  1. Does anyone here drive a 2005+ Nissan Frontier? I've been considering one as an upgrade from my TJ Wrangler - was going to trade up to a JKU last year, but ended up getting wife a newer car instead, and decided that the JKU was still a bit too small after testing a few out. Also after borrowing my dad's Silverado a few times I'm sort of hooked on the versatility of just having a damn bed in the back, finally. I would be looking specifically at crew cab 4x4 models with the 4.0 V6 and auto tranny - have daily driven stick for 15+ years and pretty tired of it. I would also look at Tacomas
  2. The list of OC states is long, much longer than that in the OP. They're pissed off because Texas is the testing ground for developing a unified approach towards securing democrat political victories in red southern states, and they are losing. There are a number of dems that are obsessed with the notion of "turning Texas blue" Look, they are jonesing for it so hard that they are even writing "anticipatory history" articles that salivate at the very idea of it. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/3/16/1370547/-When-Red-States-Turn-Blue-An-Anticipatory-History-of-the-Next-Twenty-Years
  3. The actor sucks but you realized that he's Vaders grandson, right?
  4. I was disappointed there was not a single Corellian Cruiser or Neb B frigate. Oh well maybe next time.
  5. The overall length of the attached fixture does skew the measured torque value, and there are plenty of online calculators to determine the offset. http://www.cncexpo.com/TorqueAdapter.aspx
  6. The few times I've been traveled around Philly for work, I saw NJ plates everywhere. There's a huge chunk of your problem.
  7. When I attempted to bend the lever on my WASR when I first got it, it simply snapped in half. No, I didn't bend it an obscene amount. Hardened/tempered steel can become brittle, and shit happens. Bought a Polish safety lever, and it adjusted the same way just fine. I've had no issues bending the lever on my two Zastava rifles which were ridiculously tight from the factory. Beware though - too loose on an AK safety and it can move itself while firing, it can be accidentally flipped to fire if rubbed up against clothing, or it can actually flip past the dust cover when setting back to s
  8. I have been looking at some of the better quality airsoft AKs for some time. Some of them are high enough quality that some builders use the leftover parts for real stuff - e.g. I've heard from some that the Taiwanese-made triangle folder stocks and trunnions sold by AK Builder and others are actually runoff parts for airsoft. They are 100% dimensionally correct, metallurgy is the only concern, but I've seen some of the airsoft reviews where these guys do all of the same torture test shit that others do with real AKs, and they pass.
  9. My parents' house was in the path of the final approach for landing at our local hospital for its' life flight operations. Those guys would come hauling ass into the hospital when there was no patient on board, and sometimes on the way out too. I don't remember what they had, but they were fast, and they would come in at nearly full speed then whip around the hospital, quickly flare and set down. There is nothing cooler than watching a fast helicopter with a skilled pilot do its thing in a hurry. A lot of those guys had to have been Vietnam vets at the time, doing what they knew how to do best
  10. I wouldn't get too worried about small details, since you will never replicate some of the more unique features of the Saiga-12, such as the magazine design or the front trunnion/rivet pattern. I would just chop off part of the existing rear sight base to bring it level with the top of the gas block, and fabricate a similar sight rail to what you see on the S-12K. You will also need the S-12K handguard, you should be able to order one online, I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to get one shipped to Finland, and there are probably some for sale in Finland. The handguard anchors t
  11. got it, so if none of the semi-difficult machining work has been done, it sounds like it's more typical ATF fuckery.
  12. I have not been able to find any photos of the ACE FCG, but if they have a third pin they most likely have the safety sear.. As far as I know this would not be different in any way from the "auto sear" - they would still have the slotted lower rail, and the sear trip on the carrier. The only things they would be missing to enable F/A would be the appropriate safety and disconnector to allow automatic hammer release when the sear is tripped by the carrier. Those parts are trivial to install and require no skilled machine work.
  13. Yeah that happened to me when I put the 74 components on my Saiga. Pinned the GB but left the FSB unpinned so I could verify its center before I drilled it, and it fell off of the barrel while shooting. Surprising since I really cranked it on there.
