  1. that is fucked up. I would rather shoot the animal than this, or the antifreeze solution. the animals are just doing what they do. no need to suffer for it - a headshot is not suffering though.
  2. I have been really pleased with my Palmetto State stuff. Built a complete rifle from them when they had a blemish sale on the FN-barreled mid length uppers. Could never find the blemishes on either the upper or lower. The rifle has run 100% from day one on steel cased ammo, even runs on it dry with no issues, but obviously I don't prefer to do that. I will probably be building an A4 clone from them next year, hopefully by then nitride 4150 20" A4 uppers will be available.
  3. ^^^ It's a troll site. No psy-ops, just being trolls. From the about section:
  4. 155 comments on the second article and nobody seems to realize it's a fake news site
  5. The steam trick is worth a shot, but doesn't always lift out every scratch. Rubbing linseed oil into the scratch for a few days will get it to blend in with the surrounding oil finish. Honestly.. It's going to get more scratches like this if you use it. Best to stop fretting over it.
  6. The number of times lately I have had to explain the difference between a modern semi and a "full-auto ghost gun assault weapon" has been astonishing. The fact several of the people I have had to do it to that were fellow gun owners is the most insane part to me. People with a Glock or Sig handgun spouting off how we don't need these semi-auto rifles capable of 600 rounds a minute....... This happened with my wife's grandmother.. She was watching some TV news during the national debate over a new AWB after Sandy Hook. She said to me, "I don't know why anyone needs to have one of those
  7. I'm going to snag one when it comes out and see if it runs reliably with 5.56. The follower design they're using looks almost identical to the 5.56 follower in the Beryl. If nothing else they may accept Pmag followers.
  8. Vityaz mags look VERY close to MP5 mags, I would not be surprised if MP5 mags can be modified to fit.
  9. Just saw this post on Truth About Guns. At SHOT show, Kalashnikov USA unveiled a prototype modernized AK, as well as what appears to be a genuine US-made Vityaz. So either they managed to import some of the Saiga-9 sporters that were produced by Izhmash before EO, or they really do have Russian spec blueprints & tooling to produce these. http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2016/01/foghorn/new-from-kalashnikov-alfa-rifle-american-9mm-ak
  10. As long as I'm not buying from any obvious outright criminals, look I can only be so selective here. I still buy a ton of Russian ammo, even though I don't agree with everything Russia does. I'm sure are plenty of guys who would not touch Russian ammo for that reason. I have thought about purchasing one of the Turkish pistols, but there are still a lot of good deals on used pistols out there. I get no say in the matter as far as the most egregious monetary support to criminals go.
  11. Policy towards Russia is not a problem.. Many of us may not agree with all Putin does, but I like Russian people still. No hard feelings. Personally I have more respect for Putin than I have for Obama, even though I do not agree with Putin on the Ukraine issue.. I was glad to see Russia go into Syria. The amount of users on this forum has been decreasing ever since Saiga imports to the US were banned - possibly forever - as sanctions in response to the Ukraine war. Saigas are now fairly expensive, and here in the US we have many other options for AKs.. Serbian AKs are very popular right no
  12. Look, if Lara Logan could be basically gang raped while covering the Arab spring in Egypt, and the media swept that under the rug, the whole rape angle is never going to get any traction in the media. One of their own was a victim and they pretended like it never even happened.
  13. Finished riveting and pinned the RSB, then took out to test. FSB still needs adjustment. Thought I may need to go up to a larger gas port size (I used 1/16" bit which is .0625" but I figure using a hand drill it ended up closer to .065-.067") but it chewed up & spat out everything with no issues, and was much smoother/gentler than the Saiga .223, which is way overgassed IMO. No problems with either WPA .223 or Prvi M193, threw cases out to 20ft or so with either. No ejection problems with 5.45 extractor or bolt.
  14. I hear ISIS got a bunch of our armored vehicles and weapons by using a fake government to purchase them, then beating him up and taking them from him. Some we even gave to them. Let the little guy take it in the ass, though. Only little people are required to follow the rules.
