I didn't eat that one; I got him late at night and didn't get around to skinning him till morning. We fed him to my buddy's "pet" alligator that lives in one of their ponds. I've never seen de-boned one personally, I've always seen them grilled spine and all. I'll probably get another chance to go down there this summer, and I'll try to cook the next one.

I got to hunt coyotes and hogs last week in south TX, but this big guy was taking up the road our first night out. I got a second one that wasn't as bad for my blood pressure, but was still pretty big. The saiga ran flawlessly the entire trip, but I've been thinking of a side-folding stock to make getting out of vehicles with it easier. I really like it how it is, though. I still haven't decided on moving to an auto-plug from the v-plug that is in it right now. Hell, I really want to get another one.

I'll take the SGM forend. -
Until now, I had lied to myself and thought I had as much into my s12 as those benellis in my avatar. I started adding things up, and I actually have more into it than what I paid for both of them together... Including mags, around $1500 in the Saiga 12 around 500in my new 410 Worth every penny! I still plan on getting an AR style forend from CSS, red dot and mount for when I start shooting 3gun. I've been thinking more and more about cutting off the tang and putting on an ACE stock on it, just like my comp AR. I've only shot about 5 rounds out of the 410, but it was damn fun. I hope

The JT magwell has quite a bit of mass, and is pretty large. I reinstalled the factory mag release earlier and it seats SGM mags very positively compared to the extended mag release. I'll throw the JT back in tomorrow and double check the magazine fit. I was wondering the same thing about a heavier duty spring, but I haven't seen one around. I did the extended release when I did my 922r conversion, before I'd even fired it. I noticed you had the Ram mag release, rangerguy. It's a little different profile than the JT, which already has that relief cut in it. kind of wish I did have the ambi

I finally got to really test out my S12 hunting in South TX, and my mags kept dropping whenever I pulled it really tight into my shoulder. This happened with an AGP, SGM 8, and factory 5 rounder. I've run 600 rounds or so through it at the range, and it has never done this before. This only happens when I pull the S12 really tight to my shoulder, if I let the recoil move my body more it will not drop mags. I have the jt extended mag release in, and I'm thinking there is not enough spring pressure with the factory mag release spring to keep it in place during recoil. I'll swap the factory ma

I have about 10 sets of those warne maxima sets in use at the moment, and none have ever lost zero or given me any trouble (that includes a 45-70 T/C hand cannon). Those suckers are bullet proof, all steel, and would be my first choice of the three you mentioned. You can't beat the price, even if they add a little more weight compared to the aluminum versions. If you shop around a little you can find pretty good deals on them... midway ended their sale, but a set I picked up last month was something like $26.

Thanks guys. Marshall, I didn't think the primary reflex was rated for slide use on a glock, but what about a SJC mount that mounts to the frame? edited to add: I originally wanted to pick up a couple primary reflexes (one for the saiga and one for a glock) to keep some consistency.

I've been considering putting a primary arms reflex on a cheap side mount and shooting my s12 in multi-gun. Has anyone here tried one on the s-12? I was considering a reflex for the unobstructed view that I believe I would be more comfortable with on a shotgun. I would purchase a fastfire, but got a little carried away on an AR build and need to keep the cost down, if possible. Since I've never really introduced myself on this forum, here's a little about myself: I have way too many hobbies, but I'm most passionate about shooting sports. I reload, hunt, bowfish, and even made it to the pho

Nikon M-223 1-4x20 Point Blank scope
rexican replied to SgtRaven's topic in Saiga / AK Optics & Sights
The bushnell could still be a good choice, depending on what you're going to use it for. It has that larger objective, and could be better if you're going to be shooting a lot in low light. I haven't been able to play with a bushnell outside of a well-lit store. There are lots of good 1-4X scopes out there, and it may be good to try as many as you can before you buy. The size, weight, and reticle all come down to personal preference (and my friends will be the first ones to tell you that I'm a very particular a-hole). Heck, I was looking for a Burris Tac-30 before I found this deal. The M -
Nikon M-223 1-4x20 Point Blank scope

I agree with sickness about co-witnessing. I picked up the BDC version on another forum because it was a steal ($170 with Nikon mount). I put it on a 20" AR before my replacement gas block got here, and it was right in line with the front sight post. At 4X, the post could not even be seen, but at 1X it just took up the sight picture. If you barely shift your cheek weld or move laterally, the crosshairs move with your eyes, but the FSB stays put. At 1x, depending on how you are lined up on the scope, the front sight could be well to the left or right of the scope's crosshairs. As far as the g -
+1 Another smooth transaction here, and I wouldn't hesitate to do business with him again. Thanks. Rex

If you're only wanting to spring for the $65 fixed power scope, yes a nikon would be a pretty decent choice. You could do much worse. If you're gonna spend more than $100, you might want to hold out for a used scope that is not refurbished that you can send back in case of catastrophic failure. My nitpicks about the eye relief are personal opinion: it's about 3.5" at 3x, and I thought it best to put it on a low-recoiling rifle. In my sleep deprived state I never even asked you what you planned to put it on, and if I need to elaborate on anything just let me know. I gave it a shot, but for
