I used the second image, it worked great.

Now, I'm trying to figure out how to modify the spring, I'm thinking I have to make it L shape and attach it to the file control safety selector lever.

Can I re use the original shepards hook that came with the Saiga after my conversion? The kit that I purchased didn't come with a retainer plate so I want to see if I can re use the original.
