  1. Do the current line of saiga's still have the step in the chamber that messes up the case necks?
  2. Devin and I worked out a deal on my converted Saiga .223 and I could not be happier. Excellent communication, super prompt payment, what more can you ask for. Thanks, Devin! I hope you enjoy it.
  3. First off, ATTENTION THIS ITEM IS CURRENTLY CROSSPOSTED ON Another AK board! Now that I have taken care of that, for sale is a RAA Saiga in 223 that has been converted to pistol grip with the proper U.S. parts count. I have added a bullet guide that I made myself using Vjor's excellent tutorial. Three of the used Orlite magazines(the ones that were scuffed up the most) have been converted. They fit and feed perfectly. Included with the rifle will be the original Saiga box and accessories(cleaning rod, cleaning kit, and oiler bottle). I am asking $400 for the entire package, buyer to pay actual
  4. Thanks guys, I will check K-var's piston out also. All I need is the piston itself, so the cheaper price will win out.
  5. Can anyone tell me if the standard AK gas piston as sold by Tapco will fit the RAA .223 Saiga. TIA!
  6. Just as an update, like I promised. I reloaded about 50 rounds of "stepped" case neck ammo the other night. My set of Lee dies took the step out during the resizing process. Best I can tell, there were no adverse effects. Cases came out as smooth as a babies behind. Now the dents from the cover left a scratch mark in the case but nothing else.
  7. Here you go, this is what you need as far as parts: Dinzag's Bullet Guides I made my own and am using the Galil Orlites, but Dinzag is the man for those who need a premade. By the way Vjor, thanks for the tutorial! I followed your instructions and have had 0 problems!! You the man!!
  8. If anyone ever doubted the durability or hardiness of a stamped Saiga Receiver, I fully encourage you to try to drill a hole in one!!! I started my PG conversion on my new RAA 223 last night. I dulled three bits to the point of uselessness trying to drill the front hole of the triggerguard out. I also went through half a bottle of cutting fluid!! These boys are sturdy! Any recommendations on what type of drill bit to use? Also, once the hole or spot weld is drilled thru, what did you use to break loose the trigger guard.
  9. I got my orlites over the weekend and was able to do three mags last night. I do notice a little front to back wobble. I don't have a bullet guide installed yet, so I'm not sure how this may impact feeding. If there is a problem, I can always add a little JB weld to the bottom of the mag catch (appears to be metal) and file to fit. I can also confirm that the 12rd. steel mags lock in with no modifications.
  10. Studmuff, If you are going to hunt deer with the .223 I would definitely recommend lots and lots of practice. You will need to put that baby right in the kill zone to bring it down. A majority of the people I know that hunt with a .223(which is very few) go for a neck shot on the spine. You have to be very accurate to take one down. I personally would recommend a 7.62 x 39 for this kind of hunting. I have shot deer with x39 using nosler ballistic tips and they turned the heart and lungs into jello. I assume you will be hunting whitetails, because I would not try the .223 on mulies.IMHO bec
  11. I purchased a .223 and a x39 from Saiga Central and I am very pleased with the price and friendly service. They cut me a deal on shipping since I had to pay state tax. I would highly recommend them.
  12. Does anyone have or can point me to a definitive foreign parts count for the Saiga rifles? I have searched here but cannot find a list. I would like to modify my x39 to use high caps but keep the original buttstock style(in other words no pg). I am looking at getting a US made buttstock and forend traditonal Saiga style from BRG3 that should count as 2 US made parts. If I understand correctly, I would then just need to trade out 2 more foreign parts to be compliant. However, I need the list to be certain. Thanks, I know I'm going to look stupid for not finding it myself but I have SEARCHED!
  13. You probably read my earlier post. I have an RAA .223 and it did come with a hole in the trunnion predrilled where the bullet guide would mount. I have yet to measure it and see if it can be tapped. I'm sure it can be tapped, but I want to verify by measurement if the tap size required for the hole size is going to cause problems with mounting a bullet guide, (ie will it require a screw so large that it interferes with the BG). The trigger cover plate is still up in the air. I haven't had time to take it apart for a thorough investigation. Judging from the outside it does appear to be one piec