  14. This is a kit I've had for several years. Matching serial Bulgarian AK-74 kit - serial postfix is #666 on all parts, which increases its danger factor as an assault weapon, obviously. I've built this with a few tools & widgets borrowed from Sim_Player... When he gets his stuff back it will most likely include a few reamers & drill bits that I found useful here. I used the nitride 5.56 AK-74 barrel from Arms of America - this is the same barrel that AK Builder sells, machined from a Montana Rifleman 4140 blank, but at the time I ordered it, AKB only offered it in bare steel. Ver
  15. yeah myself and a few others noticed that early on and asked Atlantic about it... no response. sort of saw it coming. it's amazing that knowledgeable dealers like Atlantic sold them to customers, knowing what might be coming down the road. that being said I saw some photos today for the first time of the plastic bottom piece removed.. damn if it isn't pure Galil under there, just needs a standard trigger guard/latch and you can throw that piece of plastic junk away. edit: may be more complicated than that but not impossible.
  16. It's probably not fair to compare M855 or M193 to whatever this guy encountered the most in the ME, which was probably old as fuck Egyptian or Iraqi surplus M43, or something like that. FWIW though I've seen FSA videos of guys dumping out crates of new production Wolf in Syria. I would not want to get shot with something more current in 7.62x39, such as the 8M3 bullet used by Russia today. It's going to blow a nice hole in you almost no matter where it hits, just like a soft point would, and it will still go through barriers like butter. If I can guarantee I'm getting 40 year old surpl
  17. The movie was awesome and did justice to the original Star Wars, but I couldn't agree more on the casting of Kylo Ren. It is hard to be intimidated by someone you suspect is 25 years old and still lives in his parent's basement playing video games all day. When someone asks you to take off your mask, just say no. I expected him to look kind of intimidating or have a fucked up face, not look like the guy behind the Subway counter.
  18. Saw it yesterday, it was awesome, it's the Star Wars movie I've been waiting for for years. Abrams didn't screw it up, everything I can think of was done right.. It felt more like a Star Wars movie than any of the prequels ever did. Abrams even kept a lot of the old school scene wipes, used a ton of puppets and animatronics for most of the aliens, rather than horrible CGI. The few CGI characters there are aren't over the top and done pretty well. My only complaint was that the casting for Kylo Ren was horrible. Not going to spoil anything, but after you realize who he is supposed to be in
  19. the best part of eating it is remembering all the BS you had to go through to get the animal to that point. this year I dragged my buck up and over the better part of 2mi of rocky cliffs, shot about 9am and back to camp at 5pm. still haven't tasted him yet though. my favorite was a cow we split with my wife's grandparents a few years back. shortly before he was slaughtered he escaped from the pasture and I had to chase him down in boots two sizes too small for me, then he stepped on my foot. every time we took a bite of "cow" I felt satisfied, revenge is mine asshole
  20. They have been using the same list of firearms from the late 90s, and yes most of those are no longer manufactured. The best part about that list? Authors of the 94 AWB that spawned that list admitted that they put it together by looking through gun catalogs and simply picking whatever looked frightening.
  21. Actually Rotella no longer has ZDDP, hasn't for years. No conventional has enough to be any benefit for the flat tappet cams. Need to upgrade to Royal Purple or even Amsoil.(disclamer I am an independent Dealer, and am not advising on oil{been a dealer now for 4years}) Also I ran Mobil 1 for years, even got that dreaded lifter tick in the 3.1, switched to Royal Purple and what do you know tick got much quieter. Now lost my huge discount on that and moved on to Amsoil. However I will state that I knew long before the last part that Mobil 1 is crap but was the cheapest on the market for a r
  22. One thing I have heard is that Abrams is not really a Star Trek fan, but that he was a huge Star Wars fan as a kid. Stuff like having the majority of the sets and models (e.g. the full Millennium Falcon set/model is real and based on the original sets) be real rather than CGI gives me pretty good hope that a lot of the typical Abrams stuff won't be happening. And the screenplay is written by Lawrence Kasdan, the writer of Empire Strikes back - arguably the best movie in the entire SW series - and Return of the Jedi. To me it looks like Abrams really wanted to address everything that pe