  15. Don't worry I heard Trump is going to eliminate the NFA LOL
  16. This is a pretty common issue with red dots and astigmatism, where the dot appears like a scattered star at "normal" mounting locations. Do what you need to do, but you might also consider using a flip-out magnifier with your dot. I don't have eye problems yet, but I understand that the magnifier can eliminate the dot scattering, with the benefit of getting some low power magnification - most are 3x. The tradeoff would be that if you have to flip the magnifier off, you will get the scattered dot again. Personally I think 3x is a good power level for all around shooting at any range, and
  17. Yeah the Colorado diesel looks awesome, the price tag does not. Last time I looked the price estimates on a crew cab diesel Colorado were near $40k. Jeep has been throwing the pickup concept around for years. A JKU with the cargo area eliminated and a bed stretched an extra 1-2ft would be pretty cool, but given the light gauge steel the JK tub is stamped from, and the multi-link coil suspension, it isn't going to have that much of a weight capacity vs. a leaf-sprung truck. They do make the leaf-sprung JK for export/military contracts.. I believe Israel and Egypt have purchased them. Th
  18. I believe it's actually an abandoned bird sanctuary. Bunch of goddamn operators we're dealing with here. either way it's pretty much what I expected it to be, just a typical western US park service building that likely is completely empty and unused for half the year. Some of the suction dredging rigs I've seen in use here in WA can really screw up rivers. I've seen guys dumping buckets of sediment right back into the river rather than depositing it on the shore. That sort of method can totally destroy fish spawning grounds.
  19. If the big 3 would build an actual quality small/mid size pickup that met the requirements I want, I wouldn't be having this discussion. Ford refused to build the 4-dr crew cab Ranger, thinking that it would kill F-150 sales. I like the Explorer Sport Trac, but the later model years switched to an IRS with poor ground clearance, and the 4.0 SOHC is known for developing timing chain tensioner issues. I like the Colorado, but it's underpowered (no I6, only I5), and not interested in going back in time to the S-10, which is fairly hard to find in the 4-dr layout any how. I have to be hone
  20. HB of CJ I am a firm believer that a young driver should have an older vehicle that they have to work on every now and then. Maybe less so for daughters, unless she is exceptionally mechanically inclined vs. the average teen girl, but still along the same lines. When I burned up my first clutch on my old Bronco II, I had so few tools that I ended up bench pressing the transmission out and back in on dad's garage floor. I didn't even buy a new clutch, just bought a lightly used disc & pressure plate set from a friend, and sanded the flywheel. OTOH I'm at a point in my life where I reall
  21. No offense but this is exactly NOT what I'm looking for. I used to wheel a lot and wrench on older trucks, I still enjoy it, but I'm looking for a newer small/mid size crew cab as a DD. It must have LATCH points for child seats. It must be startable and drivable by my wife, who isn't a car person. It also needs to not be so old as to be embarrassing when I pick up clients at a job site. I don't really enjoy driving my Wrangler any longer, and it's worth more than most of the 05+ trucks in this category, so I'm pretty much guaranteed a straight trade on it. It would be nice to be able to ke
  22. "Seized a federal building" meaning most likely a public bathroom and a small garage/equipment shelter.
  23. This is going to be a DD truck that stays reasonably stock and will be occasionally driven by my wife.. So such a project does not fit the bill. Besides my project will most likely end up being a Cherokee or Explorer as a trail rig, but again one that my wife can drive i.e. auto. Wife can't drive a stick worth a shit. I am selling off my old Explorer sport mild trail rig to my MIL in Montana, almost entirely because the wife can't drive it.
  24. I'm getting pretty mixed results on the Nissan vs Toyota front. Lots of people that owned both and said they were either the same, or one was better than the other - which one that was seems random. The only constant seems to be the huge price premium on the Tacomas. I also have really long legs and have been disappointed with the floor pan height on the Tacomas. I am aware of the aux trans cooler issues, I would most likely bypass the radiator and install an external cooler with E-fan. I like the Colorado, but they are a little smaller than the Frontier, and it seems dumb that the
