  1. Not exactly the pressure has the wad blowing the shot apart when exiting shorter barrels. That's why standard buck spreads more out of the short barrel. The flight control wads function differently Like I said the pressure is still too high below 12in for that wad. The drag stabilization is gone because the whole back of the wad blows off.
  2. I went and got a new one. I just upgraded the saiga is ok but no magwell or LRBHO. It got sold
  3. Shoot one and find the wad. Take a picture of the back of it. I'll go shoot my 12in and the back of the wad won't be blown off. I see now you shortened the gas system, the ports are farther back. Cutting it to 12 it will barely run Winchester 9 pellet which is the lowest power high brass. Hornady 8 pellet runs when win 9 won't. Factory port size but further back has higher gas port pressure. It still only runs one or the other. If you drill it large enough to run low brass like I said it won't run 3in I've seen people cutting down the action spring as well which I won't do.
  4. You'll have to buy KS-12 shotguns from Kalashnikov USA. It's only the saiga configuration. The Chinese version was garbage from what I saw fury. We will see the reviews.
  5. There won't be any more molot went into bankruptcy and is in liquidation auctioning off. The same as izhmash years ago. The sanctions won't be lifted anyway because Ukraine and election meddling.
  6. I've owned and used everything from 8in up to 28in. It's just experience with the barrel lengths. I've had 8 11.5 12 14 18 19 and up. Same thing with the saigas. ive seen conversions with trigger slap, bolt slamming into the rear trunnion, excessive recoil. Then I've seen ones set up to run high brass only that shoot with little to no recoil. I know what the pressure will do, chamber pressure being the highest and dropping with barrel length. What I've said is true. My shotgun is a second gun because I need a door breacher but I expect some range with it. It still has to be useful
  7. It's not bad but can it run a 3in magnum such as 00 15 pellet? I'm guessing it'll have excessive recoil from the bolt slamming into the rear trunnion and self destruct. It may have some trigger slap. You made the gas ports large enough to run low brass so that's pretty much guaranteed. The problem with barrels that short is the pressure is too high and blows the fingers off the back of the flight control wads. It sort of just goes wherever. The standard buckshot spreads so much it has no range. The barrel has to be 11.5-12in to use those versatite/flight control wads which will give it 100
  8. this is why I buy the factory ones. It should work straight out of the box. If it doesn't it's a crap aftermarket magazine which doesn't work on par with promag. you shouldn't have to file them to fit, "tune" and screw with it until it works. Test fire everything repeatedly to determine which ones work and which don't. You may as well save yourself time and money... go buy factory magazines. Here's the million dollar question did anyone ever think to call molot or izhmash and have a mould shipped? Seriously if you can't find a tool and die maker capable order one. I would just li
  9. Yeah I would agree it's not as big of a deal at a competition. It's a combat shotgun. it's being marketed for law enforcement, contractors, and military. That won't fly or pass anyone's testing. it can be fixed but shouldn't need to be on an $80 factory magazine.
  10. I forgot the transfer fees $100 ish for an NFA dealer on the other end. you'll practically have to give it away to transfer it as an NFA weapon. I'd get the $200 refund if it wasn't built yet and put an SB tactical brace on it.
  11. I would've shot the dog anyway... you don't get another stamp. I have to second fuck the NFA because I move around so much the paperwork is a horrendous pain in the ass. If you go to sell anything prepare to pay $400 in taxes F4 to dealer F4 to the person. You'll lose money on everything but machineguns. I'll go around it where possible but the shotguns need SBS.
  12. Shipping tape. taped up folded cardboard spacer.
  13. I think it's more trying to convince people to replace saiga they already dumped money into.
  14. Yep I wasn't very impressed.
  15. You can buy one for $700 right now or even 675.00 Gunsmith specials, returned guns to fix up. One is just a loose stock. https://www.classicfirearms.com/vepr12gashotgun I am not affiliated with this company in any way just passing it along.
  16. Try dropping a loaded vepr magazine and let me know what your results are. I did it on accident with a 10rd Factory mag.
  17. I switched to doctor optics, removed the rear sight to mount it. Its faster than irons for buckshot.
  18. wallmart had federal game loads for $4.60 25rd box or 250rd case for $46 last time i checked. I guess i would question the safety of making these into slugs though because all slugs are highbrass. sure if the payload is the same it "should" be safe but I've never seen a low brass slug.
  19. The KSG12 or UTS15 would honestly be a better option for the HD guys. I know you all love the saiga but a compact 26in-28in pump is better than a saiga 31in folded stock or 36in with collapsed M4 stock.
  20. for HD this is a big gun unless you SBS it. I'd probably go with something else unless you have a SBS. The factory mags are what i'd use because it has to be bet your life on it reliable. store it loaded with an 8rd in the gun + 1. ETA the gun should hold enough ammo you dont need to worry about carrying extra mags in your underwear.
  21. your safety should go under the top cover not over it. you probably should have bent it out a little not in. heres a photo Yes the safety can keep rotating upward without the top cover. The top cover stops it.
  22. i plan on it, 12in no shorter. as long as it shoots hornady TAP buckshot i wont do anything to it. gas ports are easy to tinker with.
  23. this is still an issue... heres the way to remove the sight without damage to your gun. Take a hacksaw, cut most of the way through the sight (left to right) then tap it out. it wont take much to push it out of the dove tail. If your going to beat the piss out of it, you may as well ruin the part and not the gun.
  24. ya right... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYeQN2P88p8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTeMU61qKGY
  25. the disassembly of the MKA 1919 makes it lose IMHO. You can work on a saiga to overcome problems it has.
