  1. No, I definitely didn't know it was going to be removed. Whenever I talked to them about specifics, such as how old the guns are, number of gasports etc., they didn't have any details.
  2. Hello all, I finally received my S12. It still has the stock forearm, which seems ok. But I definitely want to make it more "AK". Have any of you tried this Arsenal handguard? It looks pretty cool, but just wondering if any of you have tried it? http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-649/KVAR-SAIGA-12-HAND/Detail Thanks, Brad
  3. OK, I did receive my shotgun today. It was imported by Legion, inspected May, 2011. The outfit they used to do the conversion did a pretty rushed job. Where the trigger plate was relocated, they didn't really prep the area before painting. Also, the new trigger guard is light gray, and doesn't match the rest of the gun. The pistol grip is on a little crooked, but I'll try to straighten that later. (May just be torqued down at an angle?) The Tapco trigger feels nice. They deleted the BHO. (Is that something I want, or do most folks take them off?) The safety lever is DEFINITELY getting
  4. OK folks, some good news to report. They charged my Visa 3 weeks ago, but now my order has shipped and I'll hopefully have it tomorrow. I'll give a review concerning the workmanship of the conversion when I get her.
  5. Soooo, where are the good deals?
  6. It's now been 3 weeks...still nothing. Lame...
  7. So I read about some folks having bad experiences with Classic Arms. But I really wanted a Saiga 12, and their price for the converted gun is too good to pass up. So I call them up. They say yes, the guns are in stock, ready to go. I submit my order about 3 minutes later. (I'd already had my FFL fax his license.) I call about 5 minutes later to verify they received the order. "Yes sir, we got it. It will go out tomorrow." So, after a week, I still haven't gotten any shipping notification. So I just got off the phone with them. The girl on the phone says they've been out of stock, an
  8. The prices went up not because of Sons of Guns. There was pending legislation which would have stopped the import of these dastardly firearms. When it appeared the supply was about to stop, prices skyrocketed. Now that common sense has prevailed, and the Saigas are going to continue their merry journey to the US, prices should go back down. (And they've already started somewhat....)
  9. I agree. The trigger in my MAK feels much better than the AMD. I must admit, the AMD is kinda fun. But the quality isn't even in the same ballpark as the Norinco.
  10. Thanks, Arik. The serial number starts with 94, so it appears my rifle just squeaked through before imports stopped. I think just to be safe, I should add the US parts. I'd assume the cost of a Tapco trigger, and new furniture would be less than the fine, or confiscation of the weapon. (Plus, I really enjoy tinkering with my firearms.) Thanks, Brad
  11. Hello all, I've recently decided to get a Saiga 12 gauge, and found this forum looking for information. I don't have any Saigas yet, but I do have a MAK 90 and an AMD-65, so I'm not totally unfamiliar with the AK platform. Having said that... I bought my MAK90 before imports were cut off in 94. I immediately replaced the stocks with traditional wood AK furniture and added a muzzle break. To my knowledge, this was before the 922r compliance issues. It's a pretty nice AK, and I've really enjoyed it. But I'm wondering if I now need to worry about compliance, or if it's old enough t
