  1. Being in NY all my Pre ban 30rd AK mags are now useless. I bought a few tapco 10 rd AK mags to hold me over till i leave this state. Problem is the fitment is tight. Like takes some effort to get them in and out. The Mag can stay in the magwell when it is not even locked in. Is there a correct way to fix this? i was thinking dremel off some material on the mag. Would rather mod the mag then the magwell if i can avoid it.I had this problem with a few 30rd steel mags but the general opinion was to mod the mag with a dremel.Just not sure if i can do that with the plastic/polymer mags.
  2. 100 yards. Red dot sight off a bi pod.
  3. Its not the locking thats the problem. I filed the mag catch to accept every ak mag i have ever tried. The proble is the actual width of a few of the mags i have is way to tight. Doesn't matter now. Craphole NYS there now illegal so not gonna waste my time trying to do anything with them.
  4. I knew what you meant. Would rather mod the $15 mag then the the actual rifle itself.Just Haven't gotten around to doing it yet
  5. OK ill give that a try. Thanks
  6. side to side they are to thick and can't get them to seat properly. They are unloaded if it matters.
  7. I have a few AK 30 rd mags that just dont fit in the magwell of my saiga. The other 30 or so fit with no issues. The few of them seem to fat to fit right. Is there anything i can do to modify the mag to get it to fit?
  8. More then 7k through my converted 7.62. I've cleaned it maybe 3 times. Last time i "cleaned" it was at the range. Took the dust cover off and sprayed some oil on the everything. Usually go at least 450rds (15 30rd ak mags) normal range session. Only thing i guess i could say broke was my front handguard melted shooting 700 rounds in less then 2 hrs on a 90deg day.
  9. Good luck finding one. All the mounts i have seen sacrifice your cheek weld on the stock and turns it into your chin resting on it. I opted for a quick release side mount with a red dot. Have Another mount with a scope on it. Never any issues holding zero after 6-7k rounds. Taken on and off hundreds of times.
  10. I cut back a total of 5/8 off the shroud. Loosened the screw on the die and seems to have fixed the threads that i messed up in the very beginning. Went ahead and threaded the rest of the barrel and now the brake screws on and off with absolutely no issues and sits perfectly straight. Thanks for the help everyone. Now to try and get to the range to see how well it performs.
  11. With the AK74 brake i should be cutting the shroud all the way back to the front sight post correct?
  12. Ok thanks guys i appreciate the help. Ill give it a try and report back hopefully successful.
  13. Best pic i can get of it. Still have more of the shroud to take off but need to buy a different pipe cutter as mine is to thick and the front sight gets in the way.
  14. Was my first time ever attempting something like this. I did the trigger conversion myself and 4k rounds later no issues. I cut the shroud off and threaded the barrel to 14x1LH. attacthed my 74 style brake and realized i needed to cut more of the shroud off and thread the barrel more. Heres where i messed up. Put the thread tool on and as i was spinning it down to cut more threads I messed up the threads i had already cut and now my muzzle brake only goes 2-3 turns down. What are my options since my current threads are messed up?
  15. Anyone have the barrel threading kit they can lend out? Really don't want to spend the $60 on something im only going to use once.I'll gladly throw a few bucks your way
