and that whole legal hoopla is a bit muddled for me to feel like wading into... I'd settle for a good skeleton stock, even if it didn't fold. Best bet for what I want would be one of the Bonesteel folders... but $$$... -
Title says it all. Had to take ~25 thou off each side (overkill) and ~30 thou off the top bracket, but it fits now, nice and snug. If you have a MI handguard laying around and access to a vertical mill, this is no sweat. My Vepr is now 922r compliant, between the FCG, flash hider, and handguard. Woo!
