I've got this nice little polychoke sitting on my bench right now, just waiting to be installed, but this darned thread protector is driving me crazy. It was a used gun. It came with a couple of chokes, and they came dirty, so I know the thread protector must have been off at some point.
I don't have a proper barrel vise, but I've clamped it in a regular vise with wooden slats at the barrel, and at the gas block.
I've tried heat for locktite.
I've tried penetrating oil for rust.
It's soaking in CLP right now in case it's just absurdly fouled in there.
